coptic orthodox contraceptive (today i learned that some married coptic couple abstain from sex during lent. i hope they mean the 55 days of great lent and NOT the 240 days of all total coptic fasting periods became damn!!! i don't even think the church said to do that 😭 why 😭)

#i'm trying to come up with more #i also learned that there's 2 difficulties for coptic lent #1- eat any time you want but only vegan (like everyone else's lent basically) #2- all food and water are off limits from midnight til sundown. after that you can eat but only vegan #and you're supposed to pick the difficulty that 'suits' you more according to what you can tolerate #i wonder if other churches do that? and i wonder if ours does that because of our proximity to ramadan? #or if this predates the arab conquest altogether? more to research on! #anyway my dad does all 240 days but on 'easy' mode (eat any time but only vegan) #i think people who do the 'hard' difficulty only do the 55 days because i can't imagine doing that for 240 days #asks
