ok so i should preface this by saying i am in no way a hater of the broadway adaptation of moulin rouge. it's fun! it's a good time! i like karen olivo! i'll take any moulin rouge you put in front of me! but the thing is it doesn't come even CLOSE to the film. i mean i'm sorry but. if they were attempting to capture the essence of the original (which is like equal parts fun, maximalist, dramatic and mournful) they failed so bad lol. the song changes do make sense when you think they wanted to adapt it in a more modern way but it's so funny how it made the whole thing 100x weaker lmaoo and like. you just cannot top nicole kidman giving 200% of herself in that role you CANNOT top that tsk tsk tsk
