For Nicki to have the same background as the books it would be difficult to make him look similar to Louis ofc but they could also just change his family history like they did to Louis I guess. There were black Frenchmen during that time who specifically were prominent in the arts (Chevalier was a violinist!). Or they could make him look vaguely Mediterranean also since Gabrielle is from Naples and that's probably how she looks.

They obviously could not do the Antoine/Louis twinsies thing cause that would've been VERY creepy on Lestat's part.

oh yeah i dont mean to say that there werent Black people in france in the 1700s but i dont think specifically that they'll cast nicki as Black just to draw a visual comparison w louis like that doesnt make sense for a show that has already demonstrated color consciousness. also they definitely could have done the antoine character as a replacement louis like in the book i do NOT think theyre shying away from lestat being a creep. but i think it adds a lot that she's a white woman it juxtaposes them in a different way where louis SHOULD be in the privileged public position at lestats side but isn't because of society and antoinette COULD occupy that position and be accepted but instead is the one hidden away out of town. grounds for crazy levels of resentment
