this depends on my mood ig :/ I have to add that I am parts of other fandoms like fnaf, ddlc, batm, omori, and cuphead, so I’m happy to draw anything including those fandoms. You can ofc send me anything you want for me to draw but if I don’t feel like drawing it, then I won’t :/

Yesyesyes!!!! I love drawing ships and am glad to draw any utmv/ut/dr ships (unless it’s a problematic ship (also sorry but no, I’m not drawing dreammare)). My favorite ships are kross, horrordust, errink, kustard, afterdeath, destruction duo, crepic, and killermare (I’m always happy to draw any of those ships)

-Can you (the asker), ask questions to certain characters?

Yes :) But I don’t really think I can’t do this with deltarune characters since I wouldn’t really know how they would answer (I’m more of a utmv kinda person :/ )- You’re free to ask anything to the bad sanses, error sans, star sanses, Idol!Dust, and my sans OC, creative sans (I’ll post more about my OC later on)

“Finale” – It all comes down to this as four celebrity and pro-dancer couples return to the ballroom to compete and win the Mirrorball trophy on the 11th and final week of the 2019 season of “Dancing with the Stars,” live, MONDAY, NOV. 25 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EST), on ABC. (TV-PG, L) Episodes can also be viewed the next day on ABC.com, the ABC app and Hulu.

For this last week of the competition, the opening number will consist of the remaining couples dancing to “Last Dance” by Donna Summer. There will be two rounds of dancing where each couple will do one repeat performance from earlier this season. And in the last element of competition, the couples will perform the most anticipated dance of the season—the fan-favorite freestyle routine.

Mega-superstar Cher will perform her classic “The Beat Goes On,” while Pitbull and Ne-Yo performs “3 to Tango” and “Me Quedaré Contigo.” In addition, the ballroom and viewing audiences will have a first look at the new season of “The Bachelor,” and the winner of the “American Idol” fan vote will be revealed live. Eliminated celebrities from this season will return to the ballroom for a final number.

In addition, the professional dancers that will be participating in “Dancing with the Stars – Live Tour 2020” will dance to “How Do I Know” performed by Ray Chew Live. At the end of the night, there will be an announcement revealing which celebrities will be joining the professional dancers on the nationwide tour.

Vying for America’s vote, each couple will dance to a variety of songs including Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire,” Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl,” Luke Bryan’s “Country Girl,” Kriss Kross’ “Jump” and Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine’s “Conga,” among others.

This week, the live vote (via abc.com, the ABC app and SMS/text) will be combined with the judges’ scores and tabulated in real time, determining the “Dancing” champion. The live votes will occur each week only during the live broadcast in the EST/CST time zones (but fans in all U.S. time zones may vote within that window).

19 Fashion Trends From the ‘90s That Are Cool Again | Sourcing Journal (2019)

From controversial Calvin Klein ad campaigns and Versace dresses fastened together with safety pins, to a little show called Sex and the City that shone a spotlight on a designer called Manolo Blahnik, the ’90s may go down in history as one of the final great fashion decades.

However, parts of it are living on in 2019.With nostalgia running high for the ’90s, fashion is rolling out and reinventing some of the decade’s boldest trends for a new audience.

Baggy jeans

The so-called “death of the skinny” jean is taking on fable status, but we expect to see more consumers retrain their sartorial eye in 2019 and begin embracing wider fits. Slouchy, loose jeans satisfy consumers’ demand for comfort, while balancing the growing trend for chunky sneakers and platform shoes. However, these jeans are not Kris Kross. The contemporary version of the baggy jean is modified with slightly slimmer cuts, sustainable vintage washes and a softer touch.

Lingerie as daywear

Silky camisole tops, spaghetti strap slips and baby doll dresses were de rigueur of teen girl idols of the ’90s. The “Lolita” look was worn by everyone from Drew Barrymore and Courtney Love, to most of the Spice Girls. However, the lingerie-inspired trend is updated for 2019 through a more mature lens. The silhouettes remain the same, but designers are ditching cutesy frills and ditzy prints in favor of sophisticated transparent layering and silk for daytime.

Flare jeans Flare jeans, which were basically reincarnated bell bottoms from the ’70s, were a staple with young Hollywood in the ’90s. And it’s the same group that is bringing the trend back to life in 2019, but with fewer bells and whistles. Look for clean washes, minimal distressing and a higher rise to give the jeans a modern look.

Versace style The decadent world of Versace is a playground for fearless fashionistas in 2019. In recent seasons, the Italian fashion house has revisited archival pieces from its iconic ’90s collections, inspiring ladies and gents to embrace their inner Donatella or Gianni. It’s a simple formula to follow: vivid colors, opulent prints, gold and sex appeal. Expect to find this trend in women’s dress, men’s shirting and swimwear, where the flavor of South Beach is always in style.

The Ledge #490: Songs About Actors

The idea for this show actually came about earlier this summer when I noticed that over the last few months I had acquired a number of songs about various movie stars. Over the next few days, with the help of a bunch of Facebook friends, I put together more than enough tracks that fit this theme. Tonight's supersized show is the results of hours and hours of research, and consists of songs about not only classic Hollywood royalty such as Myrna Loy, Joan Crawford, Robert Mitchum, and Clark Gable but relatively recent stars like Keira Knightley, Winona Ryder, Timothy Chalamet, and Emma Stone. It's a show that jumps from acoustic-based singer/songwriters to classic rockers to some outrageous punk rock.

BTW, it should also be noted that the intro voice of the Ledge, Max, is now a high school student who has an opportunity to spend a few days in New York City with his school's performing arts department. My2016

Parto con la premessa che sarà difficile farlo, però ci proverò. Sarà un elaborazione continua non ho dei pensieri già programmati. Pronti? Partiamo.

Sono onorato di presentarvi: le migliori canzoni che ho ascoltato nel 2016. Una piccola nota dove confeziona 20 brani che ho ascoltato nel 2016 e che mi hanno colpito tanto da farmi dire: "wow!". C'è da dire anche che potrei mettere anche canzoni che sono di qualche anno fa. Il fatto che sono in classifica è perché le ho ascoltate soltanto nel 2016 (buongiorno). Escludo i lavori di j.cole e childish Gambino, dato che uno l'ho ascoltato maggiormente nell'anno nuovo (visto che è uscito a inizio dicembre e io lo ho ascoltato la prima volta il 29... Si, mi è arrivata il 29 la copia fisica) mentre l'altro non lo ho ancora ascoltato. Che peccato.

Quest'anno è stato un bell'anno di musica e molto altro. Nell'ambito del rap americano stavo aspettando titoli che sono arrivati e mi hanno soddisfatto. The Divine femminine, un bellissimo album di Mac Miller. Delizioso. Logic con Bobby Tarantino, sempre più incastri assurdi e basi supreme. Poi j.cole che il suo nome è garanzia. E infine bino che ancora nn ho ascoltato. Poi tra i vari rapper mi ha fatto davvero piacere ascoltare blonde di Frank Ocean. Un album che ho apprezzato tanto ma non riesco a capirlo e riuscirlo a concludere. Credo che le ultime tracce non le ho sentite. Tipo futura e White Ferrari. Comunque ottimo lavoro per questo grande artista. Poi passiamo alla sponda rap italiani, dove ho visto un album di salmo: ottimo; poi la volta di Marra e Guè che non mi ha colpito molto, apparte qualche canzone, stereotelling di kiave, afa di egreen, realtà aumentata di mistaman e poi enigma. Fresco di auto-allontanamento dalla machete (ottima scelta, non per i membri ma perché enigma ha bisogno di essere solitario, è un artista indipendente) fa uscire indaco. Bellissimo. Poi HP, duo di Hyst e un suo compare con minuetto in sobrio finale. Delizioso. 2004, piccolo ep di un rapper italiano non molto conosciuto, Frah Quintale, peccato perché è davvero bravo. Post-hardcore invece il nuovo album dei a day to remember. Cd che inizialmente non mi colpii affatto. Anzi lo definii troppo pesante. Ma dopo vari ascolti me ne sono innamorato. Ma a dir la verità ho sentito molte canzoni/singoli. Seguendo canali YT ho sentito molte canzoni che non fanno parte di alcun album o CD. Comunque bel anno prolifico per la musica. Iniziamo col dire che un po di canzoni le ho sentite fino a che mi hanno incominciato a sanguinare le orecchie, quindi loop infinito per poche influisce sul numero di canzoni che ho ascoltato lo scorso anno. Ora bando alle ciance iniziamo con la top twenty.

20) Ormai - HP Come detto nel prologo HP (il connubio tra hysteron e proteron, hyst e un suo collega) è eccezionale, fuori dagli scemi. Tutto il loro lavoro merita tantissimo, avrei messo anche le altre 4 senza pensarci due volte.

19) Podzemie - Kontrafakt Rap slovacco che in questa canzone dimostra quanto sia importante una base con i controcoglioni. Conosciuti per caso con la canzone jbnmt, ma questa spezza gli equilibri del genere rap con una base superba.

18) Smile - The Story so Far "I know it's been a while But I will not fake this stupid smile ‘Cause you robbed me, fed me the line Your bounty was me, took all you could see And worked just side by side The trust and love we’d abide Until you left home thrust with the tide And put this hate back inside my eyes"

17) 44 Bars - Logic Avrei messo the incredibile true story, ma ahimè lo ascoltai nel 2015. Logic un artista incredibile, con delle chicche che non ti aspetti, ti tira fuori un CD/mixtape/EP/lp/nonloso che fa da intermedio tra TITS e Everybody. Niente di meglio che un Bobby Tarantino. 44 Bars è la canzone piu significativa del album, dato che a differenza delle altre è molto più rilassante. Una chillata come si direbbe in ammeriga.

16)Memories - We Came As Romans Gruppo ascoltato, per tanti giorni e tante notti. Motivo? Dovevo andare ad un loro live, ma imprevisti nella vita non te la fanno godere a pieno. Scoperti casualmente e con l'aiuto di un amico. Hope la prima che ascoltai. Memories rappresenta ciò che vorrei in un estate piena di emozioni. Video ricordo con Memories in sottofondo.

15) I'm Ok, You're Ok - Bonjr Niente da aggiungere. Solo da gustare in una giornata di pioggia autunnale. Niente di più. Soltanto musica.

14) Oh No - Bring Me The Horizon Che dire. Band che stranamente ho apprezzato tanto, dato il passato buio dei Tokio hotel. Il loro messaggio è chiaro. Musica che trasmette emozioni. Incredibili. Anche se il povero Oliver non ce la fa più.

13) Please Be Naked - The 1975 Spogliati e metti in play questa. Io guardo e ascoltiamo insieme.

CES RAPPEURS QUI ONT SAMPLÉ MICHAEL JACKSON

Ou quand le King of Pop est aussi le roi du hip hop...

De ses nombreuses collaborations avec différents emcees (Heavy D, Notorious BIG, Kriss Kross, Wyclef...), à ses pas de danse légendaires (dont le moonwalk, très inspiré par les b-boys new-yorkais), Michael Jackson a toujours gardé un œil attentif sur la culture urbaine.

Une relation loin d’être à sens unique, puisqu’avec James Brown il est très certainement l’artiste le plus samplé par les rappeurs. Outre l’admiration dont MJ fait l’objet par ces derniers, il faut dire que sa musique, mélange unique de pop / rock / funk / rnb, se prête idéalement à l’exercice.

Huit ans après son décès, voici 8 morceaux qui échantillonnent son œuvre, et qui, contrairement à ses duos post mortem de triste mémoire (Akon et Will.i.am merci de le laisser reposer en paix) permettent à la légende de continuer à vivre dans nos cœurs.

Quand Jay Z sample I Want You Back sur Izzo (H.O.V.A.)

Lead single de son archi classique Blueprint, Shawn Carter épelle son surnom au refrain à coup de -izzle (un argot inventé par E-40 et popularisé par Snoop Dogg) sur une prod du jeune Kanye West qui fait là son entrée dans le grand bain du mainstream en imposant sa patte sonore – celle qu’il dupliquera notamment sur son premier album solo, The College Dropout.

Quelques mois plus tard lors de l’édition 2001 du festival Hot 97’s Summer Jam, Jay Z prouve au monde que lorsqu’il rappe « I do this for my culture » il ne blague pas. Sur scène, il convie en effet à la stupeur générale MJ lui-même pour ce qui reste encore aujourd’hui l’un des moments les plus mémorables de l’histoire du mouvement.

La rumeur veut d’ailleurs qu’à cette occasion Michael ait fait cadeau à Jay des droits d’utilisation de I Want You Back. On a envie d’y croire.

En aout 2015 le Jéhovah du game lui rendra un ultime hommage en ouvrant très brièvement un compte Instagram pour poster une photo de leur rencontre à l’occasion de ce qui aurait été son 57ème anniversaire.

Quand Puff Daddy sample It’s Great to be Here sur It’s All About the Benjamins (Remix)

Jay Z n’a cependant pas été le premier rappeur new-yorkais à sampler I Want You Back des Jackson 5 puisque, ô surprise, son idole de toujours Notorious B.I.G. en avait fait de même dès 1994 avec One More Chance extrait de l’album Ready to Die.

En 1998 rebelote, quand Puff Daddy & The Family (alias Lil Kim, les LOX, un Biggie version posthume et une Missy Elliott non créditée) piochent à nouveau dans le catalogue de la famille Jackson pour composer l’hymne du label Bab Boy première mouture.

Alors que la structure de IAATB repose essentiellement sur le sample de I Did It For Love des Love Unlimited, quand B.I.G. débarque, le beat change subitement pour faire place à It's Great to Be Here.

Là où sur un thème similaire (l’importance de l’argent), le Wu-Tang rappait quelques années plus tôt les difficultés financières sur C.R.E.A.M., It's All About the Benjamins (Benjamins désignant ici les billets de 100$, ceux où sont collés la tête du président Benjamin Franklin) marque un net changement de paradigme en déclamant les joies de la consommation à outrance.

Notez enfin que Diddy a enregistré la chanson Maybe We Can Do It avec le King en 2001 pour son album Invincible. Le titre n’a cependant pas été retenu dans la tracklist finale.

Quand LL Cool J sample The Lady In My Life sur Hey Lover

Autre artiste dont la collaboration avec le Roi est restée dans les cartons (Serious Effect enregistré à l’occasion de Dangerous, le morceau finira par fuiter au début des années 2000), Cool James est dans les années 90 au sommet de sa forme – ce qui n’est pas peu dire lorsqu’on évoque celui sans qui l’histoire du rap n’aurait pas été la même (sans LL pas de Def Jam, et encore moins de drakeries).

Désireux de se payer un nouveau hit de loveur (I Need Love, Around The Way Girl...), il s’associe aux Boys II Men (groupe culte qui vendaient à l'époque des CD par dizaines de millions) et laisse le soin aux Trackmasters d’emprunter à l’une des ballades les plus célèbres de Michael.

Résultat : un Grammy, un disque de platine et un single qui reste aujourd’hui encore l’un des plus iconiques de sa décennie.

Quand Nas sample Human Nature sur It Ain't Hard to Tell

Le meilleur album de rap de tous les temps (Illmatic) pouvait-il se permettre de faire l’impasse sur le meilleur album de tous les temps ? Large Professor a certainement pensé que non en incorporant à sa manière une boucle de la piste 7 de Thriller au milieu d'une pelletée d’autres titres – prenez votre souffle : N.T. des Kool & the Gang, Long Red de Mountain, Why Can't People be Colors Too des Whatanauts, Slow Dance de Stanley Clarke, What Do You Want From Me Woman des Blue Jays et Sorcerer of Isis de Power of Zeus.

Au fil du temps, Human Nature a fini par devenir l’un des titres les plus samplés de la discographie de Michael Jackson, Aaliyah (Journey To The Past), Chris Brown (She Ain’t You) ou encore SWV (avec le tout en cravache Right Here) se prêtant plus ou moins subtilement à l’exercice

[Mention spéciale à la reprise (à la trompette forcément) de Miles Davis.]

De son côté, Nas sera victime de la qualité de sa plume, les lyrics de It Ain't Hard to Tell seront ensuite repris à profusion par toutes les têtes d’affiche du rap US (Pete Rock, Big L, Jay, Mobb Deep, Kool G Rap, RZA... mais aussi MC Solaar). Ce doit être ça qu’on appelle un classique.

Quand Naughty By Nature sample ABC pour O.P.P.

En 1991 qui n’était pas « down with O.P.P. » ?

« O.P.P. » signifiant « Others People’s Pussy/Penis », demander à quelqu’un s’il est « down with O.P.P. » revient à lui demander s’il est prêt à avoir une relation sexuelle avec une personne déjà en couple.

Treach et sa bande de canailles popularisaient là une expression depuis passée à la postérité (entendue notamment dans Le Prince de Bel-Air, Alerte à Malibu, The Office, Monk...) grâce à l’un des premiers hits à rassembler les publics vraiment rap et vraiment mainstream – le bounce du très Motown ABC n’étant pas étranger à ce succès.

Quand 2Pac sample Liberian Girl pour Letter 2 My Unborn

Non seulement le neuvième single de Bad (!) a été repris par le Roi Heenok sur Cocaïno Rap Musique: Volume 1 (un petit doute subsiste quant à savoir si les droits ont été payés), mais aussi par 2Pac quand sort en 2001 son troisième album posthume, Until the End of Time.

Produit par Johnny J et les Trackmasters (encore eux), cette lettre ouverte au fils qu’il n’a jamais eu a été enregistrée du temps où le rappeur était encore en vie.

Les deux légendes se croiseront à nouveau par la voie des studios en 2014 à l’occasion de la sortie de Xscape, le troisième album posthume de MJ. Une version inédite du titre éponyme contient en effet un couplet du californien.

Quand Kanye West sample P.Y.T. sur Good Life

Quoi de mieux pour faire de la « stadium music » que d’aller piocher l’un des titres les plus dansants du répertoire de MJ ?

Rajoutez à ceci les backgrounds vocaux de Ne-Yo & John Legend, DJ Toomp en co-producteur, les batteries de Timbaland, un feat de T-Pain, 16 différents mix, une apparition subliminal de MJ dans le clip et boom, le tour est joué.

Reste qu’ici la palme de l’anecdote revient ici, non pas à Ye’, mais à Pain qui en 2007 a été invité par Michael himself dans sa demeure suite au succès de son tube Bartender.

« Il m’a dit que c’était le seul disque physique qu’il avait acheté ces quatre dernières années. Je n’ai pas pleuré parce que je suis un gangster, mais cela a été un grand moment de fierté. »

Puis, après avoir mangé un plat de tortillas sans sauce (!), les deux hommes conviennent de collaborer ensemble. Pizzle reviendra ainsi vers lui avec Change, un titre qui emprunte à Eric Clapton. Michael décline toutefois au motif qu’il « ne fait pas de sample ou de remix ».

Qu’importe, Monsieur Autotune recyclera l’année d’après Change sur son album Thr33 Ringz.

Quand Kendrick Lamar reprend Smooth Criminal sur King Kunta

Si en terres californiennes la palme de l’artiste le plus samplé revient sans conteste à George Clinton, MJ n’est pas autant complètement absent des radars, comme lorsque les N.W.A. se réapproprient Thriller sur 100 Miles and Runnin’ (1990), ou plus récemment quand King Kendrick reprend, non pas un élément musical, mais le gimmick « Annie, are you okay? Annie, are you okay? » rendu célèbre par le titre Smooth Criminal.

Et à ceux qui se demandent toujours plus de 30 ans après les faits qui peut bien être cette mystérieuse Annie dont le prénom est répété plus d’une cinquantaine de fois, surprise : il ne s’agit ni d’une célébrité, ni d’une obscure groupie, mais du surnom donné au mannequin utilisé aux États-Unis pour l’entraînement à la réanimation cardio-pulmonaire.

Un mythe tombe.

Iwashimizu would probably listen to alternative music and ambient music like soundtracks.

L.A. Unites to “Mute” Kodak Black Music Following Nipsey Hussle/Lauren London Comments

As Hip Hop still mourns the recent devastating loss of recording artist/community leader Nipsey Hussle. Superstar Kodak Black ignites an uproar with the city of Los Angeles following unflattering comments towards the late-Hometown Hero’s long-time girlfriend. Due to the immature comments, L.A.’s music scene band together to “mute” Kodak Black.

During a recent Instagram Live session, the Florida hitmaker was seen strategizing a chance to become Nipsey Hussle’s girlfriend’s next boyfriend after grieving. During the conversation, Kodak mentioned waiting a year and being the shoulder she can cry on. Friends of the artist were heard telling the “Zeke” artist of speaking too soon on the matter. Upon the video going viral, Hip Hop quickly responded to Kodak Black’s antics. Those reprimanding Kodak Black included music legends T.I., Tank, and The Game.

Following the backlash, Kodak Black took to Instagram once again to express to fans that his words were taken out of context and apologize to Lauren London for his distasteful commentary. Apologizing to the actress and deceased; however, Kodak refused to apologize to the “O.G.s” he proclaimed tried to “son” him by demanding respect. Kodak would respond to the older artists with explicit remarks, labeling them “clout chasers” for their actions. See the complete apology below.

Unforgiving of his lackluster apology and tired of his childish humor. Together, Los Angeles radio pledged allegiance to Nipsey Hussle’s legacy by refusing to support Kodak Black’s music. Los Angeles’s Power 106 was the first to issue an official statement removing Kodak’s music with both rival stations and the city’s biggest radio personalities swiftly aligning with the call-to-action.

Kodak Black shares collaborations on popular radio hits, “Wake Up in the Sky”, featuring Bruno Mars and Gucci Mane, “ZEZE”, featuring Travis Scott and Offset, and “Pills and Automobiles”, featuring Chris Brown, Yo Gotti, and A Boogie with da Hoodie.

Issued statements to “mute” Kodak Black came from huge names in radio, including Big Boy, The L.A. Leakers, Bootleg Kev and DJ Hed.

Before his death, Nipsey Hussle was an avid supporter of Kodak Black. The two were signed to the same record label in Atlantic Records. Nipsey promoted Kodak’s latest music back in 2018 while promoting his own new release, Victory Lap.

Hip Hop adored the relationship of Lauren London and Nipsey Hussle. Idolizing their love for one another, rejoicing the two’s recent heartfelt editorial with GQ. Coining the two’s unity as “relationship goals”. Nipsey Hussle and Lauren share a two-year-old son together in Kross Asghedom.

In other Nipsey Hussle news, the slain artist’s alleged killer is in custody and has been scheduled to begin trial in the coming weeks. If found guilty, the suspect will serve a life sentence. Nipsey Hussle dead at the age of 33-years-old in South Los Angeles.

Kodak Black is slated to begin a nationwide tour this week in support of his new album, Dying to Live.

Humor for the Heartbroken

Love is a snowmobile racing across the tundra and then suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath. At night, the ice weasels come. ~ Matt Groening

Social psychologist Daniel Gilbert of Harvard University said, “In many ways, navigating the social world is more complicated than a voyage to the moon. But it’s a journey we have to take, because whether we like it or not, our happiness is in each other’s hands.” Our sadness is also in each other’s hands, and is most easily induced by those we most love.

Rejection from a loved one can feel like the end of the world and can elicit profound feelings of worthlessness, loneliness and grief. Divorce can be a more painful experience than the actual death of a spouse because of the heart-searing suffering caused by rejection. It leaves one wondering why, exactly, they are no longer “good enough” for their former partner’s love and questioning whether they are even deserving of love at all.

University of Michigan psychology professor Ethan Kross and a team of researchers found that the regions of the brain that are activated when experiencing heartbreak are the same regions activated when experiencing physical pain. Like physical pain, this emotional pain cannot be ignored or escaped unless some form of anesthetic is applied. The natural anesthetic qualities of humor and its easy availability make it a good place to begin buffering oneself from the negative effects of rejection.

Laughter researchers Dr. Lee Berk and Dr. Stanley Tan of Loma Linda University in California have discovered that laughter not only lifts our spirits, but also improves our physical health by reducing stress, lowering our blood pressure, increasing our oxygen intake, boosting our immune system and reducing our risk of heart disease and strokes. It also causes the release of endorphins, our body’s natural painkiller, and serotonin. Many antidepressants target the neurotransmitter serotonin, but one can “self-medicate” using one’s own serotonin supply by watching a funny movie or going to a comedy show. For the rejected lover, this self-induced boost of serotonin activates a neurochemical reaction that enhances their ability to tolerate the stress response and think creatively of coping options. In this way, humor can be a highly effective means of taking control of the situation and overcoming the overwhelming emotions associated with rejection.

Rejection is a universal experience that we all, unfortunately, come to know at some point(s) in our lives. Movie stars, models, super athletes and other idols of perfection have been rejected, divorced and left behind by those they had loved dearly. As Raquel Welch famously stated, “I couldn’t stand that my husband was being unfaithful. I am Raquel Welch — understand?” With divorce rates currently pushing above 50% does that mean that over 50% of the population is unworthy and unlovable? It does not. It simply reflects the fact that navigating romantic relationships can often be painfully difficult. Rejection isn’t so much personal as it is just a consequence of being human.

Heartbreak, unsatisfied desires and unrequited love can be natural motivators to evolutionary and personal greatness. As harsh as the inevitable pain of heartbreak may seem, it really is for our own good. It forces us to reflect on where we are in our lives, and motivates us to become better, stronger, more lovable people. This pain and longing is Nature’s way of inducing positive change and growth.

Nature also gave us the ability to use humor to mitigate some of the more damaging and debilitating aspects of heartbreak. Uninterrupted, unrelenting suffering weakens and destroys rather than motivates. For anyone currently enduring the depths of broken-hearted misery, the following books and movies can serve as a salve for those deep emotional wounds.
