i should probably look at this blog only once every month or two because, although the things in this community inform me about are incredibly important, it makes me incredibly anxious and depressed to be on here often

We need to save our water from evaporation here in CA. We should be doing everything possible to store what rain we are lucky to get.

It's amazing how gender is closely tied to fandom culture. People are essentially creating OCs of themselves, and then projecting their OC into the real world through their expressions of gender. It's all a performance of what these people want to be, not who they actually are. That's why we end up with all these neo-pronouns, hyper specific genders and pseudo-sexualities. They are collecting asethetics and slotting them together to create a Frankenstein's identity. It's not healthy and the world is not required to roleplay with you or accept your OC cosplay.

cannot stop thinking about how good the fabrication of consent in squid game was… like yeah, the participants consent! over and over, from agreeing to the slapping game to ringing up the number of their own accord to meeting at the location to signing a separate sheet once more upon arrival… they can even disband the game if the majority decrees it. but this is all performative. because of course they’ll agree - of course they’ll come back.
the second episode is even all about addressing this ‘consent’, and that potential audience superiority: “so why don’t they just leave???? if they can??? why did they even do all this to start with?? it’s so extreme, to do all that just for money, i would never”
because, the show says, look at what they’re returning to. look at the life that’s offered as their alternative. debt up to their ears, money-brokers beating them up, poverty at its worst. do you see? do you see how yeah, joining that game is optional, but it’s optional in the sense of choosing to be stabbed or shot: theres consent, but not actual desire. that theres agreement, but under exploitation. there’s a reason only poor people are chosen to compete and it’s so obvious but i fucking love how the show handles it and addresses any audience superiority anyway

on one hand i think that the way TRAs get livid at radfem usernames is hilarious and it's nice to embrace parts of ourselves that are so hated by society but on the other hand i wish they were slightly less obvious so that i could easily reblog a lot of radfem posts i to my main without outing myself as one

Honestly I totally get why radical feminism is stereotyped to be angry and negative. Acknowledging the ways women have been historically oppressed is a very traumatizing journey for a lot of us. It sort of gives you an identity crisis, everything you thought you knew has a new face. Things that you didn't question begin to stick out and are impossible to ignore.
You start reflecting on all your past experiences and wonder if it happened to you because you were a girl. When you realize boys have a completely different experience than you. Was your father always this sexist? Why are there so many sexualized women in all forms of media? Why are women paid less? Is my mom actually happy? Did my mom go through this too? Do I like these things because I was told that I should? Do I dress like this because I actually like it, is it because I like how people treat me when I wear it? Do I wear makeup because it's fun or because I was told that's what girls my age do? Why do I feel so detached from my body? Why do I feel ashamed for having a body? Do boys worry about their waists? How symmetrical their nipples are? How large or small they are? Are they telling themselves that they'll never find love because of it? Do they pick themselves apart?
It's impossible to make this realization and ignore it. Because once the fog clears you see how embedded misogyny is in the fabric of society it will make you angry. Men love to act like they're victims because they're told not to share their emotions. Women are always told our emotions should be bottled up. We are literally groomed to be submissive, quiet, and decorative. Our socialization makes us objectify ourselves because it makes it easier for men to do it. We keep ourselves and other women in line because of the constant threat men are to us.
Theres a reason why mother and daughter relationships are so complex. They're as healing as they are traumatizing. Theres a profound connection between us. The mother, a victim, victimizes another in the same way. Out of love. Out of fear. For protection. Our mothers try to equip us with the lessons they have learned so we can make it just a little further than she did, and we will do the same with our daughters. Our oppression is so deeply rooted it becomes genetic. Our generational trauma goes as far back as humanity does. That realization changes you.
It should make you angry. The world needs work. Angry people create change.

maybe stop for 5 minutes and consider why the gender critical movement is predominantly made up of women. a couple more minutes to think about why #transwomenarewomen is the most flaunted tagline of the trans movement, even in conversations that ought to centre transmen.
and a few minutes to ponder the fact that “terfs” i.e. radical feminists, are the most reviled and “dangerous” opposition to the trans movement. feminists whose other values include “women are not sex puppets for your entertainment” and “women should be allowed to live away from men”.
