part 2/?
Eddie woke to a shrill voice. "Steve fucking Harrington you wake up right now" a woman called
Eddie barely had time to process that he was spooning Steve before Steve jumped out of the bed. "Uh one sec mom, i just need to throw clothes on"
"Thirty seconds" She yelled through the door
Steve whispered to Eddie "Under the bed, Now"
Eddie quickly crawled under the bed bringing his clothes from last night with him just to make sure there was no sign of him. Steve took a deep breath then stood in the middle of the room and called out.
"Im changed"
~~~~~ TW: abuse ~~~~~
Steve's mother walked into the room. Eddie could see that her balance was off but her pace was mostly steady. She was probably drunk. Eddie watched their feet while he was under the bed.
"You stupid kid, you left the fucking door open."
"I'm sorry. It was an accident"
Eddie heard a slap then Steve's mom walked out of the room. On her way out he could hear her say "You're a fucking dissapointment."
~~~~~ abuse tw over ~~~~~
Steve walked to the door and closed it then sat on the bed. "You can come out now."
Eddie crawled out from under the bed. He looked at Steve who had tears quietly dripping down his face. He stood up and held his arms out, offering a hug if Steve wanted it.
Steve immediately stood up and hugged Eddie. He started sobbing into Eddies shoulder.
They heard two car doors slam and a car start and leave.
Eddie squeeses Steve then pulls away slightly to wipe the tears off of Steve's face. "Hey, come here." Eddie says in a comforting voice while pulling Steve into another hug. "It's going to be okay."
"I know, it just hurts. I dont know why she does that. I shouldn't have left the door unlocked."
"Its not your fault. If it was anyones fault it was mine. I was the one who came here at like midnight."
Steve let go of Eddie and sat down on the bed "It wasn't your fault"
Eddie sat down next to him "Okay, and it most definitely wasnt your fault. Nothing she does is your fault."
"I suppose"
"Say it"
"Nothing they do is my fault"
"Good boy"
Steve blushed. "Uh t-thanks umm"
Eddie blushed too "Oh uh sorry, I didnt mean to say that. Shit"
"I know this is weird to ask for but can you give me another hug."
Eddie pulled Steve into a tight hug rubbing his back up and down. Steve held on to Eddie like a lifeline. Steve took a deep breath. Then loosened his grip on Eddie a bit, still holding onto him.
"Can we go somewhere else please," Steve asked in a timid voice
"Yeah. We should probably get changed into regular clothes first though."
Steve nodded, "Do you want to borrow some clothes from me?"
"Thanks for the offer but I can just wear my clothes from yesterday for now"
"Alright." Steve reached into his dresser and pulled out a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. "I'll go change in the bathroom" Steve let the room closing the door on the way out.
Eddie pulled his clothes out from underneath the bed and changed. He reached into his jacket pockets and pulled out his necklaces and rings. He put them on in a careful order. He made sure to not put any on his ring fingers. He knew it was weird to not put any rings on his ring fingers, but he hated the way it felt to have rings there. Eddie grabbed his watch out of his pants pocket. He put the watch over the small tattoo on his wrist. It was his very first and most hated tattoo. Three small numbers 010. He took a deep breath. He wasn't Number Ten anymore, he was Eddie Munson.
He walked out of the room and headed toward the stairs. "Steve, I'm heading downstairs meet me down here when you're ready." Eddie pulled on his combat boots and sat on the ground near the front door.
"In a minute"
"Okay, I'm by the front door" Eddie laid down, with his back on the hardwood floors. He stretched then interlaced his fingers behind his head. He just laid there, waiting for Steve to come downstairs. He did his best to keep his mind empty. He was going to give Steve a nice day out to make him feel better. This wasnt the time to be thinking about his own problems.
"Okay I'm ready. What are you doing on the ground?"
"Just getting some floor time"
"Okay. Do you need more floor time or can we go?"
Eddie jumps up "I'm ready, we can go." He walks out the front door and to his van.
Steve takes a second to lock the door then jogs to Eddie's van. He gets into the passenger seat and buckles his seatbelt while Eddie puts the key in the ignition but dosent turn it yet.
"Let's get this show on the road." Eddie says excitedly "So where do you want to go"
"Anywhere"
"'C'mon, you gotta giveme something to work with"
"Uhh, what about your place"
"We can, but you have to remember its a 30 minute drive and its a complete shithole"
"That's fine, lets go"
"Do you have a music prefrence. I have a big box of mixtapes in the back if you want to look."
"Okay, sure" Steve unbuckles and walks to the back of the van. After 2 minutes Steve walks to the front holding a tape labled 'Best of Queen'. Eddie takes the old tape out and sets it on the dash, then he puts the tape Steve picked out in. Steve and Eddie buckle their seatbelts and Eddie turns the key.
They sing along to the songs on the drive to Eddie's trailer, but they dont talk to each other. That's fine in Eddie's perspetive though. Them not talking didnt feel uncomftorable or awkward, it just felt nice.
Steve took this oppourtunity to look at the view. He was usually driving when he went this way and he didn't get a chance to fully take in the view. But he had an oppurtunity now and he wasnt going to miss it. He noticed that there was a multitude of dandelions on the edges of the pavement. He saw squirrels in their trees, squeaking at crows passing by (he also saw one partiularly loud squirrel get killed by a crow which Steve thought was really sad) He saw a bunch of deer eating berries off a bush. Everything about it was beautiful, seeing all the living things just existing.
Soon enogh Steve and Eddie reached Eddie's trailer. They waved hello to Max who was outside feeding her dog. She smiled and waved back happily.
Eddie held the door open for Steve who walked in and looke around taking everything in quickly.
"Do you want to watch a movie or something, Harrington"
"Yeah sure, what do you want to watch"
Eddie crouches down to look through a pile of VHS's "Would you be okay with 'The Breakfast Club'"
"Whats that"
"You've never seen The Breakfast Club" Steve shook his head "You work in a movie store how can you have never seen it"
"I don't know, I guess I just haven't seen it yet"
"Alright sit down, we are watching this"
"Okay, I dont see why you think its so important I watch this"
~~~~~ time skip to the end of the movie ~~~~~
"That was amazing I can't belive I'd never seen it before."
"I know right"
"Hey, can you drive me home. I have to be at work in like an hour"
"Yeah no problem"
On the drive back to Steve's house they talked about the movie. What they liked and didn't like.
When they got to the Harrington's house Steve jumped out of the car.
"Bye Eddie, see you later"
"Bye Steve."
Eddie watched and made sure Steve got in the house safely before driving back toward his trailer. Eddie felt deliriously happy and a grin was plastered on his face the whole ride home.
