Okay so this morning I saw on the news "the government taking steps to protect children online" and I PANICKED cause I thought it was KOSA, but it wasn't KOSA! It was this thing called Know2Protect. I don't know all the details, but from what I heard on the news (CBS), Know2Protect is basically a program that's meant to TEACH children and adults how to protect themselves online (as opposed to KOSA, which wants to censor the internet). I'm not entirely certain about this thing, but! Know2Protect SOUNDS like it might be the answer to our problem! It's what we wanted, right? For the government to teach people how to protect themselves from online predators instead of censoring the internet? Edit: THIS HAS ALMOST 200 NOTES???

Said this on my main and I'll say it here too:
1: White Christians historically have done this shzt a lot but people only seem to actually care/acknowledge it's a horrible thing when it's done by minorities. (It's not right obviously, but like you should be caring about it ALL THE TIME not just when you can use it to vilify people. Like all the various times this shzt had been used in colonizations by all sorts of groups, even non-white and non-christian. But like we have a lot of cases of white Christians doing it because Europeans kinda pioneered colonization y'know, even if colonizations happened even before the British started doing it-)
2: a lot of Iranians fzcking hate the regime like talk to my family have a lot we can say about it. But like crappy governments are just. A thing that exist. Everywhere. It's not unique to Iran guys like you realize how many places used to be in a similar spot to it or are still in a similar spot right now? Like istg it's an extension of the white savior complex like. How about you just accept that we don't need westerners to sort out shzt out for us? Telling an Iranian that the regime sucks is like telling literally anyone that the sky is blue like Thanks captain obvious /s, but we already know that. Just let us have our own fxcking history on our own terms.
but like also don't start making posts sucking up to the regime please I don't wanna see people go in that direction like my parents have told me enough about growing up in Iran and also literally in October around when this whole shztstorm began the morality police killed a 16 year-old girl under similar conditions to Amini. Literally my age by the way, I think I cried. and no one talked about it because I guess caring about what happens IN iran is too much for people. Misogyny and potential ethnic cleansing (given that both Amini and this girl were Kurdish and I heard some people say there was like a pattern for this-), people can't care about that because Iranians were protesting it and it would make West Asians look like human beings who care about morals. Instead they pretended to care about Muslims during that and called the protests Islamophobic and otherwise ignored them. Bullshzt. Or at least that was the response Amini, when people didn't just ignore it. But for the second girl I can't even remember her name because people literally JUST ignored it.
oh yeah and since I saw someone do this in the notes on one post I think: if you call Iranians Arab or lump us under Arab just know you're being racist, literally only two percent of Iranians are Arab. Most Iranians belong to Iranian ethnic groups, mainly Persian. But like there's a lot of ethnic groups in Iran. Please don't assume that West Asian = Arab that's like saying that East Asian = Japanese or something.

It's actually crazy talking to friends and relatives about what's going on because very few of them know that this is a retaliatory attack. I keep seeing people online call the attack unprovoked too.
So those who don't know, on April 1st Israeli warplanes bombed Iran's consulate in Damascus. The attack killed 7 of Iran’s military advisers including 3 senior commanders.
Reuters reporters at the site in the Mezzeh district of Damascus saw emergency workers clambering atop rubble of a destroyed building inside the diplomatic compound, adjacent to the main Iranian embassy building. Emergency vehicles were parked outside. An Iranian flag hung from a pole by the debris.
Iran's ambassador to Syria said the strike hit a consular building in the embassy compound and that his residence was on the top two floors. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement that seven Iranian military advisers died in the strike including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in its Quds Force, which is an elite foreign espionage and paramilitary arm.
This attack on the embassy is against international law. Embassies are protected sites. But instead of condemning the attack and putting pressure on Israel, the US has spent the past week and a half calling West Asian countries to put pressure on Iran, with Biden going as far as to warn Iran not to attack Israel and saying that his support for Israel is 'iron clad'.
The West, the UN, and UN Security Council have largely failed to condemn the attack which means Iran has no choice but to retaliate with force in order to prevent future attacks. Otherwise, the country will look vulnerable and weak, especially to the Israeli occupation government which has spent months bombing neighbouring countries like Syria and Lebanon

Himbo-tournament person here: I am Iranian-American and I'm really scared of if a war's going to break out right now
I have family in Iran. That is where my family comes from. I have family still living in Iran that I know and love. Even if I wasn't born there myself and haven't been there myself. And just.
I'm terrified of what's going to happen I really don't want any more war in West Asia and especially not with Iran.
Also people calling it an "unprecedented attack" when Israel attacked Iran's consulate first and this was in direct response to that???? But people will still die on the hill of defending the USA nuking civilian areas of Japan at the end of World War II I guess, that was fine because when white people attack Asians it's justified but when Asians defend ourselves it's abhorrent I guess that's how the world fxcking works. Whatever.
I feel ill

American mutuals. Just remember that you still can stop Kosa. I dont have as much power as im australian but you can protest, call your representatives, be publicly against it, sign petitions. Do whatever you can. Make sure when calling your reps to say that the other side will use it to their advantage, eg if you live in a more conservative state say that the left will use it to push their agenda and vice versa. Don’t immediately assume for the worst, there is still hope and they will only win if you just give up. Im here for you all

I don't even watch Eurovision but the fact that people are allowed to just beat a dead horse (a single fxcking day) to spread discrimination against west asians is repulsive. And like they banned Russia I think for the genocide against Ukraine, I don't think there's any room for debating here, Eurovision does do bans for genocide it's just ignoring it right now (because when it's genocide against asian people I guess it doesn't matter huh, when it happens to POC instead of Europeans-). It's an ongoing genocide it's been going on for five months as far as the world is concerned and for decades in actuality.
(Again: I am west asian, albeit Iranian and not Palestinian)
(Btw this is not to minimize the horrific shzt that's happened to Ukraine I've seen some people try to do that and it's just. Guys there's no need for that, we can point out the difference in how it's been treated by the world without having to downplay it-)
