it’s like, sure, animorphs is about not being able to recognize yourself in the mirror [because you are now a bird/bat/cat/mole/flea] but more than that it’s about not being able to recognize yourself in the mirror [because you are now robbed by trauma of your old hobbies, your old worries, your old ability to sleep at night]. it’s about shedding skin [snakes] but also about shedding skin [your prewar self lying discarded at the foot of your bed]. you know.
