i have so many refs for the upcoming scene, it's insane. the interior sketch is going to be the actual page though, but i normally don't sketch out the whole background in pencil like this. also eight discarded performance outfits for ennie (difficult to design something for a character with the trait 'dresses over the top in casual situations'. you can see me going a bit insane on the second page) and two background characters who i wanted to sketch first before putting in the actual page.

#comic stuff #instruments: jack has the cheapest possible drum set i could find bc he only learned to drum like a month ago #thomas has a spanish guitar and josh plays both bass and keys (obviously an 88 keys one. no son of mine will have a filthy 66 keys) #and it has to be propped on the bar stools <3 that's how i played my first bar performance too #i have no notes on the outfits that aren't covered by my previous notes on them #except that josh brought one (1) fun shirt for performances and it's this one #oh yeah i sourced thomas' outfit directly from the singer of king gizzard when i saw him this summer. i was impressed by its boringness #actually i have notes on all outfits who am i kidding. ennie's is based on something ariana grande wore #they don't have the same vibe at all but she has this baby thing going on that i think ennie would connect with #and it's his first performance #so he hasn't settled into his own aesthetic yet #the background character in the black dress is an oc of a friend. i'll introduce her properly when i post the actual page #the guy in the cap is based on lawrence from popstar never stop never stopping lmao bc i watched that the day before designing him #and it was pretty much the energy i wanted this bar to have #i searched 'crappy bar' for the interior or the big panel. learned they have a lot of stuff on the wall. love that
