I don't believe in the devil so you probably can't sell your soul to him but I do believe that if you get famous enough that people start treating you like a two-dimensional character instead of a real human being you run the risk of getting trapped on the other side of the fourth wall and once that happens the narrative can Get You. which is basically the same as selling your soul for fame but who knows

#translation: #fame creates an incongruent combination of mass public recognition and alienating isolation that drives people to psychological limits #frequently resulting in a desperate attachment to one's own life story as a coping mechanism #which inevitably places one's sense of identity in the audience of that story rather than in the actual self #leading to extreme behavior patterns that are easily perceived as fiction-like and thus reinforces the cycle of fictionalization. #sometimes it is just a real curse tho.
