Oh, Tumblr.
Tumblr media
I'm back. Again. AGAIN. I don't think anyone would be left shocked from the revelation that that I too, was one of them Tumblr kiddies. (neurodivergent queer kids with niche hyperfixations used to flock this site like moths to an open flame and boy did i have a lot of hyperfixations lmao) I'm back. Again. AGAIN. I don't think anyone would be left shocked from the revelation that that I too, was one of them Tumblr kiddies. (neurodivergent queer kids with niche hyperfixations used to flock to this site like moths to an open flame and boy did I have a lot of hyperfixations lmao) So greetings, old friend. It's me. Well, this feels less like meeting an old friend after a long time and more like being DMed by one of your old classmates from elementary school asking you if you were an open-minded individual looking for networking opportunities. (It's awkward and you don't really want to be having this conversation right now, but you kinda just have to go through it.) But here we are. Back to where I started. I'm scrolling through my old blogs and my dashboard and I still see lots of mecha and anime stuff here. This is where I used to do my fandom stuff. You know, fanart, fanfic, headcanons, and disproportionately heated arguments about the varying interpretations of a character from a cartoon made for children. Fun stuff. Eventually, when everyone moved, I also moved to different places too. Twitter mostly. Since then, my Tumblr just sat there, collecting dust and wondering why. "What happens to a Tumblr blog when it is left alone? It becomes worn and aged, and its paint peels and its foundations begin to sink. What does it think of? What does it dream? How does it regard those creatures who built it? Who brought it into existence only to abandon it when its usefulness no longer satisfies them."
I still have those old blogs, btw. Rule of the land was that you make one for each of the separate things you enjoy like you were an Ancient Greek god and the blogs were your different epithets ala Aphrodite Pandemos/Urania or something like that.
Tumblr media
(Names blocked out both to protect my privacy and to spare everyone else the agony of my past cringe) But the ability to make multiple blogs and handle them from the same account actually lends itself to the process of compartmentalization. This sets it apart from other microblogging platforms. It's actually much easier to do this here than on Tumblr, Bluesky, etc. You're also given much more tools to spice up your posts here. YOU ACTUALLY HAVE FREEDOM TO FORMAT YOUR POSTS HOWEVER YOU LIKE
Probably won't come back here though. Place kinda died ever since they tried to block nsfw stuff in 2018 and basically killed all of the good will they've built with their user base. Also, I have a sizeable following on other websites anyway and it's difficult managing multiple sites so I'm sticking to those. It was fun seeing some people I used to follow still posting though.
So yeah, if anyone asks me "Hey, are you familiar with Tumblr?"

Where the heck am I
As a new comer to Tumblr, I didn’t find it drastically different from other social media platforms I’m accustomed to. The interface felt familiar, and the concept of following users/themes and scrolling through a feed was intuitive.
However, what did set Tumblr apart was the sheer diversity and depth of content. I often found myself losing track of time as I scrolled through posts that caught my attention. From discussions to memes and stunning artworks, there was something for every interest.
The platform’s emphasis on creative expression was evident and it’s nice to see users freely sharing their creations, thoughts, and photos without the pressure of likes and followers. I appreciate this sense of community fostered by the reblogs and comments, which makes it easy to connect with like-minded individuals.
Anyways ENOUGH yapping, here’s what I ate recently

Hey there, Tumblr! It’s been a long time huh? 😭😭😭
Using Tumblr became a safe space for me to share what interests me without the fear of being judged. I remembered when I tried to make my feed aesthetically pleasing, just so I could call myself a “Tumblr girl”. It sounds crazy but I really enjoyed reblogging and scrolling through posts that fit my interests.
I actually don’t see it as a waste of time because I get to entertain myself and at the same time, educate myself on ways to be an effective content creator through how people posts and type their captions and hashtags.
In fact, I developed a deeper appreciation for vision boards and the art of manifestation. Yes, I do like sharing posts of words of affirmation and beautiful pictures that I aspire to have/want to be. The more I scroll through my Tumblr feed, it truly amazes me how women manifest things they want and that’s how I become more interested in to building a feed that best suits my personality. That’s why, I have become more motivated in contributing to the community by doing whatever I can possibly do, and that is reblogging and simply reacting to their posts. Reblogging is a big help in gaining more audience to engage on the post to earn more likes and views. However, I honestly don’t see myself using Tumblr in the future because I prefer to use Pinterest and other social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram. These mentioned social media apps are where I am most active and I believe that this is where I will get to contribute more in to the community that shares the same interests as mine.  #longtime #welcomeback #honest

Tumblr Up All Night 🥳⁉️⚠️
Hi Tumblr friends! Fun fact: I learned how to use Tumblr back when I was in grade school, and of course, it was all for the love of One Direction (1D). I guess you could call me a hardcore directioner because seriously learning to use a whole new app merely for fan fictions? Guess what, those alternate universes, romantic stories, and crazy adventures are what kept me sane and puyat, hence the song. 🤓
Tumblr, in my opinion, is a lot like Twitter! You dump your thoughts the same way, except you have more characters to do so in one post. That way, scrolling through the app does not make it seem like a never-ending stream. It just gets better as you scroll typa vibe! 😎 Jokes aside, I definitely learned a lot more from this app now than before because I explored other communities and features aside from what was known in the One Direction (1D) fandom.
Tumblr media
I am definitely looking into using this app once again to contribute to discussions in different communities also. Seems like a really fun app naman as long as you explore the different parts of it! 🙆🏻‍♀️ @183learninghub

🌐 Confessions of a Cyber Nomad
I find it a bit awkward to admit that this platform isn't all that new to me. Comparing this to other social media platforms, I've always viewed Tumblr as a space for more niche interests and for people who prefer the blog-esque formatting of posts. This is also probably why I don't run to this platform for socializing since it comes off more as a dump yard rather than a place for interacting and building an active community.
I have but only faint memories of using this platform when I was much younger and have been using it as a passive consumer of the content until recently when Twitter/X rebranded. As a creative and merchant, I highly value engagement which is directly influenced by a platform's algorithm and features. When I started to run into problems with Twitter/X, I figured it was time to also establish my online presence elsewhere. Though Tumblr was a good candidate, I eventually lost time and motivation to consistently cross-post my content given its dwindling number of active users.
Tumblr media
To this day, I still see myself using Tumblr except it won't ever be as much as I use other platforms. I especially appreciate its search engine since it makes filtering posts much easier. At present, I primarily use the platform to find photos, fan art, and other inspirational media for my visual work. Perhaps when I am ready to commit to a personal blog, I would be more active but for now, with my current responsibilities, I am satisfied with being a consumer rather than a producer of content on Tumblr.

dear tumblr, we meet again.
i remember using tumblr during the halsey-troye sivan-melanie martinez era, and most people my age are hooked on posting pictures that are described as "grunge." of course, as a teenager, i wanted to embody that as well, but it did not last long. if my memory serves me right, i only made an account for that purpose, but i wasn't able to create a post because i found it difficult to navigate. however, i truly appreciate the content that i saw at the time and even today.
downloading tumblr and giving it a try now that i am in my 20s feels nostalgic. i think it still had the same feeling where this app only has a specific target audience, unlike facebook, which is accessible even to the older generations. for me, tumblr is an application meant to express your creativity, art, and passion. it is still a platform to share your inner thoughts with the public.
for the past few days, i admit, i have been endlessly scrolling through contents that i like, given that it has that feature where you get to customize what appears on your dashboard. for me, those were literature, cats, and visual art! i also noticed that i am liking and saving those posts due to my interest in the said topics. honestly, this app has a similar vibe to pinterest where you get daily inspiration based on what you normally view. as for tumblr, it has an added aspect where you can create long texts and talk about random things. it also has an attached anonymity (if you'll remain that way) that makes you more motivated to share your passion, random reviews of films, etc., especially as someone who does not want to be perceived (hahaha!).
however, i think i'll utilize this platform more for consuming content than creating one. yes, i'll use this in the future, but not as much as what i do on facebook, instagram, or tiktok because it feels detached from fostering connectivity given that not all people that i know of have this application downloaded on their devices.
you are so familiar yet so foreign. i know you so well, but at the same time, i don't.

⚡️ experience of a newbie ⚡️
Always knew this site existed, but tbh, diving in felt like gearing up for a marathon I never trained for? But WOW, now that I’m here, it’s like Pinterest met every social media app at a cafe, shared a latte, and created this blogging site
Tumblr media
It’s seriously personalized here, probably because it’s made for bloggers to spill their guts in the most aesthetically pleasing way possible. As I'm scrolling, I’m hitting follow mostly on accounts that drop wisdom, poems, quotes – all that soul food. 📜💫 Turns out, the poetic soul in me never left! HAHAHA SOMETHING SOMETHING
And YES, the wholesome content? It's like a warm hug on a rough day. 🌼 Makes me wanna jump into the convo, share my own thoughts here and there. Someday, when time’s on my side, maybe I’ll use this site to post my lame poems and unpublished works. Just for the archive vibes, you know?
Till then, catch me soaking in all the good vibes and probably overthinking my bio then ended up just using “:)” HAHAHAH Let's be blog buddies, yeah? 🌙✨

not a tumblr newbie??
im kidding its been a while since I've been able to navigate a new social media platform and I'm ngl its kinda fun! This app feels like a combination of so many other social media apps -- Instragram, Pinterest, and Twitter, but it also gives Padlet vibes, with its bulletin board style when searching. Using it on a laptop it was a little hard to navigate with all the options and buttons but it was fun to explore! I really liked scrolling through other people's blogs and study inspo pics. Hashtags are ELITE in this app and I don't think there could ever be enough memes. It does feel a lot more personal compared to other apps since some users truly use it as their daily blog for life updates and events. As a big journal girl, I'd probably use it for the same purpose too lol. I also love how you could attach gifs, pics, and videos to each blog, spicing up the aesthetic. You could even set up MULTIPLE different blogs which is really cool! I'd definitely love to explore the app more before becoming an avid poster, but I don't think I would use it as often as other apps, like Instagram, which I have already become accustomed to using. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing study inspo pics and different memes on this app, which is why I'd like to share some that keep on my phone as mood boosters :)

🌟 Tumblr Reflections 🌟
Tumblr media
I remember trying Tumblr when I was younger, but I wasn't an active user nor was I exposed enough. Through this activity, I finally got to discover what this platform has to offer.
Rediscovering🌈
Tumblr's vibe is definitely different from the other social media platforms I'm used to wherein some tend to be very formal and polished, unlike here wherein contents are more on raw expression and creativity.
Learning Journey📚
Like browsing through Instagram / TikTok reels, I just scrolled through different funny posts, beautiful arts and poems, and interesting discussions. Although I initially planned to just check out posts for educational purposes, I got hooked at some point. It was entertaining because of the wide scope of contents related to the different interests I have.
As someone who just loves to read stuff, I found myself engrossed with the discussions and contents here, but I didn't feel the need to share my own perspectives. I was satisfied just learning through others' discussions.
Future Use✨
I think that in the future I may not be an active Tumblr user, but I believe I'll be a casual user of the platform. I will visit it just from time to time to satisfy my need for inspiration, entertainment, and such because I already have other social media platforms that are my comfort place.

Tumblr media
Tumblr is indeed different from other social media platforms, mainly because of its focus on creative expression, niche communities, etc. Though as someone familiar with tech, I found myself easily immersed in scrolling through posts that piqued my interest, often losing track of time, similar to when I scroll through Reels or Reddit posts. I frequently discovered new content related to my interests, whether it was art, memes, or any fandom content. However, while Tumblr offers these 'affordances', I think its user base has declined in recent years, and its future seems uncertain. Hence, despite its appeal, I may not prioritize using Tumblr in the future due to concerns about its sustainability and evolving social media landscape, opting for platforms with more active and thriving communities. Also, another social media platform is another hour removed from my study hours HASHAHSA

My tumblr experience👩🏽‍💻
I heard of tumblr when I was younger but I never actually used it before. Trying it out now, just like any other social media platform, it is kind of challenging at first but as I started posting, I realized it has some similarities with other social media platforms I use: hashtags are similar to the tags, and I was amazed that we can also add music just like we can on Instagram. What I liked most about posting was how I could change the fonts because I have not done that in other platforms. This was something new for me and I actually had fun customizing my posts as well as my profile to match my personality.
As per my time on tumblr, I would not say I was actually distracted, because I utilized searching only the topics that I want to see on my feed such as my interests and hobbies. I also looked for trending celebrity topics like Lando Norris winning his first ever grand prix and Justin and Hailey Bieber’s announcement that they were having a baby. Being able to see these posted by people that share the same interests made me feel like I belong to a community so I got inspired to participate in the discussions.
Overall, it was a good experience navigating through using tumblr for the first time, and although it was intimidating at first, I find myself using in more so that I will be able to maximize the inspirations for my hobbies and interests that I get from online blogs like these.

my tumblr experience as a newbie <3
hello everyone! skl that i am currently in my fav cafe near my house atm, & it's nice that i get to navigate tumblr for the first time in my safe haven! 🤗
sooo, maybe you're wondering how my experience on tumblr went? 🤔 okay, lemme kwento hehe
upon scrolling, i can say that tumblr is both so similar & different from the usual social media platforms i opt to use. it's so similar because just like the other apps, a lot of people share their thoughts, interests, and experiences. there are also features wherein its users can like, comment, and share different posts. however, it's also so different because of the app's interface— because i'm not really used to how the app was designed. also, the posts are highly westernized for some reason? i'm not sure if it's really like that, or maybe it's just because my account is new? (enlighten me pls) 😅
but despite these similarities & differences with the other apps i usually go for, it was kinda entertaining to scroll & interact with other people's posts. with my feed being curated according to my interests, it made my tumblr experience a lot more fun and motivating for me!
however, because i've already been using a lot of social media platforms that basically do the same thing as to what tumblr could offer, i might stick to those instead. but of course, i don't close my doors from visiting tumblr once in a while 🥰
aaannnd that's it for my tumblr experience! thank you for reading my kwento HASHSHA 🫣 see y'all around! 🫂🩷
ps: here's a pic of my fav cafe, y'all should check it out (no to gatekeeping!) 🤣

Time for An Activity! 🎉
You might be wondering why ❓ exactly we chose to use Tumblr for this lesson when there are so many other social media platforms to choose from, and that’s because we want to test your computer competency as you navigate through this unfamiliar platform. 🤯
Instructions:
In order to fully familiarize yourself with this platform, you are requested to:
Personalize your account however you want as long as it reflects your identity, interests, and aesthetics. (You can post things if you think it adds to the personalization.) 💅✨🌆
Explore the platform. You can look into specific fandoms that you want to see posts about or you can look into just about anything that interests you. 📺🎬📱
Make a post talking about your experience navigating the platform. Guide questions: Was it different from other social media platforms you are used to? Did you find yourself losing time just scrolling through posts that caught your attention? Did you learn something new about your interests? Have you become motivated to contribute to the discussion in the community that discusses your interests? And do you see yourself using Tumblr in the future? Why or why not? 🤔🤓
HOLD ON! There’s a catch. 😉 The post should be formatted in a way that makes you look like a veteran of the platform, or a highly experienced one. Therefore you should explore the platform and the posts thoroughly to recognize the norm in formatting posts. We also strongly encourage you to utilize the available features when posting, may it be hashtags, GIFs, images, or anything, as long as it is creative. 🤩🎨
When it is posted, share it to this account through private messages so that we can reblog it for the rest of the class to see. 👏🙂
We hope that through this lesson and the following lessons you encounter, you can realize how social media is connected to enhancing certain skills that can then be used for educational purposes. For your next lesson, direct to this next link: https://bit.ly/LearningHub183Reddit
A final reminder: Please only go to the next social media link when you are done with this one. Don't forget to send a screenshot of your finished product to the Telegram homeroom (lesson 1). And lastly, HAVE FUNN! XD

Discussion Time!
Tumblr media
Using social media as a tool for education might not be the most conventional way to study, but through looking at several studies, we found that using social media for education leads to increased productivity, which then leads to student achievement, leading to more frequent use of social media for education, resulting in better computer competency and encourages self-efficacy. That’s a lot to take in, right? But it’s undeniable that there is a connection between those behaviors that should be understood and practiced more.
