@nbrights YES YES!!!!!!!!!! the way i see it is like. isabel could manipulate her spectral energy to form something impressively detailed- like this wing for example:

^ this one. she could form that through thinking about it really hard and lots of practice. it’s training and muscle memory and creating from nothing, so theres no real step-by-step or end goal or prerequisites to the physical object. because there is no physical object. and there’s almost no theory- but that’s only because isabel herself resists the theory by nature of resisting her grandpa, who is the one teaching the theory.

shes been growing up in the dojo her whole life, and started forming energy constructs around age 6. that sure is interesting! i bet that process was a lot more intuitive than learning it in your 20s! so now im wondering if- because shes been doing it for so long- spectral fist is kind of second nature to isabel. not as in shes naturally good at it- but the whole ‘doing something so often for so long that it becomes routine and you lose the thought behind it’. We see how hard she trains, and where she started, so it’s not like she’s never had to try. Shes had to try- but she’s never had to try in this way. Isabel can form the construct, but getting it to hit the target is where the challenge comes in.

So back to my point: Isabel could manipulate her spectral energy to form a construct with impressive concept and detail, but if you whacked a glob of clay down and asked her to sculpt that wing, she’d be lost. She’d struggle even if she had a picture- maybe even more. Isabels bad with limitations and precision and accuracy and processes and singular solutions!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although Leopold had accepted her back in his life easily, Bella would not have begrudged him anger at the idea that their separation had essentially been for nothing, and only caused both of them pain.

Not that she should have worried. Bella steps to him easily when he takes her hand - reaching out with her other to brush some of the tears from his face. "Ah, darling, I didn't mean to upset you," She murmurs, fingers cool on his cheeks. "I just wanted you to know I always thought of you. I'll never stop being sorry for keeping us apart for all those years, not for as long as I live." She brings their joined hands to her lips, pressing a gentle kiss to his knuckles.

"Of course, darling. I would not refuse you anything." Not anymore. Not that she needed gifts to stay by his side - he'd be hard-pressed to be rid of her now.

paranatural would be so good if the characters had intended symbolism and core beliefs and things behind them that drove a specific meaning. rather than being tools for shonen anime pseudomocking

#like all joming aside the comic is funny but thats it. its funny. its made to be funny. it has some wacky lines gets some good reactions #its funny. but i dont think its a good story anymore. #like let’s really think about this for a moment. what is paranatural about. #4 years ago i wouldnt said ‘kids fighting ghosts in their wacky hometown’ but theh havent done that in ages. theres no trace of that story #and there hasnt been since chapter 5 ended #digging further- thats just plot. what is it ABOUT? the power of friendship? the perseverance to protect the ones you love? #i used to love max for his down-to-earth straight man grounded perspective. max wasnt funny. max was reasonable and the contrast of that #reason against the nonsense of the town is what MADE him funny. #like the other day when i posted the comparison between ch4’s hallway specshot scene and the one from fridays page #max isnt being funny in the hallway. ‘why am i here’ is put against Haha Woww So Deel Max Lol to which he can reply no i mean study hall. #his reaction is rational. the sarcasm adds humor but its rather the world around him which is so newly strange that his normalcy is funny #and then versus the new page. max makes a Why Am I Here joke again. but this time the question is not asked by max the character who wants #to know why his father has dragged him to a kids entertainment zone. but rather is asked as the setup for an #Unexpected Quirky Classic Max One-Liner ‘no i meant on this earth why do i exist’ #it just feels so much flatter. max isnt aloof and uncaring and sarcastic because he doesnt care about anything or anyone and is untouchable. #max is standoffish but genuinely nice and caring for the people he meets. his first instinct after landing on johnnys face #is to ask if hes alright. when PJ feels distraught at not being important in his own death maxes first instinct is to find a way to make him #feel better. to challenge that perspective and doubt the viewpoint his own poor self esteem gives him #when isabel comes out of her spirit trance and is too shocked to move max immediately rushes to her side to protect her against a spirit hes #terrified of. and then the next day brings what happened up to her and says hes sorry she went through that and hes got her back #he BREAKS HIS ARM TO PROTECT JOHNNY AGAINST HIJACK #hes a good protagonist because even though he has trouble connecting to others and being super friendly hes still NICE!!!! he still CARES!!! #i might take these tags and just make them a new post this turned into loving max hours #paranatural

That is not something I’m working on. Actually, I’m considering changing it to Grayson x Lyra now that we know her name.

As much as I love Grayson x Avery, it’s clear that they’re not going to be together in the books, and I’m hopeful for Graysons love life in the future. I’m pretty sure we’re all on the right track with Lyra being it, but who knows… maybe we’re all just clowning

There were multiple reasons as to why Isabel was upset at the sight she'd stumbled upon. Part of it was seeing Lance so wrapped up in another woman. She had never seen him like that before with anyone, which was saying something, as they had known each other for so long. The even larger part was that she was blaming herself for having waited too long to just take the leap. Maybe this wouldn't be happening now if she'd just given it a shot when they first understood that they'd had feelings for one another. Isa wouldn't dream of blaming him. He had every right to go out and see other people. They'd never made any promises to one another.

That didn't stop it from hurting. It certainly didn't stop the terrible ache she felt in her chest, or the nausea she was fighting as she tried rushing away. The sound of Lance calling after her triggered the tears to fall, and she considered continuing her escape, but she found herself halting. She refused to turn around to face him, but she at least stopped trying to run away. At that moment, she couldn't possibly think of what he might say to her, and she wondered briefly if she might regret it. Her feelings for him, the respect she had for him, and her years of trust in him and their friendship, are what had her stopping and waiting on him.

It’s been days since she’s seen him but she’s kept him updated on her location through rather short choppy texts so he doesn’t send a search party out for her again. However, she always comes back. Always. After all, she’s not her mother. 

She’s not even been home ten minutes before she catches sight of him and something she’s been chewing on for days suddenly rises to the surface.
