HI! I just wanted to pop in and say that I absolutely adore your writing. I go back and reread your fics constantly, and every time you post something new I drop what I'm doing to read it. You're my favorite fanfic author and every time I see you post in the tags about a fic you're working on or that you want to work on, I get so happy and excited to see what you'll do next! Anyway I'll go now, hope you never stop writing!

A lot of the time writing is a fuckin drag. It’s time-consuming, and requires a lot of brain power, and especially in These Uncertain Times it feels like there’s not enough brain power to even make dinner, much less do difficult creative work. Then, of course, you spend three or five or twenty hours to write something, and you get a nice little dose of kudos (which are perfectly nice!), and maybe three to ten comments (if you’re lucky), and a few hundred hits, and you think, hm. Twenty hours to write it and a few hundred people took twenty minutes to read it, and it wasn’t even all that fun to do, so... hm. What was it for? And then sometimes you open your tumblr inbox.

This is just the best kind of message to get, ever, always. <3  Oh, bud. Now I feel like I need to drop everything else and write something, and also feel like I actually want to because I know someone will get excited about reading it.

attn: everybody -- if you have a writer you like, try to be as kind and encouraging to them as this great person here. You might get some fic out of it. Worth a shot, at least.
