#older psychiatric diction is so funny #it and modern psychiatry both describe things horribly but nowadays it's also incredibly boring #i might be developing an interest in psychiatric 'discourse' this is truly awful -_- #now the current dsm 5 description of schizoid personality disorder has reduced it to no close friendships #(except for family) #i suppose to maintain the supposed typology of complete coldness #but even in the dsm-5 there's the line: #in those very #unusual circumstances in which these individuals become at least temporarily comfortable in revealing themselves #they may acknowledge having painful feelings particularly related to social interactions #so it's still quite contradictory #largely it's only been the psychodynamicists who have really discussed this underlying pain #allanpost
