#something odd to me i guess is the way people tend to frame patton as some kind of master manipulator #hes really... not. you guys know that right #patton is a side who is trying his best and not doing super awesome at it because c!thomas was instilled with particular beliefs-- #(cough. cough. catholicism) #that ask for total moral/ethical perfection from a human being and total selflessness and dedication to doing what's right #patton is; at least partially; a manifestation of that belief #patton is in his current state very impulsive and when he ISNT impulsive he is incredibly thoughtful but not CALCULATING #patton is the heart. he's the heart #like i dont know how people end up straying so far away from easily laid out canon #canon to the point of it literally being a repetitive motif and way the character is referenced #im losing my mind. sorry #LIKE!!! i dont even think patton is perfect or anywhere near there #part of the REASON i like her so much is that he is FLAWED #to hell and back #but in the end patton sanders isnt a story of someone who's pulling strings to get what he wants #hes a story of just some guy trying his best to do his job and fucking up #because the way he's existed for all of his life is conflicting with what is actually good for thomas #does this make sense. am i going insane
