I’ve added Lost Legacy Clive and Pandora’s Call Hershel to the comparison line up, Clive’s ended up quite different and he has to wear a wig instead of a hat when pretending to be Luke, who also happens to be his half brother in this au.

I’m not entirely attached to the colour of Hershel’s gloves, cane or prosthetic so they may change, you may also notice a bit of purple on Hershel’s prosthetic reminiscent of the favourite colour of a certain scientist who made the leg for Hershel.

Also I included the cane here, though he doesn’t need it all of the time (I feel like Hershel is the type to not use the cane as much as he probably should). His gloves are to protect the burn scars on his hands/stop them from drying out too much.

So I decided to play Mystery Journey firsthand and noticed something interesting.

So we all know that Kat doesn't think she needs an assistant. In fact, her second line about Ernest is, "I told him I don't need help, but he won't listen" and later she says "I don't remember asking for a personal assistant" when Ernest refers to himself as such.

Something I noticed: Kat never actually tells Ernest to leave. She never says anything to insinuate that her, Ernest, and Sherl wouldn't be investigating together. What really settled this for me was the little bit leading into case 2 where it's mentioned that *Ernest made the fliers that advertised the agency.*

Ignoring that it proves Kat does need an assistant, since she did no advertising herself, it means Ernest knew when the agency would be open for business. And something about Kat is, generally speaking, when she doesn't like something, she's *very vocal* about it.

If she genuinely didn't want Ernest around, he wouldn't have been there at all. Kat doesn't push back against him being at the agency and joining investigations. She only pushes back when Ernest says he's her assistant. He wants to help, and she doesn't want to admit she needs any.

I doubt she'd directly admit she enjoys Ernest being around the agency either, but that's not the point.
