Vecchi Mari, “The Town Where Past Meets Present”

Vecchi Mari (”old seas”) is hypothesized to have been the first settlement of colonizers two centuries ago, before their march eastward. Evidence of Hoenn cultures are most prominent, namely the presence of murals depicting the warring relationship between Groudon and Kyogre permeating many former homesteads and centers of trade. Much of the humble town is now underwater off of the coastline.

Reasons for the town becoming submerged vary, with many believing the occurrence was completely natural. Others deem the event to be something much more ominous. It’s believed by some that the bordering forest, Dell’anima (derived from “forest of souls”), and the specters that inhabit it led the town to ruin. Many who’ve wandered along the west coast of Alto-Mare have never returned, further fueling the myths that the land is cursed.

It’s resident Gym appears to have been grass-type based. Curiously, the sanctuary of Vecchi houses the smallest variety of Pokemon, predominantly occupied by ghost-types, as well as water-types further off the coast near the barrier reefs westward.
