I'm looking forward to returning here next April, and visiting my cousin Catarina who's backyard features this natural pool in the Atlantic Ocean. It's unbelievably easy to be inspired and grounded when you're somewhere so familiar and that you can call home. I've never had to look outward to understand my own thoughts or perspective and how I should express them, maybe I'm luckier than most, but I've never been inclined to look to others in order to help me understand myself and my creative drive. Whether my work reflects that to others never really mattered to me because it's not about them, no matter the circumstances. I'm looking forward to both physical and mental tranquility when I return home and have the opportunity to self reflect and map out my future creative process and endeavours. #120 #kodakfilm #hasselblad

Happy Father's Day José-Manuel, pai, dad, whatever I call you in the moment. I think secretly my dad wishes he were a photographer. I guess growing up with modest-means on a farmland island, that sort of idea may have seemed impossible or out of reach for him. I guess that's why I'm more grateful for who his as a person, now that I'm older and can understand. Moving to Canada to provide our family with a better life at the expense of familiarity and a quiet lifestyle, he always showcased to me while I was growing up that he out our family first and worked really hard to provide my sister and me with the kind of opportunities he could only dream of as a young boy while he was milking the cows and working the farm with his siblings and my grandparents. I think artistic instinct in inherited, truly, and I always wondered where my artistic drive came from, but recently seeing my dad get more into photography and loving it, made me realize we are much more a like than I had ever imagined. Thanks dad, for allowing me the opportunity to find what's really important to me , and sacrificing your own time and life for me to be able to discover my own path in life. I'm lucky to have such a fantastic person to teach me the importance of the overlooked things in life. Love you. #fathersday #35mm #rolemodel

These two are chillllleeeennn in Hawaii and surfing some waves right now for their honeymoon. 🌊 🏄 Although I photographed their wedding this past weekend, I realized I haven't shared many pics from the hangout we hang over the fall. The wedding was a large Portuguese wedding, it was almost as if I was surrounded by familiar faces and distant family, a very cool experience for me and I'm looking forward to connecting to weddings in my own way similarly to my personal projects. It's always a treat when I get to send my client's the final scans of their photos. I'll admit though, seeing this frame on the E6 negative is like looking at a little slice of a movie, looking forward to sharing that experience with Neil and Aubrey. On a side note - I don't normally say too much about wedding dresses since I think they're all nice in their own ways, but Aubrey works for @prada as a window display designer and she got this dress custom made for her wedding day. to be 100% honest, it was one of the most classic-vintage- modern timepieces I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. @_prada_fashion Thanks as always to my homies @borealis.photo for killing it with their E6 processing as usual, and massive shout out to @downtowncamera for the Ninja blade sharp scans - I ❤️you guys. #shootfilm #prada #torontoweddingphotographer (at InterContinental Toronto Centre Hotel)

I posted a new blog story- yeah, it's a wedding, but if you take the time to read what I wrote you'll understand that this was / is much more than that. All my work, regardless of content, is personal work. Sometimes I dictate the terms, sometimes I'm following someone else's path, albeit temporarily.
