✒️ Notes on silence

Ah, isn't that great? I promised more frequent updates and then dropped one and disappeared.

The why is pretty mundane. I've been far too sidestracked with other projects I want to try. Then, after finishing one, I have a flurry of new ideas and want to try something else instead.

(For the curious, these are small narrative games. They have the (un)fortunate side effect of directly supporting my dayjob as a gamedev, and since they're fun to make, they become of a bit of an auto-fueling cycle.)

So, to keep myself from running off to do something else for a little, I've decided that I'm going to be doing NaNoWriMo ths year, and all I will be doing that month is writing Blackrock. Until then there might be small updates, but November be will the one to look out for.

✒️ Hasn't it been a while?

8 months of radio silence! Goodness, it didn't feel that long...

Before I get into the meat of this, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Since my last update I've been in a near constant fugue of creating portfolio pieces so I could change my career track to something that I genuinely care about. No time for hobby projects, until I landed that job.

The good news, the career shift has been made. It took far longer than I would have liked (and midway through the hunt found out I could be looking at years until I landed that job, and lucked out incredibly), but it's done. Everything was worth it.

After an adjustment period of moving, I can dedicate my freetime almost entirely to hobby projects. Blackrock is back on the menu!

Starting next year I'm going to have a few months of just me and my laptop while my new job starts, and you should expect to see an update or two in that time. Thank you forever and always for your infinite patience, and I hope to get you all some good Blackrock content in the short future.

#And as a future note: this project WILL get finished even if it takes me a decade #This thing kickstarted me realising how much I wanted to make stories for a living so I feel I have to finish it out of respect for that #Penned ink

I'd recommend you read part 1. There's some character builiding/foreshadowing in there for the rest of the project, and some sections call back to it that might make you a little lost if you didn't.

If you want to jump in with part 2 however you're free to do so. You'll know what's going on if you've watched the original series.

✒️ After a Short Uptick in Activity

I saw the main post being reblogged around again, so I feel after some silence you guys are due for an update.

In short, not dead! Far from it. I've been writing quite tirelessly during my silence and I'm definitely not stopping any time soon.

The problem, that writing is going to everything else but this project. I'm trying to shift my career fully into writing and narrative design, and my portfolio needed some bulking. Especially since I'm starting from zero. I'm still working on that now, and it's absolutely my highest priority. Unfortunately fanfiction isn't something I can put out as demo work without mixed reactions.

The long and short, we're looking at mid-april before serious work on this can resume. Little updates might be squeezed out until then but that's a VERY heavy might. I'll say this now that I wouldn't get hopes too high unless I find two minutes, and it's eating up almost all of my spare time.

Thanks for all your support in the meantime! Your words mean a tremendous amount.

✒️ Short Hiatus - 7th December

Hey everyone, as you might have read in the tags of the previous update post there's another writing project I've been working on. I'm going to be putting Blackrock on hold for a short while until that deadline's passed, as splitting my attention was a detrement to both projects.

Hiatus will be effective from now until the 7th of December. This doesn't mean an update is guaranteed on this date, but I will actively be working on Blackrock again.

The hiatus may end sooner, but the 7th of December is the longest it will last. Thank you all for your patience.
