it’s too dangerous mate
Australia is geographically large and not everything I explained happens every day; but the most dangerous things about the climate and the animals are all concentrated in one place in the land down under. The place is called Fraser Island and it’s the largest sand island in the world. It’s known for its beautiful beaches and crystal-clear water, but it is the most dangerous beach tourist attraction in the world. There are no towns on Fraser Island and I’ll explain why. It is under the state of Queensland (the state where most of the cyclones hit) and it is infested with spiders, snakes, dingoes, sharks, and jellyfish. Tourists go to the Island and some of the injuries and accidents that happen there are caused by the sand dunes. Sand dunes are hills of sand caused by ocean currents. Accidents such as getting vehicles stuck and getting bit by insects and reptiles that are hiding in the sand happen on a yearly basis. The beaches are like I said very stunning, but there are no lifeguards there and there are no warnings signs about ocean currents. There are also yearly incidents where people are not able to return to shore after swimming because of the rip currents. Fraser Island is a place that I wouldn’t suggest going to or living in.
It’s crazy to think there are dangerous places like this. I grew up in Phoenix and granted there are snakes and scorpions there. But for the most part as long as you drink a lot of water, you’ll be fine.

popularity of iphones and androids
Most Americans have smartphones, but I wanted to know which phone was more popular. I once conducted a survey across the campus at BYU-Idaho and asked random students what kind of phone they had. 63% of the student body own an iPhone. From this survey we can clearly see that iPhones are the most popular on the BYU-Idaho campus. Worldwide Apple sold 216.76 million iPhones in 2017 (McCall). iPhones are the smartphones that are sold the most in America, Australia, Japan, and different parts of Europe (Katariya, 1).
After looking at the successes of Iphones, I took a look at Androids. When random students at BYU-Idaho took my survey about 36% of them own an android (Nuttall). The other 1% owns a different kind of phone. According to The Statistics Portal, “in 2017, 85.9 percent of all smartphones sold had Android as its operating system” with iOS being in second with about 15% (Gartner). Android sold about 1.3 billion smartphones in 2017 (McCall). Android’s main locations for their marketing is in South America, Asia, and parts of Europe and Africa (Katariya, 1).
Some people don’t believe on that until they looked it up themselves. Iphones are way popular than androids in the states. At my job I do a little bit of online troubleshooting with customers and most of our recent problems this year have come from iphones.

Portfolio Epilogue
There’s a lot of things that happened this semester. In private life and also in school. This is my first semester here at UVU and I’ve enjoyed my time in English 2010. This is also the first semester of school of me being married to my wonderful wife. I’ve had a full-time job since being in school and I got a promotion there recently. Most of the writing I’ve done outside of this class is from other assignments in school or writing in my journal. Reflecting back on this semester taking English 2010 has helped me realize the influence of writing/art, made me realize how important writing is, and inspired me to make goals for writing in my future.
Writing and/or art has powerful effect on people. Whether the writing be humorous, emotional, romantic, or even simple. It can mean so much to a person. I was in marching band in high school and that’s when I saw how music can affect people’s lives. Now people liked other marching band shows better than others. Some said one was more fun or one was more meaningful. I also began to notice my mood when I listened to certain types of music. I listen to a variety of genres like country, rock, pop, rap, classical, or even dubstep. When I noticed my mood correlated with the type of music I was listening to, I put together playlists for things that I wanted to be in the mood for. For example, I listen to some rap and dubstep for working out to get me in the right mood for what I’m doing. This semester I realized writing can do the same thing for me and for others. Writing throughout time has already affected people’s lives including mine, I guess I just have never noticed until now. And writing can take many forms such as: poetry, plays, musicals, books, TV, movies, comedy skits, songs, and contracts. Now I can’t say my writing is great, but this semester there has been songs, books, and movies that have definitely influenced my life this semester. One example is a book called “The Two Most Important Days of Your Life” by Chad Hymas. The title of the book is a famous quote by Mark Twain and it’s really given me something to ponder about. It made me rethink about what is really important to me in my life. Writing has the power to influence lives and that is one of the reasons why writing is so important.
I wanted to go over other things that I’ve reflected on about other reasons why writing is important. Most of the writing I read is at my job. I work at call center for Capital One and a lot of the things I read there are things like statements, policies, and certain instructions we agents use to help our customers. It’s not really the most inspiring or imaginative writing, but it has taught me a few things. It’s taught me to pay attention to the details, also known as “the fine print”. Most people skip the terms of conditions and then call us to complain about a certain card they got instead one they wanted. Going through these types of conversations did teach me to be patient of course. And that’s the type of writing I’ve been exposed to since I took the job in January. Other than that, I have read self-development books throughout the year. English 2010 has made my view of writing open very wide, even to writing/art I haven’t been exposed to before. And that there’s so many other things writing can help with. Using skills from the class, and with the help of family, I was able to make a pretty good resume for a promotion I wanted. I didn’t write an essay, but I was able to condense certain things that made them applicable to the promotion. Writing is pretty infinite with the number of things it’s important for. Even with Mr. Burton bringing in his dad to speak about his career and the importance of reflection. Just reflecting on that experience, I was opened to the vast opportunities writers can have. Not only teaching, but writing plays, speeches, and novels. Another important thing I learned about writing is the ability to go back to your previous work and reflect on that. That made me more motivated to write in my journal more often. I can look back on past experience and not only remember what happened but learn from that experience.
I’ve had writing classes before, but I don’t think any of them inspired to make goals for writing after I graduate. Now I’ll be honest my writing goals are not quite yet “smart” goals. They’re not really specific or measurable just yet but they are good ideas so far. I did want to mention as well that my career may not involve a lot of writing at all. I’m going into accounting and I like to work with numbers a lot more than words. I use excel a lot more the Microsoft word if that sort of puts some perspective on it. But reflecting back on this course I learned that writing is a great way express myself. Now in art there’s lots of things people can express about themselves. Whether it be pictures, painting, music, poems, acting, or sculptures. I use music to express myself already, as I sort of briefly mentioned before. But these essays I’m writing in school can be a way I can express myself. But the main thing I want to continue doing throughout my life is to continue to write in my journal. Now that is something I already do, and I honestly didn’t do a lot this semester. And looking back on that I kind of regret it. Once I die, people will of course remember the memories I had with others, but what would be left behind? Family won’t keep my clothes or shoes or other valuables, but they may keep my writing work. Words have a way of showing your legacy after you’re physically gone.

This is also part of the superhero tour in New York City. This one had an interesting story for the filming of this. These are from the Avengers movie in 2012. The Metlife building is where the Stark Tower is suppose to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or later becomes the Avengers Tower. This spot is where the Avengers Assembled for the first time on the big screen. The part of the city is super busy especially with the Grand Central Terminal which has millions of people traveling around this area daily. But Disney wanted to film in this part of New York and the requested to have it blocked off so they can film scenes for the Avengers film.
New York originally said no, but then Disney wrote the City a check for probably a large amount of money and they said yes they can film in that spot. Disney only had 72 hours to film and the roads connecting to the area wear blocked off. While filming, Disney noticed 6 green light posts on the road where the scene was supposed to take place. These green lamps actually was messing up the special effects team because they were trying to animate the Hulk, who happens to also be green. Disney ended up having to paint 5 out of the 6 light posts so that they wouldn’t have that problem.

This building in New York city was also part of the super hero tour. It was used in the Superman movies with Christopher Reeves as the hero. The building was called the Daily Planet in the movies and the globe in the actual building was used for those films.
The globe was built in the 1930s so some of the countries on there may not really exist anymore.

This was part of my trip to New York City and this was a superhero tour I went on. I thought I might as well go on a tour, especially since most superheroes and their stories take place in New York. This part of the tour was interesting. The building to the right behind the branches may not seem like much but this building was one of the first apartment buildings on the island of Manhattan. The top of the building was used a lot in the original Spider Man trilogy with Tobey Maguier playing the hero. The building was used as the Green Goblin’s evil lair, or where the Osborne’s lived.
The bridge to the left was used in one of Marvel’s TV series, Punisher.

I went to New York City for the first time recently and I had a great time. Most of the time I just recognized buildings or made references from movies and tv shows. I started to remember movies like Elf or Crocodile Dundee where the main character goes to New York City for the first time and is not used to the environment there. We visited most of the tourist places on the island of Manhattan, one of them being the Statue of Liberty. I didn’t go on the actual island, but it was nice to see it from a distance.

This is from the famous comedy show known as the office and this scene really shows the personality of Micheal Scott. Micheal played by Steve Carrell is the boss of this branch of a paper company and he just dropped off one of his employees at the hospital. Micheal is very clumsy and that morning he ran over that employee with his car in the parking lot.
He came back from the hospital to give the rest of the coworkers the news, and the way he phrases it is hilarious. Especially with Stanley’s response at the end. Highly recommend this show.

Now let me make this clear, making the most money doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the best movie ever. But with a 94% on rotten tomatoes, I would say it’s definitely a movie most people enjoyed.
Being a fan of marvel for a while, I was super happy about this. Movies like Avatar and Titanic have been holding the box office record for a while now. Marvel Studios has made more than 20 movies before Endgame and some of them have made them quite a bit of money. But with the cliff-hanger ending in Avengers: Infinity War and with this movie being the last movie for the core Avengers, this movie was expected to make a lot of money.
It’s definitely a satisfying ending to a pretty good movie franchise.

So this is finally happening. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have wanted a black widow movie for a long time. It’s kind of weird timing, especially since we know she dies in Avengers Endgame. But I guess it doesn’t matter because we’re still getting one.
For those who don’t know, Black Widow is a spy/super hero in marvel comics and more recently has been seen on the big screen many times. She is one of the founding members of the Avengers in the 2012 movie and has been a fan favorite for a while. She was the first female superhero to be introduced to the MCU, and she is far from the last.
