I have seen some really shit takes in the wild today so I am here to scream into the void:

Fanfiction is not “content”! Art, in general, is not “content”! Stop devaluing yourself as an artist and fundamentally mischaracterizing the whole concept of creating fanworks just because you're so brainwashed by capitalism that you’ve been made to feel like all good things can or should be monetized!!!

#K talks #I know there's a whole nuanced debate to be had here #about capitalism and oppression and the modern internet and why it is (genuinely) unfair that fanart is more easily monetized than fanfic #and sometimes I enjoy participating in that debate #but my point stands #just say you don't understand the legal system or fandom history or the concept of 'enjoyment' and move on
