If you're still doing duos, Meta Knight and Dedede. I'm just a bit curious

Anon haven’t you heard that curiosity killed the cat.
These two characters have literally defined my childhood, you'd think I would want to see them be besties that go on grand adventures together. But no matter how hard I try to come up with smth to do with them I got nothin'. I try referencing official material but what they got leaves me underwhelmed. I think the fandom can give the games more credit in the story department than they deserve. Stuff like a lot of the RtDL gang fanon is just taken as canon when all RtDL has is a handful of cutscenes that amount to “let’s help magolor” and “let’s kill magolor”. And if you like the 4 that's great, just don’t give the games credit for your own writing. Instead flaunt just how much better you can depict some characters than the Wii game did lol. With Kirby Fighters 2 the thing about them working together to fight Kirby is a good start, they can both super relate to that great. But is there anything else they can relate to? The game tells me that they have a strong bond but all I saw was two grown ass men try to beat a marshmallow and feel sad about losing together. At that point you got to look for evidence yourself, and that's fun I love thinking about how Zan and Taranza can play off each other really well because they are similar despite 0 evidence towards the two even being friends lmao. At most you can say they are both leader dudes that care for their men and that’s something! But that plus they both like to fight real good isn’t enough for me personally.
I try to come up with scenarios of the two as buddies but honestly I'm more interested in their relationships with other characters. And I feel like they’d just encourage each other's worst aspects, like I’m sorry if MK tried to pull a Revenge of Meta Knight 2 DDD wouldn’t be the voice of reason he’d stop MK only to tell him how he’s doing it wrong and give him the keys to his mech. Which is fucking hilarious I’ll give it that. They have the potential to for some comedic shit, the fact that the silly inoffensive penguin guy somehow has the galaxy’s greatest warrior working for him is inherently funny. I can see DDD being aware of this but still treating MK just like anyone else because DDD does not care for the pleasantries. MK would at times feel like he’s not getting the respect he deserves, but also sort of appreciates just how honest DDD is. That’s all I got for them to at least get along, but what stops me is that I don’t think they have a lot to emphasize with. While DDD is completely unconditional when it comes to anything, I think a lot of MK’s weird tendencies would just fly over his head. He’d really underestimate just how much MK can get stuck in his own thoughts and wouldn’t “get it” because DDD is so to-the-point. Both can be impulsive, but in different ways. DDD seems like a very in-the-moment guy, one minute he's fighting Kirby the next they are best friends. He can do some selfish things and acts like he doesn't care but when shit goes down he'll immediately drop the act and help. Spider guy kidnapped him but he saved them in the end so he's good now easily forgiven. MK can do reckless shit like. The entirety of Revenge of MK. Or SqSq. Planet Robobot even. But hiding your face 24/7 isn't something you do on the fly it's something you constantly dwell on. When you aren't talking to someone else you're stuck with your own thoughts, and a quiet guy like MK seems to overthink shit like what people would think about his face. DDD can move on from something easily, whereas MK would hold a grunge and DDD couldn't comprehend doing that. Also MK doesn’t talk about his mindset so much as he’ll do something to make a statement. If he’s thankful he’ll do you a favor, and if he hates you he’ll stab you. And DDD figures out what action means what but he can’t really pin point *why* MK is the way he is, which is partly MK’s fault for never explaining himself.
Ultimately I think it comes down to how you interpret the characters, and saying there is one correct take or one ”””””””canon”””””””” explanation is complete bullshit when they are 30 year old characters that have been depicted drastically depending on the different titles, medium, who they have been written by. If I had read the games differently or gone about writing the two in another way maybe I’d like to see them play off each other more, but it’s just not my thing. Don't think other people are wrong for thinking differently from me though, again I think there are many different ways to go about these two in particular.
