Book or Netflix: what Konmari method (if any) is right for you.
Book or Netflix: what Konmari method (if any) is right for you.
It seems like every January, Netflix puts out a show that changes people’s lives
Last year, it was Queer Eye, the seemingly shallow but ultimately transformative show that everyone and their mother watched and loved, in which five queer men reinvented the makeover format. This year, it was Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, a show where the loveliest woman on earth showed normal people how to…

2WeeksOf 2019
New year, new blog layout, new hair color, new books, new Sara A. Here's what's in store for 2019!
Happy 2019 people of the internet!
New year, new blog layout, new hair color, new books, new Sara A.
It has been brought to my attention that my blog, lovely as I like to think it is, is somewhat bereft of me. In the spirit of the new year, of trying new things and being a more open and happy version of myself, I’m going to try to change that, starting with a little New Year blog update.

Sequel Disappointment Time: China Rich Girlfriend Book Review
Sequel Disappointment Time: China Rich Girlfriend Book Review
How on earth has it been two months since I wrote anything on this blog?
Not to go full cliche, but work is the villain here, the reason I have been neglecting 2 Weeks Of, as well as the rest of my life. Since I have for all intents and purposes quit my job (more on that later), I’ll hopefully have more free time to dedicate to writing! (Until I find the next job that will consume my very…

The Best Summer Reading Ever: Crazy Rich Asians Book Review
The Best Summer Reading Ever: Crazy Rich Asians Book Review
Is there anything better than summer reading?
As a former avid reader who now barely has the time to pick up a book from her significant bedside table pile (it’s becoming a problem), I love summer. Summer vacations are the one time out of the year where I can hide away my phone, go to the beach and just read.
(Also, I don’t particularly like most beach related activities, so reading is the…

Royal Teas Cookbook Review
Finally, my Royal Teas Cookbook Review! (Spoiler alert: this book is bloody brilliant!)
This review has been a long time coming (it’s been in my drafts for weeks), but work took over my life completely during the month of July. Now that our end of the year show has come and gone and I’m officially on vacation, I have time to tell you all about the cookbook “Royal Teas”!
Let’s see who this book is for!

Winter: Sablés aux Confiture Recipe (Jammy Dodgers)
Winter! Time for tea and cookies and warmth. And what biscuit is more British than Jammy Dodgers or, as they're originally called, Sablés aux Confiture?

Autumn Miniature Chicken Pies Recipe
Autumn: Miniature Chicken Pies Recipe
Will I ever tire of pies? Big pies, miniature pies, sweet pies, savory pies, all the pies? Will they ever be enough?
The answer is no. I will always love pie, which is why I had to try the miniature pies in “Royal Teas”!

Summer Berry Tartlets Recipe
Summer Berry Tartlets or Sara's take on the British take on the French classic.
Did you know grilled sardines can be considered a summer tea time food? Neither did I, but the “Royal Teas” cookbook says it can, and even included a nice recipe for the fish with salsa verde. Has anyone in the Royal Palace ever smelled grilled sardines? Do they think it goes with a nice afternoon get together? I’m confused.
Instead of subjecting my tea party guests to smelly sardines, I chose…

Spring Lemon Drizzle Cake Recipe
Lemon Drizzle Cake by Buckingham Palace's chef Mark Flanagan: delicious or a royal fail? We investigate!
My favorite thing about the Buckingham Palace’s Cookbooks might be that they’re divided by season, according to the ingredients available, and they work as a sort of celebration of that time of year.
What better way to celebrate Spring than to make a lovely lemon cake?
Spoiler alert: this is a delicious cake.

Royal Heritage Cookbook Review
(Finally) My Royal Heritage Cookbook Review!
Sometimes, I think I should have called this blog 3 Weeks Of, because I never really do anything in 2 weeks, but then I remember that if I had done that, then I’d never finish anything in under 4 weeks, because I’m a procrastinator at heart.
I’ve also been knee deep in the writing process of my latest book, which is a terrible excuse, but alas, true.
I’ve still been cooking, though, so…

2 Weeks Of: Royal Cookbooks
2 Weeks Of: Royal Cookbooks
What is it about a Royal Wedding that makes the world pay attention to monarchies it considers redundant the rest of the time?   And what is wrong with my brain that it hears Royal wedding and it immediately wonders what Royalty eats and if I could replicate the presumed delicacies?   Dear reader, welcome to 2 Weeks of Royal Cookbooks!   (more…)

Gwyneth Paltrow's It's All Good - Book Review
At the end of the day, when all the recipes have been tried out and we're as healthy as we can, is the cookbook It's All Good worth the purchase? Here's my final review of Gwyneth Paltrow's book.
It’s been a good 2 weeks (or, you know, 4) cooking recipes from It’s All Good. We’ve laughed (over delicious chicken soup), we’ve cried (over dry and bland fruit crumble), we had fun (shopping at the healthy section of the supermarket). After cooking a handful of recipes, I feel confident enough to give my final thoughts on the cookbook that’s meant to be a magical portal to Goop health.   Is…

Goop’s Millet "Falafel": good idea, bad recipe
Goop’s Millet “Falafel”: good idea, bad recipe
Before today, I was kind of wondering if this Cookbook was too good to be true. The recipes I’ve tried so far have been easy, delicious and healthy, a trifecta so rare it’s basically a culinary unicorn.   Thus I went into the Millet “Falafel” recipe in high spirits. I shouldn’t have. The quotes should have been warning of what was to come.   Don’t be fooled by the pretty, this was not a success.…

Goop's Chicken Soup aka My New Favorite Comfort Food
Is there anything more comforting then chicken soup? Today I tried out It's All Good's version of chicken soup. Check out the results!
I’m a visual person, and as such tend to make recipes that have pictures. A recipe can be amazing, but if the cookbook or website doesn’t provide an illustration then I’m generally out.   It’s All Good’s version of Chicken Soup and Kale + Carrots does not come with a picture, but curiosity got the best of me and I still made it.   I’m so, but so glad I did, because I got a new favorite comfort…
