So.  I did actually make a little map of the placement and designs of pirate-Túrin’s right arm tattoos because I wanted to be consistent.  Each one represents a different name and was designed with the meaning in mind.  I expect y’all will probably be able to figure them out, but just in case, I’ve got them written out and explained under the cut.

Also bear in mind that this was the first time I’d ever designed tattoos, so that’s why they look the way they do.
Skull: Neithan - The ribbon running behind represents his life until that point, with the seashell and merfolk tail on the right side representing his time in Dor-lómin and Doriath respectively.  He’d have had this one done by the Gaurwaith.
Symbol of Fingolfin: Túrin - Duh.  Beleg gives him this one in the hopes that he’ll remember who he used to be.
Snake and fish: Gorthol - The two captains: Beleg (the fish) and Túrin (the snake).  This one would have been done by the Gaurwaith as well.  (A bit of foreshadowing because the snake is a coral snake, which looks very similar to several harmless snake species but is actually extremely deadly.)
Dead albatross: Agarwaen son of Umarth - Killing an albatross, even accidentally, has historically been a sign of very bad luck among sailors.  Obviously the albatross represents Beleg.  Túrin makes this one himself while at Ivrin.
Cutlass: Mormegil - I.....hope this one would be obvious?  Anglachel/Gurthang is a cutlass in this AU.  He gets this one done in Nargothrond.
Merman: Adanedhel - Another Nargothrond one that I hope can go without explaining.
Crying mermaid: Thurin - Probably done at Nargothrond as well.  The gag across the mermaid’s mouth represents Túrin keeping his real identity a secret from Finduilas.  The tear under her eye foreshadows her death.
Knotted rope: Wildman of the Woods Sea - Done in Brethil, the infinity shape calls back to him having been tied to his fate so far.
Sea serpent: Turambar - The last of the tattoos, also done in Brethil.  The serpent is swallowing its own tail to symbolize mastery of one’s own fate but also foreshadows Túrin’s own death.  The skull head also foreshadows Túrin defeating Glaurung.
