I’ve seen several takes on Lady Sneasler following Ingo to the future where they have to deal with conservation researchers (or something similar) wanting to take her and her children because their species is extinct in the modern era. Sometimes it’s just a fear that they’re able to nip in the bud before it bacomes a problem. Sometimes it’s someone so blinded by the “greater good” of their actions that they either don’t realize the distress this would cause Ingo and Lady Sneasler, or they just don’t care. Attempts to use the legal system to confiscate her and her kids are common in those fics. The last kind I’ve seen is the one that may or may not actually be a criminal. The kind who see the fame and fortune they could get by being the one to revitalize an extinct species and are willing to resort to all sort of underhanded and possibly criminal actions on top of the legal stuff to get her.

Anyway, I was thinking that the twins have to deal with that on some level for Ingo after getting back in the Possession AU (bonus points if Lady Sneasler also goes back with them). Sure, Hisuian Zoroark may still exist (dunno if their numbers would count them as endangered or near extinct), but as far as the public is concerned Ingo is the only one of his kind known to exist.

That's a very interesting thought, anon!

Like- yes, there's the folklore about Hisuian Zoroark that's common in the colder areas of Sinnoh, so when news that one of Unova's Subway Bosses was apparently possessed by one spreads to the region, those who are familiar with it just nod their heads like yep, we know what's going on here. But just the same there are probably those who see that same folklore and wonder if perhaps this Zoroark was simply inspired by it. They know there's a small handful of Hisuian Zoroark that have survived, living deep within Mount Coronet and the surrounding area, far away from humans- but they've never really been able to confirm their number since they avoid humans. In fact, no one has seen for well over two decades!

But here's one! Or... there was one, but then they disappear. Those interested assume that's the end of it. But then, against all expectations, the Zoroark returns... still possessing his human body. And this presents a conundrum for these researchers- this is a nearly extinct Pokemon, one of the last of his kind- and what's more, he is also an exceedingly rare Alpha Pokemon... should he really just be allowed to return to his previous life with no safety measures in place? But also, doesn't Ingo deserve the right to return to his regular life, as in a sense he is equally human as he is Zoroark?

It's probably the subject of a hot debate! There's researchers with a lot of different viewpoints- some who just say that he should be left alone, maybe asked a few polite questions about his kin- which he's willing to answer! What a wonderful source of knowledge, and he gives it freely! But there are others who think he should probably have a more protected status, or be returned to Sinnoh... even though he's lived his entire life in and was likely born in Unova.

Also complicating the issue is that he comes back with a small number of Hisuian Zorua... and Hisuian Sneasel? For some reason? And then they find out about his three Alphas...
