I love your artstyle. I was wondering if you were inspired by a certain artist or it just developed on it's own? P.S. Never stop creating, I love everything you put out!!!
oh my goodness - firstly thank you so much !!!!! <3
hmm- ok, so I've been drawing regulalrly since i was what...12?? and i'm now 24 !! i am inspired by so many artists (and so many other things in general) - I will list a few artists and art movements that I've drawn inspo from in one way or another !! (really hoping this post gets to the dash bc im popping a lot of links to art and credits to photos and what not aghhhh!))
----
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NEO EXPRESSIONISM neo expressionism was an art movment I really leant into when I was at university. Artists such as Luciano Castelli acted as points of intrestet and inspo there !! Other movements that took me by storm at uni included german expressionism and impressionism -- my university city (leicester - UK) held one the largest collections of german expressionist art in the UK !!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
EGON SCHIELE - specicifcally his line drawings - they have such a lot of life and energy to them! His water colours are also something special too me -! I found out about this art when i was doing my BTEC (pre uni- would have been.... 16/17??) - remember going into the library at my tech collage and finding a book with his art and being in awe - it blew my mind in the best way ! FUN FACT - Schiele was the protege of Gustav Klimt - another artist I get a lot of happy inspo vibes from !! (but will talk abt klimt another time!!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CLAMP / 90S SHOJO MANGA - in recent years i've fallen back in love with manga (in my pre-teens and early teens i was a big manga fan - naruto was probz my first special interest ) - but in the past few years i've looked into shojo and josei mangas - the manga house CLAMP has had such a pull on me - maybe its how they use colour - im just in awe when i see their work omg <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media

HIROHIKO ARAKI / JOJO'S BIZARRED ADVENTURE - what im gonna say for now as my final source of inspo - JJBA and Araki's work came into my world the same time as the paintings and drawings of Schiele!! His use of colour and fashion drawing feel makes me very very happy to see !!

Hey! I made the spinach and crushed tomatoes recipe the other night and my bf loved it! Even took the leftovers to work the same night. Do you have any other recipes you really like?
awww, I'm so happy to hear that!!
I only cook sometimes (will definitely learn more before I start uni!) so here's my other favourite recipe for hiroshima-style okonomiyaki!!! my siblings request this ALL THE TIME and while it requires a lot more skill than the pasta sauce, it is DELICIOUS and SO FILLING.
Tumblr media
you'll need okonomiyaki flour, cabbage, eggs, noodles, bean sprouts, spring onion and japanese mayo!! for the sauce, you need japanese soy sauce, oyster sauce, tomato sauce and sesame oil. you can also buy the sauce pre-made, but I understand that could be difficult to find!!
savoury pancake mix add 100ml of water to 100g of okonomiyaki flour and mix until smooth and liquid, you don't want it too thick!! we're making savoury pancakes here!!
preperation!! chop up the cabbage beforehand, as well as washing all the vegetables and slicing the spring onion. you'll want the eggs on hand too!! making this requires speed (and two pans!!) you also need to cook the noodles beforehand, and make the sauce. for the sauce, I just eyeball it- add around one tablespoon of each sauce, and only a little bit of sesame sauce!!
cooking! put two hands over medium heat on the stove, make sure each one has a bit of oil so nothing sticks!! in pan A, pour some of the savoury pancake mix until it's pancake sized. you'll need maybe half a cup, just go with what feels the right size (: next, add cabbage and bean sprouts before even flipping it. they'll stick to the uncooked side, this is what you want!! add a drizzle of pancake mix on top. don't flip it over.
In pan B, you'll be frying some of the noodles, about a handful. spread them out until they're the same size as the pancake, and drizzle some of the sauce you made on them for flavour. when the noodles are crispy and stuck together more (this means less mess!!), you have to flip the pancake over onto the noodles. this can be difficult, I often use two flippers/turners whatever they're called, one on the top and one on the bottom, would recommend this.
now that pan A is free again, add a little more oil and crack oven your egg. you want to break the yolk and stir it around until it's swirled and marbled, but not until its scrambled. the aim is to fry it like you usually would but with the yolk mixed in!! try to spread it out a little bit, again to almost the size of the pancake. once it's mostly cooked, get your two flippers and flip over the pancake-noodle amalgamation onto the egg!! at this point the pancake will be on the TOP, noodles in the MIDDLE, egg on the BOTTOM. after that, you're going to flip the whole thing off the pan onto a plate, so the pancake is on the bottom and the egg is on the top. you're done cooking!!!
finishing touches!! drizzle the sauce you made over the okonomiyaki (don't drown it!!) and criss cross the japanese mayo. or draw a smiley face. or a horse. go wild. then sprinkle your spring onion on top!! if you have some, furikake sprinkles can be so delicious to add as well. you're all done!!
notes making one of these takes around 2-5 minutes, you have to be quick and alert as to not burn something!! it's a little stressful but 100000% worth it, I was actually taught this recipe when I was lucky enough to be able to do a student exchange trip to japan when I was 12!! I'm 17 now and still make this regularly. it's amazing.
there are versions with pork, but I don't love meat so I leave it out, but there are totally recipes out there with it included!!

Hi! I love your comic Lore Rekindled, it's pretty entertaining! (definetely planning on reading Time Gate when I finally have some time lol). I'm currently very early in the process of making a comic myself, and while I have the main idea down, and the planning sorta done (I'm busy with uni, so I've been working on it bit by bit), I can't seem to figure out how to grow an audience. I was wondering how you did it and how long it took?
oh god oh no y'all are asking me how to grow an audience UH-
so like, here's the thing, I can try and give you pointers, but I also like... don't consider myself as someone with an audience ?? Like obviously there's an audience for Lore Rekindled but up until that point, Time Gate's been running for like 10+ years and I think it only has 5-10 regular readers nowadays, it peaked in its audience numbers years ago when it was still on Tapas before their platform went downhill and I bailed and since then the industry has only become more and more saturated making it even harder to get seen. Rekindled, on the other hand, has been super refreshing to work on because of how much people have flocked to it (which was surprising af but I couldn't be happier about it ngl it's been great ;o; <3) but that's really because Rekindled had the advantage of a pre-existing audience to tap into (specifically the communities of ULO/antiLO/etc. who were looking for something to rejuvenate their love for what once was in LO). So that made it a bit easier to build an audience, but that's something that goes for a lot of fandoms.
Original stuff is definitely a bit of a harder sell because you have to go out and find the people who might like your stuff and then convince them to give it a try. Building an audience in an original market is just not something I've ever been good at, I can't stand social media, I don't like "playing the algorithm", I just want to tell a story with my own characters and because of that, it often feels like I'm posting to the void with only a couple cheerleaders rooting me on. Which like, don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the readers I DO have, but it can make creating comics feel like an uphill slog when you're not seeing any growth at all every time you update and try your best to advertise. Original projects are my own personal boulder if y'know what I'm saying ( ̄y▽, ̄)╭
At the very least, working on Rekindled has definitely helped open up the doors for Time Gate a couple more inches, because a lot of stuff in Rekindled is also in Time Gate so when people enjoy Rekindled, I can point them towards Time Gate and go "Oh, you like Persephone's hot and cold characterization? You like Charon's aloofness? You like the banter between Hades and Persephone? Go read Time Gate." (。・∀・)ノ゙
That said, I think the best experience I've had with marketing Time Gate so far actually happened this year - when I went to the Island Entertainment Expo, a gaming and media convention (similar to Comic Con but on a waaaaay smaller scale lmao). There I was actually able to talk to people face to face and draw them in with physical proof of my work, it was less posting and hoping and more connecting with others and showing them my work and giving them an elevator pitch. And considering it was a convention full of like-minded people cosplaying as video game and anime characters, Time Gate fit right in because that's the niche it was written for. I'm due to go to another convention in June and possibly one in October (if I get in) and I'm hoping they're just as successful as IEX was because it was so refreshing to actually get to market my comic on a playing ground catered to my work; rather than one that would bury it after 30 seconds just for not posting at the right time of day or using the exact right combination of hashtags or not using reels.
Of course, doing tables and stuff is something that you're likely not going to jump right into especially when you're starting out. So considering you're just starting, focus less on growing an audience and more on just making your comic. It's a lot better of a sell to an audience when you have proof of your work existing and your biggest struggle in the beginning isn't going to be building an audience, but building good habits. A lot of webcomics don't even make it past a year of regular publication because of how difficult it is in practice to maintain a regular schedule. Often times the people who don't make it past that year either get bored, overwhelmed, or burnt out from the work it requires, especially when they're drawing the same characters over and over and over again - and even more so when they're doing it by themselves, with next to no audience, and no return investment. No exaggeration, drawing comics is hard, but like going to the gym, it gets easier as you get into your groove and learn what works and doesn't work for you as a creator.
Most of all, while I do hope that anyone going into webcomics can build themselves an audience they can be proud of having, please please please don't go into making webcomics purely for building an audience, because it's hard and not guaranteed. As I had said above, I still don't even consider myself as someone with an audience in the traditional sense because when it comes to Time Gate, it's still a VERY small thing, and with Rekindled, I consider the people who read it less of "my audience" and more just the community that I came into who engages with my work because it's made specifically for the community. So please, for the love of god, do it for yourself first and foremost, don't get trapped in the grind of chasing an audience when you're still just getting your work off the ground <3
I hope that helps a little, sorry I don't have a more direct "do xyz and that'll do the trick!" answer (and it turned into another essay post) but to be perfectly honest, that straightforward answer just sorta doesn't exist in this industry. Sometimes you get an audience from catering to a niche, sometimes you get one from going viral on IG, sometimes you get one from climbing the ladder within the industry, it all depends. But the good news is, there's no surefire 100% way that you have to be obligated to stick to. It's okay if you try some things and they don't work, just as it's okay if you don't feel like doing things the way everyone else is telling you to. Just have fun, learn lots, and be open to putting yourself out there and trying new things! \( ̄︶ ̄*\))

Funny things I've done as MDZS characters, part 2
Part 1 here
Jin Zixuan: i had a massive crush on a 12th grade/senior guy in high school (i was 10th grade/sophomore) and i didn't know how to approach him (he was always the one starting conversations... in which i was awkward as hell), and we stopped talking at some point because i guess he got tired of always be the one to initiate and show interest. Then he graduated. He had a little sister the same age as me in the same school (but we were in different classes) so he came to my graduation ceremony 2 years later for her and tried talking to me but i was too anxious not to forget the valedictorian speech that i brushed him off and ignored him again. He's still single.
Jiang Yanli: almost every night, i cut up fruit in cute shapes for my family to snack on while watching tv. I always add colorful toothpicks and cocktail umbrellas to make them smile.
Yu Ziyuan: when my old cat was still a kitten, she knocked off a decoration in my room i really liked, didn't break it, but i still yelled at her for 30 minutes straight. She fell asleep midway through.
Wen Ruohan: i made a blacklist of the names of people i have but would not ever be doing uni projects with again (after being screwed over like 5 times) and openly consulted it on my phone when these very same people asked to work with me once more.
Baoshan Sanren: whenever i am home alone, i draw all my blinds and lock all my doors so that nobody knows i am home and comes to bother me. It is very effective.
Xiao Xingchen: in middle school, despite being bullied myself, i stood up for a classmate who was being made fun of because of his learning disability, and he wordlessly gave me a piece of candy during lunch every single day for the rest of the school year (he transferred the next).
Xue Yang: got into a 2 hour debate on the most "interesting" methods to torture and kill people while i was supposed to study for an exam about ethics and human rights. I aced it.
Song Lan: i sanitized all my carpets after a guest "forgot" to take her shoes off before entering (pre-pandemic).
A-Qing: i cussed someone out for picking fruit off my trees without asking... on my way back from having picked fruit from a neighbor's tree without asking. But that neighbor was an animal-abusing asshole and he deserved it.
Jin Guangshan: my current cat got her heat 2 weeks before her spaying appointment and managed to sneak out of the house one day... came back the next morning with two boyfriends. Didn't get pregnant. They hiss at her whenever they see her now.
Lan Wangji pt. 2: for the 8th grade "prom", the headteacher paired everyone up because we were equal numbers of boys and girls and she thought it would be cute (there is no 'asking someone to go to prom' where i'm from). I ended up paired with a guy i'd been crushing on for a while, he picked me up from my house with flowers, we took a lot of pictures and had a lot of fun together. A slow dance song came on at some point and he invited me to dance, so i tried to be subtle and look at him and his lips to hint i wanted to kiss him, i put my head on his chest etc... he didn't get it. At the end of the song he told me he "had a lot of fun with a great friend". I was so pissed off, i called a cab to go home by myself... but he looked so dejected about it that i took him with and dropped him to his house on my way to mine.
Wei Wuxian pt. 2: i had this friend who moved in a different city and, after her boyfriend broke up with her like a dick while she had a million other problems on her plate, i decided to visit her to cheer her up (because she didn't have many friends there yet). I asked her for the best places to eat and paid for everything, we went visiting local attractions and took a long walk together in a beautiful park at sunset. When we arrived at her apartment, i was dead tired, so i took a quick shower and settled in to watch a movie to sleep. I paid no mind to the fact that she decided to sleep in lingerie and that she was very cuddly and touchy - because i too am cuddly and touchy with people. At some point, she started telling me about how she was unlucky in love and how she wished someone "like me" would treat her right, and she reached for her phone at some point and accidentally fell on top of me... but i was so sleepy i could only say something like "you'll find the right man someday" and fell asleep like the dead. She was so pissed the next morning and i never understood why... until 3 years later when a mutual friend told me that girl had been trying to get me in bed for months, at which point that girl and i were no longer on speaking terms (and i never saw her that way regardless) Anyway she just came out as bi.

Working on a draw request and it just makes me wish my uni had a botanical drawing class. Would be my first actual art class that I might feel comfortable being in.
Shoutouts to the art streams (pre-Twitch) that got me to pick up drawing again.

A collection of ink drawings from over the years.  All of these are at least 1-2 years old, if not far older, but I still enjoy how they look.  Done with pen & ink on paper.
You might recognize the last two images if you’ve been following me on tumblr for a very, very long time!
Third image was a redraw of this ink drawing.  The old one was a favourite during portfolio pre-reviews when I was prepping for uni applications, so I redid it (probably in 2019 or 2020 at the very latest) to show off current skills.
Last image is just a digitally cleaned & coloured version of this old ink drawing.  I do still like the old one, but boy howdy did I not know how to get a decent photo of my work back then.

Summary: On autumn & associations.
Tags: Ficlet, College/Uni AU, POV Logan, Character Study, Slice of Life
Content warning: Past unhappy home life (briefly implied)
Relationship focus: Friendship/found family for all; Logan/Patton (pre-relationship); Roman/Virgil (pre-relationship)
_____________
It’s while he’s walking home from the library that Logan notices it: the leaves are beginning to crunch underfoot. He doesn’t realise he’s slowed his pace until he comes to a complete standstill, and then he blinks and taps his foot on the pathway experimentally. The fallen leaves are curled, dry like paper; when he glances down, the sight of amber and brown surprises him, somewhat—he usually tracks the changing of the seasons with clockwork precision, but now autumn seems to have snuck up on him all at once. It’s an odd feeling, thinking back to the silent dread that would normally accompany this time of year: the nights drawing in and getting colder, leaving him unable to spend the evenings outside (away from home, blessedly alone). Something twists in his chest. Sadness, even remembered sadness, is hard to shake.
As he nears the tower block, he can see that the light is on in their apartment, a golden glow cast from the kitchen-cum-living room on the fourth floor. There’s the silhouette of someone in the window; Logan recognises it as being Virgil when the figure gives him a customary half-salute-half-wave.
Logan waves back.
When he opens the front door, it’s to be immediately greeted by the sound of chatter drifting from the kitchen. He smiles when he hears his name—“Yeah, well, Logan can be the judge,”—and calls out a greeting before following the voices into the room.
“Finally,” Roman says. His legs are dangling over the arm of the couch; he’s wielding a script that has multiple page corners folded over, sticky notes galore. With his free hand, he gestures expansively to the window and says, “Cast your eye over our toil.”
Virgil, still by the window, scoffs. “You mean my toil.”
He presses something against the glass and as Logan gets closer, it’s clear why Virgil had been standing there to begin with: the window has been decorated with bats made from cleverly folded pieces of black card.
Logan settles on the couch, leaning on his knees; he shoves Roman’s legs out of the way as he does so, ducking to avoid Roman hitting him in the head with the script—a well-oiled routine. As he asks, “So, what am I judging?”, he peers over the top of the couch and finds Patton sitting cross-legged on the floor, grinning up at him.
“The bats,” Patton answers. Pieces of Halloween themed scotch tape cling to his fingertips, rows of smiling pumpkins—a little strip adorns the bridge of his glasses which, Logan thinks with affection, could equally be an accident or intentional.
“You need to be more specific, Pat,” Virgil says. “It’s between my bats,”—he nods at the upper half of the window—“and Roman’s.” He points further down, where a row of what looks like black amorphous blobs are stuck, to varying degrees of success.
“Ah.” Logan fights a smirk. “Well, it’s a close call.”
This time, he does not avoid Roman’s signature ‘script to the head’ move. “Rude! Mine have character.”
“Yeah, sure they do,” Virgil replies, “they’re works of art; Van Gogh’s got nothing on them.” It’s probably supposed to sound like biting sarcasm, but when directed at Roman, it’s like he can’t stop the fondness from colouring every word.
“Judging matters aside, you are aware that it’s not Halloween yet?” Logan asks.
Virgil gives him a deeply unimpressed look.
“If you value your life,” Roman says in a ridiculous stage whisper, “you’ll drop that question.”
“Too late,” Virgil says; and he gives an evil looking smile, all teeth, which might have been intimidating, once, if Logan didn’t know that the more terrifying Virgil acts, the greater he values the friendship.
Patton shuffles over to the window and places the rest of the tape on Roman’s ‘bats’ before standing up to point at Virgil, mock-stern. “No outright spookiness until Halloween.”
“Damn,” Virgil says with a shrug. “I’ll have to push back the crypt rental.”
“Surprisingly not the worst thing you’ve said today,” Roman says.
“And on that note,” Logan says, “I’m leaving.”
He doesn’t, of course—he just goes to the kitchen area, leaning over the counter awkwardly to check that the toaster is plugged in.
“Uh, what are you doing?” Patton says.
Logan turns. Patton’s at the sink, filling up a glass of water.
“Making… toast?” Logan says, confusion growing. “It’s—I was late coming back, so I don’t really have time to do a full—”
“Yeah, but…” Patton sets down the glass then opens the fridge. He brings out a bowl covered in plastic wrap; there’s one of Roman’s sticky notes on top, with Logan’s name written in Patton’s hand. There’s also an entirely inaccurate doodle of Saturn. “I saved you some pasta,” Patton says.
“Oh.” Logan takes the bowl. “Um, thank you.” He almost leaves it there, but a little apologetic impulse creeps up. “You didn’t have to—”
“But I did,” Patton finishes. He winks, and it seems more understanding than teasing.
All of a sudden, Logan decides that he doesn’t want to point out that piece of tape still stuck to Patton’s glasses: it suits him, he thinks.
Logan heats the pasta up—underneath the hum of the microwave, he can hear Roman and Virgil still bickering playfully; when he glances over, he watches Patton begin to add his own attempt at bats to the window.
Logan turns back to the microwave, smiling.
The nights might be drawing in, but finds he no longer minds it quite as much.

Week 9 - prototyping
Pre class activities
This week we had a video about prototyping with Andrew Simpson. The way he describes the process of prototyping testing different dimensions and interactions with a product was very familiar to my process of designing my perfume bottle. Once I had identified the basic design, I went about making a number of iterations to alter the design to find a form which was appealing and ergonomic. Using this process I was able to identify a design with a tapered side to a smaller base made for a better ergonomic design.
Exercises
I learnt more this week about the power of the computer assisted world of prototyping and how it can assist you with your designs. The presentation at the MCIC about 3D scanning was really impressive — it’s amazing how for computing power and algorithms have come, even in the 6 years since I was at uni last. Seeing how accurately and quickly designs that have been quickly modelled by hand can be brought into the digital world without needing to use CAD software was surprising. When I visited the MCIC to scan my bottle, I did see the limitations in the process. My design had a few undercuts and “hidden areas” which made it difficult for the computer to scan, making it a delicate process. Even then there were a few artefact errors which make the mesh difficult to work with.
I didn’t have access to my scanned bottle until later in the week, so I used this week’s exercises as a chance to learn about the mesh modelling with the bottle scan provided on Moodle.
Tumblr media
Importing and running the quad remesh in Rhino was very straightforward.
Tumblr media
Once it was in 3dsMax the past few weeks of working with the software meant that I was very comfortable adjusting the object and altering the pivot point.
Tumblr media
The FFD modifier was the most useful tool in this stage of the process (in my opinion). Making small adjustments to the proportions of the model will be really handy.
I used a couple of taper and symmetry commands and the repaint tool to fix a weld seam around the symmetry point, and touch up a couple of scan issues pointed out by Rob in class.
Tumblr media
The end design was a taller and slightly prouder design than the original, but only required minor adjustments.
Reflections
The 3D scanning tool was very quick, however imperfections can take a long time to fix up.
With uncomplicated objects, 3D scanning is probably not the quickest or best way to work with your design in CAD software. However, I can see it used as a guide for simple shapes to draw computer models.
The tools in 3dsMax and other CAD software would allow the design process to create dozens of iterations on a design such as this, making slight adjustments in form in order to gauge the right aesthetic and functional balance with the use of 3D printing.

Original Project
My aims for this project over the Christmas break is to familiarise myself with music distribution and promotion , I intend to release a song onto streaming platforms and promote a pre-existing song through advertising.
I wish to get more comfortable with advertising and distributing my music whilst attempting to accurately cast a net to people who might actually listen to the song, as well as understanding my audience analytics.
To do this me and a contemporary will be releasing an advert on Instagram for a song we released last year called ‘Drilly Xmas’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We looked at the analytics of our demographics as Instagram asks you who to advertise to. This ensures your advertisement can be as successful as possible.
Spotify for artists is a very useful tool as it gives you this information freely and the predominant demographic was UK men between 18-27.
With this knowledge we made the ad which was a snippet of the pre-existing YouTube video and we both paid 15 pounds to promote it over the Christmas period. You can get very forensic with advertising by tailoring the ‘behaviours and habits’ of people who use the app. The same data Instagram uses in its algorithm to show users content they like to consume however we just set the age range and went to all audiences.
This is the ad !
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ad was also linked to the YouTube video and Spotify and was clearly quite successful, before the ad the YouTube video had less than 1k views and now is close to 4K.
The song also gained more then double it’s original streams so I believe this advert was very successful in drawing eyes to ‘Drilly xmas’ and I feel much more confident with future promotion of my music. In this part of the project I’ve gained a more solid understanding of accurately using advertising as a tool to draw attention to my music.
I also feel comfortable in saying this part of the project achieved what I wanted both in learning the skill set and the final outcome as it has gained more attention than anything I’ve done prior.
For the second half of my project I would also like to become much more confident in my understanding of distributing music onto Streaming services, as well as understanding which service is best when it comes to releases.  Before this I have never released a single only ever featuring my work on other artists music so I have never had to distribute anything myself. What I hope to achieve before the end of 2022, is to have a song out on streaming platforms.
I will be putting out a single called ‘The bower’ which has been completed during my time at uni. I have also researched third party distributors to get my song into the platforms and the two I am deciding between is. CD baby and Distrokid. Both offer unique advantages primarily in terms of cost.
CD baby offers a flat fee to release music and then it’s out permanently wheras Distrokid is an annual expense that you can use to release as much music as you would like but if ever you want to cancel you would have to pay extra to keep you music on streaming platforms.
After some deliberation I’ve decided to go with Distrokid as they allow you to upload music in 24bit depth as opposed to CD baby’s 16.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I released ‘The bower’ onto streaming platforms and have an account on Distrokid that I intend to use throughout the year.
As I was so focused on releasing the music I did not promote this release nearly as much as ‘Drilly xmas’ but I believe this has served as a benefit as it has also brought my attention to how important promotion is.
As of 16/1/2022 ‘The bower’ sits on 152 streams which is considerably less than the near 3,000 views the ‘Drilly xmas’ gained over the time period. So this project has also shown me that advertisement really works when it comes to releasing music. As the more people that get shown the music more people will interact with it.
So to summarise at the start of this project I wanted to release a song onto Spotify and to advertise a pre existing track for the holidays, in doing so it has given me the tools to continue doing so in future. It has also given me insight in how successful advertising can be if utilised correctly.
I feel much more prepared to advertise my music again and have lined up more songs to be released through Distrokid as the year goes on.

Update
I can never make up my mine which blog to add things on. This is my horror blog but I was also trying to use my personal blog for posts. I suppose I can just cross reblog them.
I think I would like to start posting my fic and headcanon updates to this blog.
Anyway, here's some fics I'm currently working on:
(Evil Dead the game - NSFW) AoD!Ash/Evil Ash "make a fucked up deal for the good of the group" fic that has rapidly turned in a philosophical discussion of character and choice.
(Evil Dead/Reanimator - SFW) Ash/Herbert. Herbert is hurt while the two are out doing mundane errands and Ash calls into question his own trauma and just how far he'll go to keep his partner.
Here's some fics I want to start:
(Evil Dead/Reanimator) Pre-established Ash/Herbert living in Arkham. Their house is broken into while they're both at work. The lab is ruined and neither realizes that the reagent has been stolen. To try and cheer Herbert up, Ash takes him to a circus that's in town. While there late, Herbert stumbles upon evidence of reagent in the circus.
(Killer Klowns from Outer Space) Dave/Debbie/Mike. movie aftermath hurt/comfort fic where the trio starts to realize that a lot has changed about them all that night.
I would like to write some sort of Jason Voorhees/Harry Warden fic sometime soon.
A fic I have finished:
(Evil Dead the game - SFW) AoD!Ash + Annie have a heart-to-heart one night while the group is resting. They discuss what happened after Annie's death and Ash contemplates where he has fucked up along the line. Link
Vaguely related to the Ashbert fics, I've been drawing a lot of Ashbert lately. here's my art blog Link
I want to get around to drawing more Jason/Harry art as well as start some Killer Klown art. We'll see how this all goes. Uni is hitting me hard and my dad's having surgery next month so I'm very stressed currently and haven't had time to be creative.
But I love to talk about all my horror boys. So, feel free to drop in and say high.

Robert Opel: The original 1974 Oscars streaker

Robert Opel: The original 1974 Oscars streaker
Tumblr media
What a shame John Cena’s faux streak at the 2024 Oscars didn’t draw more interest to Robert Opel, the original 1974 Oscars streaker.
Mainly remembered now for his naked dash across the Oscars stage, Robert Opel was a photographer, speech-writer, English teacher and activist. He protested for gay rights, peace and legalised public nudity.
A friend of both Divine and John Waters, he sometimes performed with The Cockettes. And he promoted the work of Tom of Finland and Robert Mapplethorpe.
The 1974 Oscars
Streaking was quite the thing in the early seventies. People ran naked through sporting events, civic occasions, uni graduations and shopping malls. 1974 Oscars host David Niven’s initial response seemed to reference the ubiquitousness of streaking at major events.
“Well, ladies and gentlemen, that was almost bound to happen…”
While security or police ended the runs of most streakers, Robert enjoyed a brief sortie before heading backstage unmolested. Out the back, the crew found him some overalls and facilitated a press conference.
“People shouldn’t be ashamed of being nude in public,” he told reporters.
Meanwhile, onstage David Niven delivered what would become a much-quoted witticism.
“Isn’t it fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off and showing his shortcomings?”
However, an Oscars official later claimed Niven borrowed a pen from his wife two hours before the incident to write down the ad-lib.
Robert Opel previously streaked through a local council meeting to protest laws against nude beaches. Despite lingering suspicions, he always denied that the streak was pre-arranged with the Oscars producers

After the Oscars
After the notorious 1974 incident, Robert focussed on his photography and activism. In 1976, he ran for president using the slogans “Nothing to Hide” and “Not Just Another Crooked Dick.”
He opened a gay male art studio in 1978 and became one of the first to promote Tom of Finland and Robert Mapplethorpe. He died in 1979, shot dead during an armed robbery at his studio.

For the ask meme: 9, 16, 20, 22, and 30 :) <3
9. Favourite OC? Damaakos, he has nothing to do with my Neverland stuff, but is a very important NPC from my D&D homebrew setting. He is an escaped slave who joined the military so he could get properly trained in combat. When he was trained he ditched service, went back home and started up a rebel group to free the remaining slaves. He's a badass but also a complete sweetheart. 16. What was you first major project? How far along is it? Major is hard to define, but I guess that too would be my D&D homebrew since it has like a world history, a constantly changing state depending on player choices, military regimes, even some basic constructed language development. So it was a lot of work to do. And story wise, it's been finished for a few years, art wise there's a lot left to go. 20. What story are you the proudest of? Why? Actually, Probably 'Never'...even if I haven't updated in an absolute age because of my wrist. It was born from a fic I wrote when I was a LOT younger, but the general idea stayed with me until I was in uni and my dissertation was to write a few episodes of TV show screenplay and also produce a TV bible and all of the complementary material. I decided to revamp it for a different audience and fell in love with the story all over again. Unfortunately shit happened and it didn't go anywhere, and I almost dropped it for good, but I had also grown so attached that I still wanted to share the story so I started rewriting in a more typical fic format and it just sort of keeps growing. 22. What are all the “kinds” of writing/art you do? (short stories, poetry, screenplays, digital, painting, clay, etc.) Pre wrist bullshit I did a lot of drawing, screenplay writing, character design. I also do historical costuming (1660-1790 are my comfort years) It's all slowed a lot down this past year though! 30.How are you doing? <3 Ah! Could be worse...I mean I did find out that my wrist 'injury' is actually a stress fracture I've been walking around with for the past 13 months and I am absolutely ignoring medical advice because they don't make wrist supports short enough for my arms. I have also been *increasingly normal* about the sad pirate husband ever since the trailer release... like I am so incredibly normal that I definitely have not got weepy over the man one bit and have definitely not pushed most of my costuming plans aside to make a Captain Hook themed 1690's mantua >_> because I am of course very normal about him, and adore him the most normal amount.
