oh this is gonna be incoherent but i was rewatching the lollipop scene and i had a Thought.

i'd been confused abt why zhao yunlan does the whole lollipop thing at the point in the conversation that he does, i didn't understand what he was going for or what he gains from this. shen wei is trying to be vulnerable and zhao yunlan is cutting him off? but no! it's teasing! zhao yunlan is looking at this kid, who is so serious and carries so much responsibility, and teasing him for being so serious by using shen wei's own tactics against him!

shen wei just said: you have to be fast. [you have to act] before the enemy notices [what you're doing]. and that's exactly what zhao yunlan does! sticks that lollipop in shen wei's mouth and takes him completely by surprise!
