2 for Susan x Jenny; also 2 for Hackle
2. What song fits your pairing the most?
This always ends up being either songs I’ve vidded a ship to, or want to vid them to, or have used to title fics.
Susan/Jenny: I vidded them to Cast Away by Cœur de pirate, and I love that song for them a lot. I don’t really have other specfic songs that I can think of, but I do tend to associate them with a lot of the Teachers soundtrack songs, which are also very much the kind of music I listened to a lot in my mid-late teens. (I definitely titled my first fic for them from Buck Rogers by Feeder, which is from the first series soundtrack.)
Hackle: I’ve vidded them to Your Bones by Of Monster and Men, so that, and I have also begun a second vid of them but I’m keeping that song a secret for now, as I hope to premiere the vid at a con later this year. But aside from those, I’m very into Thea Gilmore for them - I’ve titled a number of my Hackle fics from her songs. Sol Invictus has always felt very them to me, as does Rise, And We’ll Dance, and Midwinter Toast.

For the Pagan-interfaith bunnies in your life (I don’t care if that’s just me OK)
On Midwinter’s Day - Damh the Bard (So come all you people, come and sing with me / All over the land a chorus of voices will sing for the rising sun…)
Star of Wonder - Tori Amos (Some say a star will rise again / In the hearts of humankind)
Donna and Blitzen - Badly Drawn Boy (Wait for the light / But you may still slide / Baby it’s not your sleigh ride / But this year is ours)
Thea Gilmore’s Midwinter Toast (I don’t believe in many things / But here’s my hymn to you all…)
Ring Out, Solstice Bells - Jethro Tull (Ring out these bells…) and this is just the best most 70s song video ever
All The Little Lights - Passenger (We’re born with millions of little lights shining in the dark / And they show us the way)
Light - Sleeping At Last (The world is brighter than the sun now that you’re here)
Winter Song - Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson (I still believe in summer days / The seasons always change / And life will find a way)
A Long December - Counting Crows (It’s been a long December and there’s reason to believe / Maybe this year will be better than the last) in: songs that got you through some tough New Years
White Winter Hymnal - Fleet Foxes (And I turn round and there you go…)
Gower Wassail - Iona - gorgeous version of the English folk song for the new year wassail - with a Celtic twist
Winter Winds - Mumford and Sons (Was it love or fear of the cold that led us through the night?)
Oiche Chiuin - Enya you haven’t lived till you’ve heard Silent Night in Gaelic
Joseph, Better You Than Me - The Killers, Elton John & Neil Tennant (When she took her stand / Did she hold your hand? Will your faith stand still / Or run away?)
River - Joni Mitchell (They’re putting up reindeer and singing songs of joy and peace / Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on)
Christmas Is Interesting - Jonathan Coulton (You go to bed and you wait for Jacob Marley / He comes to make you feel brave / But under his cloak he is nothing but smoke / And a finger that points at your grave…)
Winter - Tori Amos (When you gonna make up your mind? ‘Cause things are gonna change so fast / All the white horses have gone ahead)
Winter Prayers - Iron and Wine (Well she left you the holes / The tracks in the back yard, December snow…)
Christmas Lights - Coldplay (…Maybe they’ll bring her back to me / Then all my troubles will soon be gone / Those Christmas lights keep shining on)
Cold In Ohio - Jamie Lawson (It’s cold in New York City with that north wind blowing through / It’s cold in Ohio but it’s warm here next to you)
Fairytale of New York - The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl (I’ve got a feeling / This year’s for me and you) the song that can’t decide if it loves or hates you but it definitely hates Christmas
The Rebel Jesus - Jackson Browne (But they’ve turned the nature that I worship in / From a temple to a robber’s den / In the words of the rebel Jesus…)
