Kenny Knight - Your Sunshine (Coastline Recordings)
8DPromo · Kenny Knight - Your Sunshine (Coastline Recordings)
The latest release from Coastline Recordings, "Your Sunshine," finds label head Kenny Knight delivering two mixes that are ready for dancing in the sun this spring and summer. Demarkus Lewis adds his signature touch of deep and soulful bounce with Demarkus's Rain or Shine Mix. The release kicks off with Kenny's main mix, showcasing the soulful vocal sample over a solid mix of drums and Moog bass. Kenny, an aficionado of analog synths, often reaches for his Moog Voyager to deliver the bass, as is the case here. Whether it's sunrise or sunset, this track could become a "go-to" for those moments in a DJ's set. The second version, Kenny's Sax in the Shade Mix, reworks the main mix and makes a sexy sax hook the star. This is a production approach Kenny loves to take as a sax player himself and a lover of horns in house music. The vocals receive a more delayed dub treatment, sharing the stage with the saxophone as they work as one to thread the melody in and out of the mix. The third mix, Demarkus Lewis's remix, shows why his production talents are in such demand. Demarkus creates a glowing mix that's completely his own and flips the vocal, as if by magic, to follow his vision. This piece of ear candy keeps one wanting to hit replay. From the bouncing groove to the sparkling pads and keys, his signature spice is all over this one. Summer may not last forever, but this mix will make you feel like it could.
Rory Hoy (Super Hi-Fi) – “The Rain or Shine Mix is fantastic. Definitely supporting!” Juan Moreno (Sound Black Recordings) – “Nice track. Perfect to drive the dancefloor.” Ivan Garci (Vlosfer Records) – “Very nice release. Perfect for a rooftop party.” DJ Samuel Lawrence (R Side Records) – “Solid groover. Reminds me of mid 2000’s San Fran on the patio of the Endup on a Sunday afternoon.” Jeannie Hopper (WBAI FM) – “Hot jammin’ peak hour boogie!” Simon Kirk (Proton Radio) – “Fabulous vocal delivery. Love the jacking vibe on the main mix. Solid House Music!”

Block Barley - Ether Ghost (The Content Label)
8DPromo · Block Barley - Ether Ghost (The Content Label)
The Content Label presents Ether Ghost, the sophomore album from Hamburg-based producer and artist Block Barley. Block Barley is recognized for his innovative contributions to the music scene, like the notable full-length album Dead At The Control and a collaboration with Guilty Simpson, known for his work with the late producer J Dilla. Ether Ghost is a sonic journey through thirteen psyche-out tracks that seamlessly fuse classic production methods with a contemporary edge. Drawing inspiration from Italian Giallo soundtracks, library records, darkwave, progressive rock, and the Memphis rap-tape culture, Ether Ghost is a pitch-shifted exploration of gritty soundscapes. From the cinematic tone set by the opening track, "You Better Sleep," with its mighty drums reflecting the urgency of modernity, to the post-industrial pulse of "Iron Gate Sanctuary," providing a path to break free from constraints, each piece contributes to the album's distinct and hypnotic vibe. "The Coffin" unfolds with a codeine-laced bounce, serving as a poignant eulogy for our times. Throughout the album, Block Barley manipulates cinematic themes, creating tension and anticipation through repetitive motifs, leading towards the final track, "Ether's Whisper" — an ethereal infusion of ambient hope that resolves the prevailing dark atmosphere, leaving listeners with a profound and emotive experience. Enter the realm of the Ether Ghost. This project is available on a limited vinyl edition, a collaborative effort between Hafenschlamm Records and Votava Records, while the digital release is managed by The Content Label from Los Angeles. DJ Daniel D - Homemade Grooves #1 - SynthFunk Music
8DPromo · DJ Daniel D - Homemade Grooves #1 - SynthFunk Music
From the bustling streets of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, to the heart of the global house music scene, DJ Daniel D has been spinning tracks that resonate with the soul of dance floors around the world. With Homemade Grooves #1, his latest EP offering under the vibrant banner of SynthFunk Music, Daniel invites us on a sonic journey that bridges the gap between the nostalgic echoes of the '70s funk and disco and the pulsating rhythms of modern house, nu-disco, and beyond. Here's a time machine with a disco ball, powered by synthesizers and an unquenchable passion for the groove. The EP kicks off with "Just Funk," a track that grabs the listener by the collar, pulling one straight onto the dance floor. Its squelchy bass lines and bongo percussions resemble Italo escapades of yore, but the bright synthesizer chords and a relentless four-on-the-floor rhythm are all about getting your feet moving in the here and now. "Don't Miss It" takes a turn into the late-night vibes of a Chicago warehouse, with its classic house sound peppered with snazzy 808 snare rolls and deep keys, all built around a cheeky sample from an '80s movie favorite. The closing track, "Life Boat," offers a mid-tempo respite, layering arpeggiated synths over a driving techno bass line, with dramatic piano chords adding just the right amount of emotional heft to the EP's finale. SynthFunk Music has indeed captured lightning in a bottle with Homemade Grooves #1, delivering a collection of tracks that feel simultaneously classic and fresh. Paul Gafni & Joe Bellingham - Geodesic (Tremulant)
8DPromo · Paul Gafni & Joe Bellingham - Geodesic (Tremulant)
Paul Gafni had been a fan of Joe Bellingham's downtempo music in Seattle for years and decided to collaborate with him. They worked on a couple of remixes for Joe's Hug Records release and the Tremulant label. Eventually, the pair decided to create an original together. With Joe on bass and percussion, Paul providing guitar, keys, and vocals, and Diana Ratsamee adding an extra layer of beauty, "Geodesic" was born. "Geodesic" rides on a downtempo four-on-the-floor rhythm, populated with dubby echoes, ambient-flavored synth layers, moody guitar lines, and somewhat meditative vocals. The cut is chill but not motionless — there's a danceable vibe throughout ready for DJs to deploy in just the right sets. Michael Manahan answers the call with the Find a Way Through Hypnosis Mix, raising the tempo while maintaining maximum atmosphere. Woofer-vibrating bass, pulsing pads, and arpeggiated synth runs mix elegantly with the original elements. The second remix, from Chilean DJ/producer Ahau brings out a gentle guitar part over repeating bell-like tones. The beats and vibe build steadily as the male and female vocals play off each other, transmitting near-spiritual imagery through the magic of sound.
Trent Banks / Citrus Age (Reflect) – “Moody grooves with great textures.” Enne (Electunes) – “Really nice stuff, cheers.” Juan Moreno (1 Life Records) – “Perfect for the warm up.” DJ Morpheus (Lysergic Factory radio show) “I like all three tracks here. Lovely!” Dr. Best (Radio Z 95.8 Neurnberg) – “Nice release. Michael Manahan’s remix and the original are my faves.” Jon Fugler (XLNT Radio Show) – “Sublime & thoroughly enjoyable.”

Polygon Rainbow - Approaching Eternity Remixes (Harmonious Discord)
8DPromo · Polygon Rainbow - Approaching Eternity Remixes (Harmonious Discord)
Harmonious Discord continues to celebrate the music of Oregon multi-modal artist Polygon Rainbow with this exquisite revisit to his Approaching Eternity EP released earlier this year. The remix consortium delivers a cadre of melodic mysteries, stretching the original contents to new stratospheres. Joining the release are artists KiloWatts, Erothyme, A Path Untold, Encounters, RFRKT, and A Concept Being — a collection of artists who explore the well of infectious inspiration. A Path Untold washes the title track into a shaded melodic journey with the collision of massive walls of sound playfully dancing with plucked synthetics. Accented with staggered drums, precise bass accents, and penetrating sub-bass. Infinite levels of deepness ascend with expert precision in this opening selection. KiloWatts saddles the stars with his Interstellar Transmission Mix, gently riding comets of cacophony. A tide pool of swirling melodies ultimately produces a dub groove that attracts and synchronizes the melodies like delicate strands of time. Out of the snowy capped tundra comes the next revisit by sonic inventor Erothyme. Showcasing his masterful manipulation of tone and tremolo, Erothyme layers intelligent drum programming with bigger-than-life harmonics. The programming enjoys moments of insanity while always docking safely into a well-tempered workout. Harmonious Discord label chief dons a new moniker aimed at exploring the trails outside the dancefloor with the next remix. The Concept Being teases out the subtle evolutions of “Inner Workings of External Processes,” adding a swung groove to bounce the track onward. A quick diversion finds us at sharp synthetic basslines and a further floating of the many arpeggiated sequences into delicious disorientation. Polygon gets his own hands dirty on the project, this time showing the emerging sounds of his alter moniker RFRKT. RFRKT ups the tempo and drops the bass floor with a dynamic reinterpretation, with phase for days. The final remix comes from Encounters, who constructs around the beautiful dulcet tones and guitar accents in “Reconstructing Corrupt Memories.” There is no end to the levels of euphoria that descend on this epic finale to the Polygon project.
Klaus Benedek (Fortunea Records) – “KiloWatts & The Concept Being made interesting versions of these tunes.” Psycho-Jones (Kater Blau) – “It’s like floating in space.” Andreas Kinzl (Aromabar) – “As always, outstanding mixes.” DJ Morpheus (Lysergic Factory Radio Show) – “Excellent remixes. Unconscious Honey - Fault Lines (Random Records)
8DPromo · Unconscious Honey - Fault Lines (Random Records)
Unconscious Honey is the synth-pop project spearheaded by Björn Trenker, who hails from Berlin. His debut album, Being a Stranger, took inspiration from his background in psychiatry and was highly appreciated by the queer Berlin city magazines Siegessäule and BLU, as well as KALTBLUT Magazine, who deemed it one of the best dance music albums in 2020. During the pandemic, Björn collaborated with his regular co-producer and husband, Paul "Snax" Bonomo, and decided to remix and reinterpret the songs from the album, with help from other LGBTQ artists and friends such as Electrosexual, Mavin, and Snecker. He also began composing the four tracks on his new EP soon after the release of his second album. Although his debut live performance was canceled due to Covid-19's second wave, Björn continued to work on new material during the lockdown. Unconscious Honey's latest EP, Fault Lines, consists of four new and exciting songs from this period. The first song, "Fault Lines," is a synth-pop number about finding moments of joy in difficult times. "Percolate" is an upbeat song about the insecurities of being in a romantic entanglement. "Crush Of Time" is inspired by Twin Peaks, describing the feeling of getting lost in the night and experiencing a religious-like trance. Finally, "Sense Of Rapture" is about the ups and downs of queer cruising, including loneliness and disappointment, but also the feeling of absolution in a secret community. Unconscious Honey's Fault Lines will be available on Random Records starting December 15th, 2023.

Points on the map converge as Minneapolis' Dan Laino (Phunk Junk, Bubble n Twist), Fresno's Jason Merle (4E&A Records, Viva), and acclaimed Leeds, UK-based vocalist Becka Ward (S&S Chicago, Let There Be House) converge for the fantastic new Viva Recordings single, "I Want You." The original flows like a deep house dream as floaty pads, an old-school bass line ride, and subdued house beats support Becka's emotive vocals and lyrics. Drawing upon the tradition of soulful house and R&B and blending it with lush production flourishes yields one serious late-night gift. The dancefloor is the ecstatic recipient. The trio also provides an Instrumental as well as a Dub version using the sparsest of vocals from the original. There's also the Choppin Broccoli Remix, which increases the tempo and heat just a tad, throwing in fresh new layers of instrumentation that bring Becka's vocal into another brilliant light. It's time to get down.

He has released eight albums and mix sessions that take listeners on a retro-futuristic journey of exotic grooves and electronic disco funk. He has performed in over 30 countries, collaborated with notable artists such as Fred Schneider of The B52s, Lady Bunny, and Puddles Pity Party, and has had his music featured in various TV shows, ads, and even the Olympics. Now Ursula 1000 pulls out his dusty smiley face shirt from the closet and goes full-on 303 acid house squelch and jacking 808 grooves for this new single. "Movin' 2 The Sound" showcases Ursula 1000's signature exotic dreaminess, with elements of acid house, throbbing sequencers, and pumping hip-house action. The Berlin-based duo Acid Jerks provided the first remix, taking the acid house business to peak-time bliss. Meanwhile, Fort Knox Five, a leading force in the international funk and breaks scene, focused on electro vibes and b-boy action. Finally, Red Laser Records duo Il Bosco & Metrodome, also known as DJ Absolutely Shit, cranked up the bass, bleeps, and breaks to 11, bringing rave-ready, time-stretching, day-glo dancefloor destruction. This whole single's a trip!
