Thinking again about how much happier people would be if they would accept that adaptations are adaptations and don't ruin the original and differences in characterization can easily be explained by the fact they're telling a different story and, if you want an in-universe explanation, it's a completely different reality.

#idk maybe reading marvel comics for years adjusted me to 'these are not the exact same characters they're counterparts' #sometimes I'll see people saying things about manga versions of certain anime-original series characterization changes #or I'll see a post about an anime that's very clearly Not The Same Story as the manga it's adapting #and it's fine to prefer one or the other but when it's so obviously Not The Same Story it just feels like you should consider that #it matters more if the character fits the story they're in than if the character is 'better' in one version or another #especially since most 'criticism' I see in these cases is personal taste framed as objective truth
