Okay, so I've been complaining about the Vrana/Mantha trade for ten thousand years. Let's bitch about the Kings now.

Well, not the team as much as the fans. I sincerely fucking hope that Quinton Byfield ignores social media. Like, not everyone is Drew lol, reading negative shit about yourself as a rookie has to be even more consuming than Doughty being petty and mentally flipping everyone off.

And like. I don't know. It kinda sucks he's living alone, Kopi could have adopted another son besides JAD maybe. But idk. I feel like he does pay at least some attention. And that makes me so fucking sad. I wish he was staying with a vet, just so he's not in some place all by himself.

During WJC21 you kinda got the impression in his interviews that he was ABSOLUTELY aware of the talk about how he was a bust, how the Kings should have drafted Stützle. Look. They fucking didn't. They drafted the guy who HASN'T been playing in a men's league. They drafted the kid that EVERY EXPERT SAID would be a WIP but that his ceiling was sky high. They need that franchise centerman to replace Kopi and that's what they tried to draft.

Like my fucking god, leave him alone. The absolute vitriol that has been thrown at this literal teenager is F U C K I N G WILD. Would people be as mad if they had Stützle instead and if he went about like how Vilardi's season has been going?

And I am, by no means, trying to hate on Gabe. I really like that kid. But he is struggling rn. He didn't even fucking look pleased or happy when he finally scored, and that's so fucking sad bc he went through so much to get back to playing. Byfield hadn't even played a single game and people were like "He's a fucking bust," like fuck off. Actually just fuck off.

Ask yourselves why are you SO FUCKING EXCITED AND HAPPY at the thought that Byfield will be a let down, that Kings should have drafted German white boy Stützle, like why are y'all SO DESPERATE to be right that Blake fucked up and shouldn't have drafted the black kid so high.

Most drafts had Kings picking Byfield. The ones who thought they'd still pick Stützle seemed to think it had to do with the fact that the org had talked to him a lot and really liked his character and you know, holdover from Lombardi I guess, character trumps all, even skill.

I get the impression he DOES read media. I got that impression during WJC21 when Stützle was doing so well and everyone was like "Byfield hasn't done anything," bc in some of his interviews he seemed to indicate that he did know this shit was being said.

I mean LAKI has been an aggressively bad spot this year lol, but also like ffs. He was on a stacked to the gods Canadian team. He was on their bottom six lines. Playing a more defensive role. Getting limited minutes. Stützle was getting top line minutes.

And let's talk about his draft. Let's talk about how everyone was so fucking mad that people kept asking him how it felt being the highest drafted black player, how they were just catering to snowflake SJWs, blah blah. Y'all are so fucking pressed when something doesn't involve you. So fucking upset.

Fuck all the way off tbh. Leave Byfield the fuck alone. Let him have this. It's something to be fucking proud of, it's an achievement, and just because white people aren't part of the narrative doesn't make it suddenly less relevant or less important.

Now. We can note areas of play that he could work on, etc etc, I know people have mentioned he some times took wacky penalties in Ontario, stuff like that, sure. Fair game.

But y'all are literally being so fucking mean to a fucking teenager. Does this fill y'all with some kind of glee to complain about historic moments like his draft position or his line in the AHL? Do y'all feel good? You never needed to look far to find a fucking hockey role model who looked like you. Some of the outrageous overreaction and "We should trade him, he's a bust, we never should have drafted him" seems more like it's some kind of...racist bullshit, honestly.

I hope he wins Cups and gets his number in the fucking rafters at Staples and for all the people bitching hellaciously to choke harder than Shit Jose in 2014.
