SOON SHE SHALL MAKE HIM A FLOWER CROWN. regardless if he wants to wear one or not. he would look so pretty with one adorning the top of his head !

her smile is beaming when she outstretches her hand, woven together pink gerbera daisies abandoned on her lap, the tip of her finger presses against the tip of his nose. it takes all of her strength not to make a noise along with the action.

SHE HAD RELUCTANTLY AGREED to the invitation to go on a blind date. but not after multiple attempts to decline. songbird had never been good at letting people down, and her sister had given her such a pleading look that she simply could not deny her anything. it felt wrong to go out and attempt to mingle with someone she could not imagine being interested in. it was useless to go through the motions of opening up to a stranger when she already knew her heart would not be invited to sit at the table. IT WAS LOCKED AWAY ALREADY. hidden from view for most eyes. only those belonging to a special wizard could perceive it now. she did not wish to talk about dreams and hopes for a future. had no interest in speaking about favourite flowers and preferable drinks. not when there was someone walking the earth who already knew all those things.
fingers move across the fabric of her coat. she fiddles with the edge of her sleeves in at attempt to calm her nerves. the question is not if the stranger will like her ; the question is if she will be strong enough to let them down gently. her dreams have already been given to someone, and yet, the weight of possibly disappointing someone sits heavy inside her chest. a stone she does not know how to hold without fumbling forward from the weight of it. SHE SEES HIM, AND SUDDENLY, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. ❝ draco ! ❞ she waves, rushes forward to him, eager to wrap her arms around his frame. the promise of a stranger forgotten when he appears in her vision. there is nothing else more important to her now. her face is quickly hidden in the crook of his neck, a stolen moment she permits herself to have. eagerness makes her blind. she begs he does not mind the strawberry notes of her perfume.

THE KNOWLEDGE THAT SHE IS HERE. the first sway of his arm comes as a surprise, a gift to her and her alone. she relishes in it. she is prepared for the second swing, answers it with one of her own. dreamer's feet are planted firmly on the ground. even when he makes her feel as if she could float ! ❝ come with me. ❞ she asks, pulling him forward ever so slightly. there is still hope in her step, as is there a flower woven through the braids of her hair.
she does not know where she wants to lead him. does not know which wonders of the world she wants him to see with her at his side. all she knows is that the world is a far more beautiful thing now that he is here with her. she can only hope she colours his vision in the same manner. grip shifts, thumb trailing across the side of his hand. SHOOTING STAR IS ALLOWED TO REST AT HER SIDE . a sharp intake of breath is all that disturbs the silence when she notices. the even rise and fall of his chest, the soft exhale which passes his lips as he breathes. songbird cannot help but stare at him ⎯⎯⎯ asleep, relaxed, in the arms of dreams. CAREFULLY, SHE MOVES, shifting her own weight to get comfortable in her position on the couch. she does not wish to wake him, does not wish to pry away this moment of rest from between his hands. with her, he will always be allowed to do whatever he wishes. even falling asleep and using her as a pillow.
he who had given her so much is allowed to put down his strength, to be no more than the man underneath the task. she tries to resist the call of the sea, yet finds her hand reaching out all the same. fingertip crosses the land of his cheek, slides up to his temple. pushes a lock of hair away from his eyes. TENDER TOUCH DOES NOT HARM. shoulder upon which he rests shifts again, allows him to slip down ever so slightly, to get more comfortable with his cheek against her collarbone. her own hand seeks out the blanket she keeps at her side on the couch. pastel pink fabric will fit him just fine. hastily, it is tossed across his legs, a weak attempt at keeping him warm. ( she knows nothing about starting fires to keep others warm, and yet, for him, she holds a match in her hand at all times. )
she cannot help but think of her brother, a young boy who had lost a father, three younger sisters at his side, and a sister barely old enough to kick her legs while in the cradle. how often had he sat here, with a relative falling asleep pressed against his side ? how often had he felt the pins and needles of his limbs falling asleep without ever complaining once ? she accepts it gladly in his stead. IT IS THE LEAST SHE CAN DO. nomad fingers once more reach out, stroke his hair down to the nape of his neck. rest there for a moment too long. all it takes is a soft brush of her lips against his forehead for her to wrap her heart around the comfort. peace is a fickle thing, all she can do is be glad that draco finds it at her side. ❝ sweet dreams. ❞ her voice is but a whisper, a guiding light through the darkness of slumber. come back to me. come back to me.

GIRL MAKES HERSELF COMFORTABLE in the backseat of the car. takes great care in ensuring her beloved plant is safely secured ; mumbles to herself as she pulls the seatbelt across the hand-painted pot. uber driver keeps the engine rumbling. roaring like a slumbering beast underneath her. she nearly giggles at it. fingertips fumble with her own seatbelt now that her plant is secured. APPARENTLY TOO LATE as the driver speeds off, causing her to roll around and claw at the fabric of the headrest before her. it’s been years since she’s had this much fun !
laughter follows as she tumbles around in the back of the car. finally hearing the tell-tale click of the buckle being secured. ❝ i don’t think i have cash on me. maybe i could venmo you your tip ? ❞ she leans closer to the other, resting her chin against his chair. ❝ or maybe i can pay you in plants ! i have a gorgeous bromeliad who’s looking for a new home. ❞

LAUGHTER FOLLOWS THE SONGBIRD as she dances outside in the rain. worn shoes have long since gotten holes in them, water seeping through until her mismatched socks are soaked by heaven’s tears. she does not particularly care, and neither should the world ! in her arms, the pot containing a pancake plant, becomes a dance partner. RHYTHM OF THE WORLD AROUND HER TURNS INTO MUSIC. leafs of the plant sway to the motions ; spurring her on to keep on moving through the morning crowd.
a body connects to hers, shoulder brushing shoulder, and grip on the hand-painted pot falters. just enough for the plant to slip from between her fingertips. spilled soil and sad looking leafs. ❝ oh no ! fredric ! ❞

surprise is not a look she wears often. songbird sticks to that which she knows, rhythm of a song / the smell of flowers in early morning. rarely does she stray from her routine without it being an accident ( a quick sidestep from time to time is a pleasure which she’s allowed, but it’s never truly intentionally. ) kicking her legs while she sits next to the other she holds innocence between her hands. truly, this is a question she hadn’t really expected. ❝ are you saying that they are ? ❞

heart is pulled from rib cage. put on display for all spectators watching from below. eyes fixated on the sight high up above, she who hangs upside down as if gravity was a mere concept rather than a rule in nature. fear nestles in her throat at the sight of love like this / demanding all to see bleeding ability even without thinking about it. sunlight cradling masked face as gently as it should does not cause eyes to spark; and by doing so leaves the entire world at a lost.
