Can we get more of the villager reader x yandere human villagers? I was wondering if you could do a yandere human Lucky x villager reader?
Yandere Human Lucky X Villager Reader
Not so lucky
Silence. Silence. Silence. That was all your ever heard most of the time, how everyone in you predicament heard most of the time. But make no mistake, that wasn’t a bad thing. When there’s silence, no ones there to hurt you, no ones there to take you away. So a silent day was better than a day with noice down here. Today however, was not one of those days. The faint sound of footsteps and a conversation was getting closer and closer to you and your friends position, which only made everyone more and more tense. The silence was interrupted by one big creaking metal door opening and the owner, Maxie turning on the lights. Everyone covered their eyes instinctively as they winced at the sudden change of setting. The lights flickered for a few seconds before returning to normal. “So who will it be? Do you have any specific villager that you want or are you just browsing?” Maxie asked the current customer as they both walked around the “store”. The store being full of big metal cages where a bunch of villagers were trapped. One of those villagers, being you. Y/N the A/T. You were a bit away from the two men, lying in the corner of your cage, you’ve been here for such a long time now that you knew how to get around. Key point is to not interact or make eye contact at ALL. You pitied the people in here who were amongst some of the most popular villagers in the community. They were always the first ones to go. You however, you were just a simple A/T. You had some fans but nothing too big. As such, not a lot of people came to specifically look for you. and still, there were always the people who had their niche interests. After five years here, you were actually gonna be sold off. Tomorrow you would leave this retched place forever, and it terrified you. With the new internet service, people didn’t have to come to the store if they wanted a villager, but they would most likely be charged more. Right now you felt helpless, you were doing so well keeping out of interest but it seems like your efforts were doomed to fail.
“Well, right now I’m searching for Maya the Cat? You know the one?” The customer asked. Poor cat. Maya had been in here many times before. Every time someone bought her, Maxies goons would already have found a new copy of her somewhere. In fact she was currently in the cage next to you. Looking over at her, you could see that she tensed up as she heard this. You normally didn’t do this, I mean, your rule was to ignore everything and everyone during the payments. But something about how she looked, you had seen it a bunch of times, like you said, you’ve been here for such a long time. You’ve seen people come and go, but one thing was for sure. Every time they were chosen, they’d have the same horrid expression on their face. And you felt bad every time you saw it. Maya was currently curled up in a corner of her cage. It was the corner that was directly next to your cage. So, without a word. You simply crawled over to that side of the cage and tapped lightly on the metal bars, gaining her attention. Losing her was gonna hurt since you two had become so close. Rule number two you had was to not interact with any of your fellow prisoners. Attachment will only lead to pain when they’re eventually bought. But it wasn’t your fault that Maya had started to talk with you. She was your cage neighbour after all, and after a while you just couldn’t ignore her anymore. And while it was risky to interact with the person that was gonna be sold off, it didn’t exactly matter to you. You were already gonna be shipped off, it wasn’t like things could get any worse.
You grabbed her tiny paw and she quickly took ahold of it with both of her paws. She was squeezing them tightly as the sounds of footsteps approached you two. Now you broke your second part of your rule: don’t make eye contact. You looked over at the two and almost let out a yelp. The man standing next to Maxie...he was wearing layers above layers of bandages on his face. The only part of his face that you could see was his ears sticking out of the bandage and the top left part of his face which was not wrapped up. The only thing you could see was his eye. And my god what a captivating one. His eye was very round and was yellow. And he was currently staring you down with such wonder and intensity that it actually made you tense up and shrink down under his gaze.
“So yes, here we have her! She’s in popular demand so you better act quick mr...?” As Maxie said this you could feel Mayas grip getting tighter. “Lucky. Mr Lucky. How many tickets?” The man In front of you asked to which Maxie let out a laugh. “Nonono, we don’t take tickets.” “Oh? How many bells then?” “We take real money. She costs 200 dollars.” As Maxie said this you could see the mans eye narrowing. “And there’s no way I can get a lower price?” “A lower price?! What do I look like to you!? If you’re not gonna pay then get lost!” The customer, Lucky, walked closer to Maxie, rummaging around his pocket. “I see...what about them? Y/N? How much do they cost?” As he said this you felt your hand start to shake slightly. How did he know your name? Was he...was he a fan? Maxie wouldn’t sell you to this guy...would he? “Sorry pal, they’ve already been bought. Now quit trying to change the subject! Are you gonna pay or- HOUGH!!!” The air became as ice once Maxie stumbled backwards, a knife stuck in his chest and a huge blood stain pouring out of it. He looked at it in shock and could barley notice as Lucky walked up to him and pulled the knife out of his chest. Blood started to pour everywhere as Maxie let out screams of pain. You froze up, looking petrified as the brutal scene was unfurling before you. Eventually, Lucky took his knife and drew it through Maxies skull, striking the final blow, killing him In an instant. Everyone was quiet for a few seconds, staring at the corpse that used to be your seller. You couldn’t say he didn’t have it coming but still, it was weird and scary to see someone who had been moving less than 10 seconds ago now lying on the floor. Dead. And the fact that you were in the room with the killer didn’t make it any better. Speaking of which, Lucky started to prod around the body, checking his pockets until he could feel something. He pulled it out from Maxies pocket, it was a key. The key to all the cages. Oh no.
The first thing he did was go over to your cell and open up the door. You let go of Mayas hand and hastily crawled back to the end of the cage. Not like it did much because Lucky followed after and dragged you out if the cage. You began to thrash around and struggle but he held you tightly against his body with his strong arms. But that didn’t stop you though. In fact the more he held you, the harder your struggling got. It escalated so much that he had to push you up against the prison bars, holding you completely still by the shoulders. “If I released all your friends, wound you come with me then?” ...what? This utterly shocked you. Would he really? “...what’s the catch...” you looked at him, your voice seemed to catch him off guard for some reason, however he regained his stance quickly. “Like I said, you’ll have to come with me. Willingly. And rest assure. If I let them go and you run, I will kill them all...what’ll it be?” Hmm, you would basically throw your life away...you didn’t know what this person would do to you. If he could kill Maxie, he could kill you. But either way, you’d either end up dead or alive. You might as well be useful to the others in the process. “I’ll do it...just, please promise...” After you said this, Lucky walked over to Mayas cell and tossed the keys inside. “Unlock your door and then everyone else’s okay? But do it 5 minutes after we’ve left.” Lucky said, or well it was more of a demand. Maya quickly nodded her head in fear as she grasped the keys with her frail hands. Lucky looked down at you.
“Let’s go”
And so, he grabbed your hand in his big one and walked out. You never took your eyes off of him while he led you away. Now that you were out of the store you could truly see what he looked like. He had a couple of black curls sticking out from under his bandages. His skin was a darker shade and his clothing. His clothing was special. His entire torso and up was wrapped in bandages, he was wearing a brown puffy jacket and some matching pants. But he had no shirt, just the bandages protecting his body. He took notice of your curiosity and pulled you closer to him. “I think you and I are gonna become close...” as he said this he stopped in front of a boat. He helped you board it before going up himself.
“Very close...”
////////////////////
So last time I focused on the humans taking advantage of their positions to have control over the villager reader. This time I wanted to focus on the buying of villagers (not trading, no I mean those sites where you can totally buy Raymond and Ahnka for $20! It’s not a scam what are you talking about?).

Strange Love (Part I) | Maverick & Sooyun
When: Tuesday, January 19th
Where: Somewhere in Ocean Park.
Warnings: Drugs, Alcohol
Featuring: @sooyunjeong
sooyun felt exhausted keeping up the appearance of Eric's supposed girlfriend, which was probably why she found herself at a party that was being held just to get away from the annoying questions and looks of her stealing Eric away. In her defense, Lexa should have made a move on Eric instead of beating around the bush. But it was sort of her fault for sending that selfie to her through Eric's phone while he was passed out.  She shot back the shot and cringed at the taste, vodka wasn't her strong suit but it was the only drink that she could rely on that wouldn't give her a terrible hangover. After the performance, Sooyun left the band behind and ended up at this party where she knew no one, everyone clearly were far different from her social circle. The young girl leaned against the wall and felt the vibration against her body, maybe she shouldn't have taken those drugs. Opening her eyes and squinting as she recoginize the face and that smile anywhere.     "Maverick Maxwell!" Sooyun yelled out, pointing at him as she pushed herself away from the wall and grinned cheekily, "What are you doing here?"
Tumblr media
Maverick knew not to pass up any party invitation in Santa Monica, although this one, he almost considered passing up to shoot some hoops to get his mind off the stress that Lexa practically radiated the whole weekend. He needed to let loose, and so, he called up a few of his college buddies, pre-gamed and smoked a blunt--or three, and now here he was crossfaded as all hell and taking shots as if they were water. He mingled throughout the party, making casual conversation from everything to crazy ragers in the past to a recent performance that Maverick had zero clue about, but was bummed out that he missed. He always liked local bands performing. As he made his way to grab himself some snacks from the back, he heard a voice that made his whole body whip around. "Well, well, well, what do we have here!" Maverick smiled making his way over to none other than Soo-yun. "The host invited me and a few of the boys. What're you doing here?"
Tumblr media
"I got invited as well," she shrugged her shoulders, she don't even remember who it was that dragged her here but they left her behind as she wander off and made friends left and right. "At least now I know someone around here, I kept getting asked questions and I never know how to hold a decent conversation before running away." Sooyun tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear and grinned, "Did you go to the concert? If so, I didn't see you, I can't even see when I am on stage so there's that." Someone tapped her shoulder as they passed by to wave, in turn, she waved back unaware on who they were due to the fact half the time she doesn't even remember their names, might've been one of the parties she went too in the past. "There's talk of the after after party--who knew people can party for so long."
Tumblr media
"Damn, looks like you roll deep around here. Small ass world," He chuckled. With Santa Monica being as big as it is, there was no surprise that people's circles would often intermingle, if they played their cards right of course. "I mean shit, that's what I'm saying cause my boys all disappeared within the first hour and shit. And honestly, conversations can be weird. I like to keep 'em light, talk about different parties, ixnay on politics, spot another person, wave and respectfully dip," He explained with a wry grin. "Wait, there was a concert? Shit...no, I didn't go. Had I known, I definitely would've gone. It's been a while since I've seen local bands play with basketball and shit," He responded honestly. She effortlessly mingled well with people and Maverick had to admit he was pretty impressed, well--he wouldn't mention that now with the haze settling upon him. "That's what I was hearing too! Like damn, you guys really want to party til the break of dawn, huh? Pretty fuckin' wild," He laughed. "Are you going to the after after party?" He asked curiously.
Tumblr media
"Yeah there was, it wasn't planned but they needed a band to cover and I figured why the hell not, so hence here I am. Lost my band mates but it's fine, good thing a thing called Lyft is available incase I have to somehow hobble my ass home or sleep with someone." She said out loud, the downside of being intoxicated it appeared the things she normally kept shut was coming to surface, "But on another note, I might...I really don't want to go home and I really don't want to answer any more questions about Eric." Sooyun didn't mind questions about herself but when it came to the supposed relationship, she couldn't come up with anymore lies and the fact Eric wasn't helping by shutting out the world in his dream state, Sooyun was left to deal with the domino affect and dodge questions left and right. She quickly grabbed a plastic red cup and started mixing her own drink, something that would numb the stress. "Also you should go bug Eric sometime...he is practically sleeping his life away at this point."
Tumblr media
"Ahhhh, okay. Makes sense. Impromptu gigs are the shit. You show up, surprise the audience, do your thing and wow everyone. I mean, that's what's up, you know? As for the rest of your evening, well, there's a bunch of hotties to go around, so..." Mav chuckled as he looked around at the word "hotties". Last thing he needed was to take a drunken L, least he could do was pretend to be slightly uninterested compared to his sober self, although his sober self was currently taking notes now. "Well, you could either hide out at the next party and scope out to see where there'll be less people or wind up at Onyx?" He added with a shrug. He managed to block out the mention of Eric, probably because he eyed the bottle of tequila and as much as he hated the taste, here he was, reaching over for it, unscrewing the cap and taking a swig from it. Future him is going to hate himself tomorrow. At the mention of Eric again, he chuckled at the thought of him sleeping. "Homeboy sleeps like a bear. Plus, his phone's prolly on DND. I'd say Lexa could get to him, but she's been busy with CEO business and shit. When he wakes up though, we'll prolly go get some gimbap or something."
Tumblr media
She knew mention Eric was a low blow, she seen those posts on GG, she didn't think Maverick would actually be that interested in her after the many times she shot him down. She figured that he would move on with ease or maybe she just assumed all that due to her ex who in a way was similar to Maverick but standing here before him, realizing they were completely different sure they shared the confidence of flirting but now Sooyun was able to see that Maverick wasn't anything like her ex. "Yeah he does, which I was surprised but hey...everyone has their niche." Sooyun shrugged, her eyes widening at Maverick drinking the tequila, "Uh...you really think that's a good idea? Tequila doesn't sit well with most people. Not that I should be telling you how to act but I really don't want to drag you out of here, I may act strong but I have no muscles."
Tumblr media
While the mention of Eric and Sooyun sucked for the time being, he was able to bounce back fairly quickly, as if he were unscathed. The one thing that's swirled in his mind is that Sooyun's rejected his advances prior anyways, so at the end of the day, the sting lessened. However, he was definitely confused as hell now that Sooyun seemed happy to be conversing with him at the moment. It almost gave him some sort of hope. "I'm pretty sure he can sleep through a tsunami warning at this point. I envy his sleeping pattern, that's for sure," He admitted with a laugh. It would be the only envy he'd admit out loud given his state, too. "Oh this? It went down pretty smoothly, so y'know, that won't be too bad. I was gonna grab some food anyways so the effects of the tequila won't hit too hard," He reassured her with a laugh. "You game to grab some food too?" He offered cautiously.
Tumblr media
The mention of food made her realize she hasn't even eaten dinner nor lunch, all the nerves enabling her to eat a decent meal without puking. "Depends...are you going to hunt through said kitchen or are we going to grab an uber because I don't know about you...but now after seeing you take that tequila like a champ, I want to one you up on shots." Sooyun knew that this was a terrible choice especially now she realizes she's drinking on an empty stomach but the fact she was high and about to be even more intoxicated, it just didn't mesh well from the first time around she done this. "Let's see...how about...four shots, make it even. Four for you and four for me...make a toast or whatever." She waved her hand as she grabbed mini plastic shot glasses and grabbed the tequila from Maverick, pouring them the shots and set it between them. "Oh we can even spice it up...if you can't take a shot, you have to make a confession. So...eight shots." That math didn't make any sense but at this point, Sooyun didn't care.
Tumblr media
"Yeah, I was gonna check the kitchen first and if there wasn't shit, then we'd grab and Uber and go wherever we felt like eating at,"he shrugged. "You really want to challenge me to shots?" He asked, a devious smirk curling on his lips. Maverick knew very damn well that he was playing with fire at this point. Sure, he took a swig without wincing or making a face, but this was about to be torture...but the thing about Maverick Maxwell was that he never backed down from a challenge, especially from someone as gorgeous as Sooyun. "Bet, you're on," He said with a nod. His crossfaded mind tried to do the math in his head as best as he could. Eight shots between the both of them was bound to fuck them up. "Like truth or dare? Okay, I see the vision here," He said as he watched Sooyun pouring the tequila into each of the shot glasses. Taking one of the shots and handing Sooyun hers, he smirked. "Bottoms up," and threw the first shot back.
Tumblr media
Sooyun knew she was about to die, almost like her body knew what she was about to be put into the next day, she tried to pay much mind to it as she squeezed her eyes tightly together and threw the shot back. Cringing as the taste went down smoothly, with a burning trail as a reminder for what she was doing to herself. "Jesus...I swear tequila never gets any easier," she mumbled to herself and wiped the back of her hand against her mouth, looking up at Maverick and laughed, "Another? Or do you want to use one of your truth or dares already?" She teased him, flipping the shot glass upside down onto the table, the sound around them muffled as her attention was solely on Maverick. To think she managed to hide her attraction to him sober but now that sobriety was out the window, it was as if she was a whole different person.
Tumblr media
It was official that both he and Sooyun signed their death sentences tonight. Tomorrow was going to be incredibly brutal and he was already mentally blocking out his hangover stage because it was going to be a bitch. The taste of the tequila was smooth but the familiar back of the throat burn was what nearly threw him off, he had to silently smile at his poker face behind it. "No going back now. Despite the back of the throat burn," He teased with a laugh. He met Sooyun's gaze again and nodded. "You're not getting me that easy," he responded with an eyebrow wiggle as he set down his shot glass upside down. He liked that it was just them two playing their own little game, drowning out the rest of the world with just them and tequila. It was beginning to get harder to pretend that he wasn't as interested in her, but that would be a problem for later Maverick. He took his own shot again, throwing it back with a smirk and flipping his upside down. "Just like water," he bragged with a laugh.
Tumblr media
"Here I thought you would be weak," she laughed, making a mental note to drink water before she passes out later, but she doubt she would even remember that simple task. "Another then," she grinned as she reached for the second glass and held his out towards him, flashing him a flirtatious smirk, raising the glass and throwing it back, coughing at the burning taste. Sooyun realized the next round she might have to use one of her own truth or dare at this point, especially because she wasn't taking a break between each shots and the thing about tequila, it was worse than vodka, it will creep up and bite her in the ass. She just hoped no one would report what they see tonight towards GG, it was hard enough to not slip up when she was out in public with Eric, she also knew it was hard for him which was why he stayed home and kept his phone on DND to avoid confrontation.
Tumblr media
"You severely underestimate me, Soo," He winked, the flirtation slowly creeping back in on him as much as his sober self tried to reign it back in. At this point, all bets were off. Although, he was beginning to think that the impulsive Gatorade vibe would save his life tomorrow morning. At the second shot, the burn was slightly stronger than the last, a clear warning sign for him to slow the fuck down before things got ugly too soon. When he heard Sooyun's cough, he was relieved. At least now they could truth or dare it out because there was no way both of them in the current states that they were in, that they'd make it out in one piece. He pondered what he could confess about, it had to be something small, yet, somewhat meaningful, but still not enough to scratch the surface. Last thing he needed was to confess he practically shut off all emotion about Sooyun so he could move on quicker. "I guess we're gonna have to use that truth or dare card," He chuckled. "Tequila's getting more bitter by the shot, don't you think?
Tumblr media
"More like it's death in each shot I throw back," Sooyun grimaced as she reached for the mix drink she made for herself and took a drink to somehow wash out the taste. Mixing alcohol was probably not the best idea but at the moment it definitely helped. "Okay...I guess since I was the one to tap out, you can ask me the magical words of truth or dare." She caved in, letting Mav take the first round since she practically came up with this stupid game in the first place.
Tumblr media
"I'm so glad I wasn't the first to admit that," He teased with a laugh. "You're right though, I'll give you that," Maverick tried not to look at the tequila shots as he tried reaching towards the fruit bowl. Finally, sustenance. Grabbing two apples, he handed one to Sooyun and kept one for himself, taking a bite out of it. "I guess so, huh?" He smirked. "Alright Sooyun, truth or dare," He asked coyly.
Tumblr media
Sooyun realized her mistake on the fact she was probably going to have this game backfire in her face now that she could either pick truth and having to say something true from his question or dare where he could possibly have her embarass herself. She rolled her eyes, "Dare...not about to spill any secrets just yet," she giggled, waiting to hear his dare for her.
Tumblr media
Maverick took another bite of his apple waiting for Sooyun's response. A big smile graced his features as he knew very damn well she was going to play hard to get in this round. "How'd I know that's what you were going to pick?" He teased with a knowing look. "Okay, I dare you to, take off your bra and use it as a hat now, if you don't have a bra...I'm sorry to say, you might have to use your panties as a hat for the night," He challenged.
Tumblr media
gaping at him and his words, she assumed he would choose some silly dare not this sort of dare, laughing lightly, "Now what if I wasn't wearing any panties...then what." Sooyun challenged Maverick, of course she was wearing underwear, she wasn't that adventurous and even if she was, she wouldn't admit to anything unless the person she was sleeping with took her clothes off. "Good thing I wore a bra that is easy to slip off," she rolled her eyes as she placed the apple in her mouth to hold and reached behind to unclip it, doing the whole slipping the bra off and out of her sleeve to pull out a soft pink bra and place on her head. "Gotta make sure not to lose this, you know how much bras cost? Which is ridiculous for a tiny piece of cloth.
Tumblr media
He couldn't help but laugh at Sooyun's reaction to his dare. Mav knew he wasn't going to make it that easy for her, after all, it wouldn't be him if it was. "The backup plan was charm someone's shirt off to wear it as a head wrap, but that's pretty mild compared to the original," He explained with a grin. He watched the whole ordeal and the one thing he had to admit was girls really had their own tricks on getting bras off without getting their shirts off. He was going to make a note of what Sooyun did--for science. "Don't worry, with a color that pink, it'll be hard to miss," He teased. "Guess that means it's your turn."

what is and isn’t allowed {Roger Taylor}
Anon asked: So a fic where the reader is the bartender in that one pub/whatever it was the band first sang together in. Reader has been enjoying Smile’s performances for a while now, mostly because of the handsome drummer. Reader thinks they’ve gone unnoticed but one night, Roger shows up at the bar with his band mates. Drinks are served and Reader doesn’t notice Rogers roaming eyes. He’s actually been eyeing her for a few weeks now. Go crazy!
A/N: 2253 words. I hope this fills the prompt nicely!!
This job, like every job, came with it’s own set of perks and detractors. Perks included; being paid to hear live music, you and your coworkers got along, and once your shift ended, the boss let you have a few drinks on the house. Detractors? Well not a night went by when you weren’t hit on in the hopes of free drinks, sometimes you had to call the cops because of a fight or a shady customer, and you never seemed to have weekends off. Even after you left work on Saturday you probably couldn’t get on the piss since it was frowned upon to turn up the next day to serve the barflies hungover.
But you knew what you were getting into, and the perks far out weighed the detractors.
“Who’ve we got playing tonight?” You asked, bag slung over your shoulder as you walked into the bar on a Friday afternoon.
“Couldn’t you have read the sign on the way in?” Cameron, your favourite person to be rostered on with for a uni-bar night, sighed deeply. Giving him a sharp smile, you make your way behind the bar and drop your bag in the back room.
“Yeah, but I’m inside now and that feels like an effort,” you tell him, taking the tea towel he offers you.
“Smile.” He informs you, and your whole face lights up reflectively.
“Oh, awesome!” You enthuse, and quickly start drying glasses with him. Cameron’s smile is slight, but your enthusiasm melts through his annoyed front.
Of all the university-based bands to come through your little establishment, Don’t Forget To Smile was probably the least mediocre, and definitely your favourite. When they were first starting out they were a little shaky, of course, every band has to start somewhere, but over the months that followed, Brian, Roger, and Tim had found their musical footing, and were churning out some pretty solid songs. You always looked forward to hearing them play, wondering if they’d increased their repertoire, and of course you also looked forward to seeing the men themselves.
“Evening Rog,” you smiled fondly at the blonde drummer as he leaned against the bar as Brian and a couple of new members you don’t recognise are doing sound checks, “this isn’t your usual lineup.” You commented, already collecting glasses to pour drinks for the band.
“Tim’s up and buggered off to join Humpy Bong.” Roger sighed, watching the rest of his band with mild interest.
“Humpy Bong? What kind of name is that?” You can’t help but snort, and that’s enough to draw his attention to you where you’re pulling pints with efficiency.
“I know, right? And he says we’re not going anywhere? Yeah, alright, good luck with that, mate,” he rolled his eyes, sarcasm thick in his voice. He’s pretty when he’s irritated, slumped against the bartop, chin perched on his hand while the other taps a steady rhythm against the counter.
His eyes follow the movements of your hands as you pour the band’s drinks, but it doesn’t seem like he’s really looking at you. It’s not an uncommon occurrence, he never seemed to really pay too much attention to you for all that the two of you got along; you poured drinks, and listened to his gripes, and watched him pick up girls, and that was essentially the extent of your interactions. It didn’t bother you, you only saw him once a month, maybe twice, and it seemed absolutely nonsensical to be put out by it.
The point is, you tried really hard not to dwell on it. Just keep your head down and do your job, don’t make it weird for the band. They brought in a good crowd and you were not going to be the reason they didn’t come back.
The new singer, Freddie, was a little choppy to begin with, but he had an unrivalled stage presence; he was too charismatic to let the band fester in obscurity like they had been. And the new bassist? John? He was nothing if not good at his job; more subdued than the rest, he still found his niche bopping away by his amp. Brian was always stellar, always radiating a sophisticated confidence whenever he played, always smiled brightly when he wasn’t focused and intense on his playing; Brian was consistent, and you appreciated that about him.
You would probably appreciate Roger more if he was less consistent. Not to say that was a reflection on his playing, he’s a fantastic drummer, but he also was well aware of it, and was able to pick up like a pro. So yeah, you tried hard not to dwell on it, but it was difficult when it seemed like you were getting him ‘a pint and whatever the lady wants’ every time he played here, always with a different girl. But you just smiled, agreed, and tried not to let your little crush show.
You’re the bartender. A means to an end, to help him get laid. Sometimes that’s just the way the world works.
“How’s your night?” It comes as a surprise to see him at the bar when another band is playing. Freddie, Brian, and John are all milling about, you can see them at a table by the wall, but Roger’s giving you a smile that’s all teeth in the face of your shocked response.
“You know you’ll need to pay for your own drinks,” is the first thing that comes out of your mouth. Roger holds a hand to his chest, but his smile is still so warm.
“Is that how you greet all your customers?” He asks, but pulls a few notes from his back pocket and orders a round of drinks.
“Sorry, I just- I wasn’t expecting to see you- you guys,” you laughed a little, unthawing and getting their drinks, “guess I forget you exist even when you’re not performing.” That’s enough to get him to laugh, and you feel the tension in your shoulders ease.
“I didn’t realise you worked so often; do you you exist outside of this bar?”
“Not on weekends,” you counter with a smirk. You pause before handing him his drinks, glancing at the money he’d laid out of the counter, and you push it back towards him, “first one’s on me,” you tell him, “sorry for being a dick.”
He’s politely surprised, wearing a genuine smile as you hand over the drinks, and he thanks you kindly after stuffing the money back in his pocket.
“Okay, new rule,” Cameron tells you the moment Roger’s out of earshot, “actually, two rules: Smile doesn’t get free drinks unless they’re playing, and you’re not allowed to serve Roger until you stop looking at him like a lovesick puppy.” He flicks you with his tea towel, and you flick him back, calling him an impolite term that earns you a startled look from the patron you’ve moved to serve, but you also don’t disagree.
“I should tell him,” you sigh as you shake the woman’s margarita, pouting a little at the thought as you did so.
“You should tell him. You get all twitchy whenever he’s trying to pick up at your end; at least if he knows he might do it down my end instead.” Cameron’s mostly focused on making a gin and tonic, but he grins at your groan of despair. “Your crush is bad for business,” he continues, “no-one wants a twitchy bartender.”
“You’re heartless, you know that?” You inform Cameron, who just turns to you after his customer has paid, and blows a kiss.
Roger comes up a few more times for drinks, sometimes with one or all of the others, sometimes just by himself, but Cameron sticks to his rules and is always the one to serve him. To your surprise, Roger is there the longest, and remains solitary for most of the night. Sure, he talks to girls, but he seems to brush them off, and every so often you catch him watching you.
“Hey, is everything alright? Are you avoiding me?” He manages to catch you when you’re clearing away glasses and stop by his table. The band is packing up, the crowd is slowly dispersing; Cameron’s got a handle on the few patrons still at the bar.
“What?” You laugh a little nervously, he smiles but seems unconvinced.
“It’s just every time I come to the bar, even if you’re the only one free, you some are magically replaced by,” he hesitates for a moment, “the other one.”
“Cameron,” you supply easily, and Roger nods. “Oh, well he saw me give you free drinks earlier and, uh, didn’t want it happening again.” You shrugged, and it’s not a lie, persay, it’s just not the whole truth.
“Sorry, I mean I can-” and he’s fishing around in his pockets for his wallet but you waved him off. After a moment of silence, Roger swirls the last of his beer around in his glass and downs it in a single gulp, placing the cup into your waiting hand.
“You never did tell me how your night was,” he sits at the bar as you wash up the glasses. Cameron gives you a sharp look, but Roger catches it and says he’s not ordering anything, to placate the other bartender. It works enough that Cameron doesn’t come over immediately.
“My night’s good; always love a good bit of live music, you know?” You smile over your shoulder at him and Roger laughs.
“Yeah, when we can, me and the boys like to check out the competition.”
“I’m not sure you guys could consider tonight’s lot competition.”
“Is that a compliment?” He asks, tipping his head to the side and fixing you with an amused smile.
“Of course,” you respond without hesitation, “it’s always a treat to have Smile play.” You tell him earnestly, and again there’s that genuine smile of his. It caught you off guard, and you couldn’t help but return a fond smile of your own. You hear someone clearing their throat a few feet away, and when you turn, Cameron’s giving you a very pointed look. “Oh shove off,” you rolls your eyes, mood souring.
“Well we like playing here,” Roger’s words cut through the awkward moment like a hot knife through butter, and you’re so grateful, “good little pub, good staff, what’s not to like?” He sounds sincere when he says it, and your heart grows warm, proud of your establishment, “and actually, I never really noticed it before, but I like your uniforms, you both look very slick.” Roger adds, and Cameron gives you a look like his soul has left his body out of frustration.
“Y/N, go take a break, go outside, I’m begging you.” Cameron told you, and you pressed your lips together in a thin line, frowning.
“Dude, I’m washing up-”
“Now now, I don’t want you to get overworked and twitchy.” He hissed at you, and your whole expression wrinkled reflexively. Roger just looked on in confusion. You leave anyways, and surprisingly, Roger follows you.
Outside is warm, it’s Summer and the sky is clear; stars twinkle overhead as you sit in the carpark outside on a stool by the back of the bar.
“Everything alright?” He asks, kicking at the gravel idly.
“Cameron’s under the impression that-” but you cut yourself off, sighing deeply. Roger pulled a packet of cigarettes from his back pocket, lighting one up.
“Can I ask you something?” He looked a little contemplative, and walked to join you, offering his cigarette, though you declined; he leaned against the wall where you were standing, looking up at the sky, “you can tell me to fuck off at any time, believe me, many people do, but Brian told me it’s a bit of a shit thing to hit on a bartender while she’s working.” He mused, and your heart was suddenly thundering in your chest. “And I mean, when we’re both working? It does feel weird, I’m not gonna lie, so I don’t, you know, do it.”
“Well I’m not working now, I’m on my break,” you smiled a little, and he turns to look at you, eyebrows raised, “what did you wanna ask me?”
“I wanted to ask you to come home with me.”
A pause follows in which you can’t help but beam, though you still have one more thought plaguing your mind.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Seems hypocritical to say no,” he chuckled, and you couldn’t help but laugh at that, before it died down.
“Why tonight?”
“Finally had a night off, wanted to see if you were just as nice when you weren’t paying us.” Roger grinned, and you rolled your eyes, turning to look at him. “And you look really good tonight.” He admitted.
After a moment, he meets your gaze; you’re basically shoulder to shoulder and he’s so damn close. It doesn’t come as a surprise when he reaches over to take your face in his hands, kissing you gently. Without hesitation you kiss him back, leaning into it, deepening the kiss quickly, taking what you’ve been craving for so long.
And maybe he just wants a one night stand, maybe it’s more than that, but you’d be remiss to not take this chance. He’s already got a hand moving down to your thigh, and you break away, a little breathless.
“I finish at one; do you wanna ask me that question?”
“Would you like to come home with me tonight?”
“Absolutely.”
