You might have noticed that although I have shared hundreds of free school printables on the blog, I only have a few organizers for homeschooling. Since I will be homeschooling my pre-Kindergarten son this new school year, it came to me that I also need to come up with more printables to use for ourselves and to share with my fellow homeschooling parents and teachers out there.
So this week, I tried my hands again in designing more organizers, and this time it’s a pretty homeschool curriculum planner that I came up with. My teaching experience for eight years helped me create the printables that I think will also be useful for us.
As Alton Brown famously said, “organization will set you free,” and that is the case when it comes to homeschooling. You need to get organized to keep things at bliss.
It is not a bad idea to try a few before closing on to one.There are many cross platform IDEs that are supported on Windows, Linux and Mac and are available for free download. There are many IDEs available in the market, both free and paid, and selecting one can be a difficult task.It is absolutely possible to get started with PHP programming in a basic text editor, like notepad, but better is to start off with a feature rich and complete PHP IDE like NetBeans. PHPStorm, VIM, Zend Studio, Cloud9 or Atom, specifically if it is about professional web development and not just hobby.A good IDE comes packed with tons of features and facilitates rapid development and effective PHP programming. Mac editor for php. This question is for you and the decision depends on what you need, like, and can afford. Integrated development environment is developer’s playground and better is to spend time upfront to select an IDE that best fits requirements.Which one should you go for?

A learning center is a space set aside in the classroom that allows easy access to a variety of learning materials in an interesting and productive manner. Learning centers are usually designed to offer a variety of materials, designs, and media through which students can work by themselves or with others to operationalize the information learned in the classroom. Centers are designed to enhance the learning of concepts, skills, themes, or topics. This learning can take place after a topic is presented to students, during the course of presenting important concepts, or as an initial introduction to material in the text.
Learning centers can have any number of designs, each limited only by your creativity and imagination. Feel free to work with your students in creating a center they will want to use. Such shared responsibility assures that students have a sense of ownership in the center and will be more willing to engage in the resultant activities.
Most teachers will agree that there are three different types of learning centers: enrichment centers, skill centers, and interest and exploratory centers.
Enrichment Centers
Enrichment centers are designed to offer students a variety of learning alternatives as an adjunct to a common unit of instruction. These centers are typically used after the presentation of important materials or concepts and are designed to provide students with opportunities to enrich and enhance their appreciation and understanding of the topics through individual experiences in the center.
Enrichment centers require you to be aware of your students' learning styles as well as their knowledge about a topic. The enrichment center can provide individual students with varied activities or combination of activities that differ from those pursued by other students. As such, the center becomes an individualized approach to the promotion of the topic.
Skill Center
Skill centers are typically used at the elementary level, more so than at the secondary level. Students may work on math facts, phonics elements, or other tasks requiring memorization and/or repetition. Skill centers are similar to enrichment centers in that they are used after the initial teaching of a concept or skill. Their difference lies in the fact that students are assigned particular areas in the center as opposed to having free choice of the topics they want to pursue. Thus, after introductory instruction on a particular concept has taken place, you can assign students to various parts of the center to help reinforce the information presented. You must be aware of the various skill needs of your students to effectively assign individuals to the areas in the center through which they can strengthen and enhance these skills.
Example of Skill Center is the Brainlinks Learning Center in which they train their pupils in their skills in Theatre Arts, Creative Writing, Piano Lessons, Public Speaking, Basic Cooking & Baking, & Dancing.
Interest and Exploratory Centers
Interest and exploratory centers differ from enrichment and skill development centers in that they are designed to capitalize on the interests of students. They may not necessarily match the content of the textbook or the curriculum; instead they provide students with hands-on experiences they can pursue at their own pace and level of curiosity. These types of centers can be set up throughout the classroom, with students engaging in their own selection of activities during free time, upon arrival in the morning, as a “free-choice” activity during the day, or just prior to dismissal. These centers allow students to engage in meaningful discoveries that match their individual interests.
The success of this form of learning center depends on your knowledge of your students' interests. You might want to use student interests that will help pinpoint the specific areas you can use in the design of relevant centers. A paper-and-pencil inventory can provide you with important information about their interests.
Learner's Ville Learning Center & Little Kingdom Learning Center are the examples of Interest and Exploratory Centers. They have this "Playgroup" in which the children would be able to learn through hands-on & playing with other children.
Most learning centers that we’ve interviewed, they implemented their hands-on activities to the children by PLAYING since play is the foundation for all learning for young children and giving children the time and a few basic toys can provide them with a variety of valuable learning opportunities.
“Play is how children begin to understand and process their world,” says Angie Rupan, Program Coordinator for Child Development Center in South San Francisco, CA and early childhood educator for over 20 years.
“Children's play unlocks their creativity and imagination, and develops reading, thinking, and problem solving skills as well as further develops motor skills. It provides the base foundation for learning.”
Play is our brain's favorite way of learning.

Art also has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else, said Sydney Gurewitz Clemens.

Storytelling is beneficial to preschoolers as it increases the children's vocabulary, enhances their listening skills and it also helps in developing the children's emotion through their colorful and unique imagination.

According to Children's Museum of Illinois, touch is one of the most important senses for developing children because it helps them start to grasp the three-dimensional world we live in, allowing them to physically interact with objects and comprehend how things work.

Understanding how children learn can make their education a better experience. Learning and school is not a one-size-fits-all set-up. One child may spend hours reading a book, while another uses any excuse to go outside. One child begs to turn the speakers on, while another can’t stop pulling objects apart to discover how they work together.
All these activities are children's educational need and learning centers make sure that various approaches and styles are recognized and supported. These different types of learning centers for the children are included in “FindMyTutor” app and the parents have the freedom to choose the best learning center for their children.
In learning centers that we've interviewed, learning becomes fun and enriching as they integrate hands-on activities in their lessons.
Knowing these, the parents should choose wisely the suitable learning center that would really develop & enhance their children’s character, knowledge, and skills. 
Interview at Kumon Learning Center, Tomas Saco, Nazareth, CDO...
Team XYZ then interviewed learning centers here in the city and identifies that the learning centers we should advertise are the ones who have Kindergarten, Preschool, Grades 1-6 (elementary), and have playgroup, or other special trainings such as public speaking, phonics, music and arts. Brainlinks Learning Center, Little Kingdom Learning Center, Learner’s Ville Learning Center are some of our learning centers while Kumon Learning Center will not be included in our key partners since they are not allowed to advertise in facebook or in an app due to their rules & regulations. Kumon is a franchise learning center. Once their head releases advertisement (e.g. PDF), it should only be posted in their website & not anywhere else. They even don’t have facebook page. Their learning center is only exclusive for the parents who were registered in their learning center. There are several examination & admission before a student could enroll to their learning center and their means of advertisement is to enroll & try their learning center then by that, a child could endorse it to others by his/her feedback during his/her training in Kumon (for short, word of mouth).

We then proceed to app testing, we went to Brainlinks Learning Center & Little Kingdom Learning Center so they could finally use the app & give feedback to us.
At Brainlinks Learning Center, the Principal finally tested the app. She signed up, we activate their learning center then their learning center is finally advertised in the app. We've seen the smile in the face of the principal of Brainlink's. She was satisfied in the app & said "okay sya :) " since it is not complicated to use—hence, user friendly; that even a mom like her could easily use it. She said, it is very beneficial for their learning center.

Little Kingdom Learning Center was our next app tester. The personnel of Little Kingdom also registered their learning center in the app, we then activated their learning center then it was finally advertised in the app. She was astonished since she can easily see the people who were interested to enroll in their learning center and she said that this would be a wide scope of advertisement for them since it is on the mobile app & it is accessible anytime, anywhere.

The Brainlinks learning center Principal said that Php50.00 is somehow cheap so they suggested Php350 subscription fee every month. 
In Little Kingdom Learning Center, the personnel there said also that "Only Php50.00?" they suggested an amount of Php300. So, we decided that it would cost them Php300.00 monthly for their subscription fee.

The principal of Brainlink’s said she’s willing to invest because the price (Php300) is so reasonable. Also, she said that there should be notification for the learning centers whenever there are inquiries in the app so they could notice it right away. 
The personnel from Little Kingdom’s said that yes, their learning center is willing to invest. Her comment is that the app is very efficient to use.
We talked to the personnel of the Learner’s Ville regarding our app last week & we informed her that we’ll launch the app by this week but she said to us that it’s the best if the owner herself will be the one who will test the app & decide if is she willing to invest so we waited for the availability of the owner and the personnel updated to us that the owner is willing to sit with us & we’ll just wait for further notice to personally meet the owner of Learner’s Ville, let her test the app, & wait for her decision for investing & her suggestions/comments.

TRACTION CHANNELS
There are 19 traction channels and we picked only three from it. Our top 3 traction channel is SOCIAL AND DISPLAY ADS in which our app will be advertised on Youtube to reach millions of potential customers. We searched for the price to pay and it costs 15 dollar cents per view. There are 1 Million viewers for a week so we will be spending $150,000 per week. This is too costly so we decline this channel.

Our top 2 channel is the OFFLINE ADS in which we’ve printed flyers to distribute it to our customers. We printed five (5) flyers and there are three (3) potential customers who responded and used our app. In every flyer, it would cost Php2.00 so the total cost for five (5) flyers is Php10.00. Since we gained three (3) customers in a cost of Php10.00, it would cost us more or less Php3.00 in every customer.

Our top 1 channel is the EXISTING PLATFORMS in which we posted our video advertisement in facebook and fortunately, our advertisement reached 802 views, 12 shares, and 29 comments in just less than a week.

Out of these 29 comments, there are eight (8) customers who are interested! We will pick three (3) of them & we will let them test our app. Hence, we gained eight (8) customers in less than a week at no cost!

Both learning centers are willing to invest! At first, we were shy to approach them but thank God! We got the guts to explain it to them & fortunately, they used the app & they were so amazed in our project in which it also helps them in solving their problem that they lack exposure to the public --  our app would carry their burden, they will just sit there and wait for the interested customers to  their “interactive & lots of fun” learning center.
In the next week, we will then proceed to app launching for tutors and customers. We will gather the interested tutors and potential customers then  interview them, gather details, let them register to the app, then get feedback.
During our interview, app testing, and feedback gathering from learning centers, we learned that they also need to be advertised in the mobile app to gain more customers easily. We also learned the importance of learning centers in a child’s growth. Learning Center was created as a place to emphasize the development of the whole child. Now, however, emphasis has shifted so much to academic development, at the expense of emotional, social, and physical development, that we often forget how important these are. However, learning centers can be a perfect place to promote these areas of growth in young children. 
With today’s busy schedules, it is easy to depend on educational electronics to help children learn, but research has shown that even with all of today’s technology, children still prefer hands-on activities. Hands-on play helps children develop spatial thinking. Playing reduces tension because children don't have to worry about expectations. They become more open and engaged, more comfortable with their surroundings, and more natural.We also learned that   learning centers allow children to understand the social world, develop communication skills, and build relationships. In sum, learning centers allow children to develop appropriately.Since mature, well-rounded growth must include the whole self, children should be encouraged to play and explore their environment for selfish and social reasons as well as academic ones. When used for all of these purposes, learning centers are important part of a balanced child’s growth and development that’s why parents must choose properly the appropriate learning center for their children.

Teaching Digital Rights and Responsibilities
Teaching used to be based on textbooks used by millions nation- or worldwide. They took an entire school year to finish leaving little time for curiosity or creativity. Some subjects still do fine with that approach because their pedagogy varies little year-to-year.
In my classes, though, that’s changing. I no longer limit myself to the contents of a textbook written years, sometimes a decade, ago. Now, I’m likely to cobble together lesson plans from a variety of time-sensitive and differentiated material. Plus, I commonly expect students to dig deeper into class conversations, think critically about current event connections, and gain perspective by comparing lesson materials to world cultures. That, of course, usually ends up not in a library but on the Internet.
Before I set them loose in the virtual world, though, I teach them the “rules of the Internet road” because make no mistake: There are rules. The Internet’s Wild West days are fast disappearing, replaced with the security offered by abiding to a discrete set of what’s commonly referred to as “digital rights and responsibilities“. It boils down to a simple maxim:
With the right to discover knowledge comes the responsibility to behave well while doing so.
The privileges and freedoms extended to digital users who type a URL into a browser or click a link in a PDF or scan a QR Code require that they bear the responsibility to keep the virtual library a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
Digital Rights
Most people if asked could easily name the benefits of the Internet:
Everyone can speak their mind knowing they’ll find like-minded individuals. 
Privacy is ensured by its vastness. Think about living in the desert — who could ever find you there? It’s that sort of vastness. 
As a creator, you can expose a world of people to your creations to purchase or just spread the word. 
You can find any information you want just by typing in search terms and slogging through the multitude of hits. 
You can create an online persona that doesn’t include your faults, lousy personality, or mistakes. 
These rights are so pervasive to our daily activities that many consider them to be inalienable, not unlike those laid out in the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. To these folks, disconnecting people from the Internet is a violation of international law and tramples all over an individual’s human rights.
Digital Responsibilities
But there are two faces to this digital coin: Inalienable or not, they require great responsibilities. Some think the Internet’s lawlessness (because no world authority holds legal authority over the world wide web) precludes cultural norms like kindness, morality, and ethics. After all, if you purchase porn from a third-world nation where it’s legal to sell, who’s going to enforce what law?
That’s where I teach my students that with rights come responsibilities. Think of the Internet as having comparable expectations to a neighborhood:
Act the same online as you’d act in your neighborhood.
Don’t share personal information. Don’t ask others for theirs. Respect their need for privacy.
Be aware of your surroundings. Know where you are in cyberspace. Act accordingly.
Just as in your community, if you are kind to others, they will be kind to you.
Don’t think anonymity protects you—it doesn’t. You are easily found with an IP address. Discuss what that is.
Share your knowledge. Collaborate and help others online.
Information Security Education and Awareness posits these Ten Commandments for computer use:
One shall not use a computer to harm other people.
One shall not interfere with other’s computer work.
One shall not snoop around in another ‘s computer files [and will keep one’s own data safe from hackers].
One shall not use a computer to steal [or plagiaurze].
One shall not use a computer to bear false witness [or to falsify one’s own identity].
One shall not copy or use any materials for which one has not paid.
One shall not use other’s computer resources without authorization or proper compensation.
One shall not appropriate other’s intellectual output [and will legally download all material like music and videos].
One shall think about social consequences of the program written or of the system designed.
One shall always use a computer in ways that respect one’s fellow humans [and report bullying, harassing, and identify theft when possible].
… and eight “don’ts” for computer users:
Do not use computers to harm other users.
Do not use computers to steal other’s information.
Do not access files without the permission of the owner.
Do not disrespect copyright laws and policies.
Do not disrespect the privacy of others.
Do not use other’s computer resources without their permission.
Do not write your User Id and Passwords where others can find it.
Do not intentionally use computers to retrieve or modify the information of others.
Knowing this, consider three of the great threats to the safe and equitable use of the Internet:
plagiarism 
hoaxes
spam
Plagiarism
The responsibility to use all data, files, and information from the Internet legally, wisely, and safely means: Don’t plagiarize. Always credit the creator. In general terms, you must cite sources for:
facts not commonly known or accepted
exact words and/or unique phrases
reprints of diagrams, illustrations, charts, pictures, or other visual materials
opinions that support research
Most students are well-versed in the illegality of stealing someone’s online words but plagiarism extends to all forms of media — images, photos, audio files, videos, and more. Few students make those connections. In fact, they’re likely to think if a picture is online, it’s free.
Hoaxes
It’s tempting to believe that everything online is legitimate yet it’s easy to fake a picture with programs like Photoshop. Look at this picture of President Roosevelt crossing a river on a moose*.
This happens so often, even by amateurs, that they are no longer legal in courts of law.
When trying to differentiate between legitimate information and hoaxes, consider these questions:
Is the author an expert or a third grader?
Is the information current or dated?
Is the data neutral or biased?
Is it believable (could a man cross a river on a moose)?
Look at these sites and decide if they’re hoaxes — and why:
Fake baseball blog
Hoax or not?
Save the tree octopus
Spam
Spam is defined as “irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the Internet to a large number of recipients.” Today, that not only includes annoying marketing emails but phishing (sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies) and spoofing (the forgery of an email header so that the message appears to be from someone legitimate). These are designed solely to trick you into giving out personal information or install malware on your computer that gives others access to it.
Here are seven tips for avoiding spam:
Don’t give out your email address in public forums. If you must, write it as johndoe at verizon dot net. That will trick trolls but not humans.
Never respond to spam.
Always preview email before downloading.
Never open attachments unless you’re sure they’re safe (i.e., from someone you know).
Use an email filter.
If spam slips through, block it through the tools available in your email program.
When you purchase online, beware of receipt dialogue boxes with checkboxes already filled in.
The most important part of this article: Accessing the Internet includes behavioral expectations. Teach this as soon as students visit the Internet (probably kindergarten). Reteach it every year. Add details that are age-appropriate. Never consider your job done until your students and children can cross that virtual road safely, after looking both ways for dangerous digital traffic.

Do not access files without the permission of the owner.
Do not disrespect copyright laws and policies.
Do not disrespect the privacy of others.
Do not use other’s computer resources without their permission.
Do not write your User Id and Passwords where others can find it.
Do not intentionally use computers to retrieve or modify the information of others.
Knowing this, consider three of the great threats to the safe and equitable use of the Internet:
plagiarism 
hoaxes
spam
Plagiarism
The responsibility to use all data, files, and information from the Internet legally, wisely, and safely means: Don’t plagiarize. Always credit the creator. In general terms, you must cite sources for:
facts not commonly known or accepted
exact words and/or unique phrases
reprints of diagrams, illustrations, charts, pictures, or other visual materials
opinions that support research
Most students are well-versed in the illegality of stealing someone’s online words but plagiarism extends to all forms of media — images, photos, audio files, videos, and more. Few students make those connections. In fact, they’re likely to think if a picture is online, it’s free.
Hoaxes
It’s tempting to believe that everything online is legitimate yet it’s easy to fake a picture with programs like Photoshop. Look at this picture of President Roosevelt crossing a river on a moose*.
This happens so often, even by amateurs, that they are no longer legal in courts of law.
When trying to differentiate between legitimate information and hoaxes, consider these questions:
Is the author an expert or a third grader?
Is the information current or dated?
Is the data neutral or biased?
Is it believable (could a man cross a river on a moose)?
Look at these sites and decide if they’re hoaxes — and why:
Fake baseball blog
Hoax or not?
Save the tree octopus
Spam
Spam is defined as “irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the Internet to a large number of recipients.” Today, that not only includes annoying marketing emails but phishing (sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies) and spoofing (the forgery of an email header so that the message appears to be from someone legitimate). These are designed solely to trick you into giving out personal information or install malware on your computer that gives others access to it.
Here are seven tips for avoiding spam:
Don’t give out your email address in public forums. If you must, write it as johndoe at verizon dot net. That will trick trolls but not humans.
Never respond to spam.
Always preview email before downloading.
Never open attachments unless you’re sure they’re safe (i.e., from someone you know).
Use an email filter.
If spam slips through, block it through the tools available in your email program.
When you purchase online, beware of receipt dialogue boxes with checkboxes already filled in.
The most important part of this article: Accessing the Internet includes behavioral expectations. Teach this as soon as students visit the Internet (probably kindergarten). Reteach it every year. Add details that are age-appropriate. Never consider your job done until your students and children can cross that virtual road safely, after looking both ways for dangerous digital traffic.

Teaching Digital Rights and Responsibilities
Teaching used to be based on textbooks used by millions nation- or worldwide. They took an entire school year to finish leaving little time for curiosity or creativity. Some subjects still do fine with that approach because their pedagogy varies little year-to-year.
In my classes, though, that’s changing. I no longer limit myself to the contents of a textbook written years, sometimes a decade, ago. Now, I’m likely to cobble together lesson plans from a variety of time-sensitive and differentiated material. Plus, I commonly expect students to dig deeper into class conversations, think critically about current event connections, and gain perspective by comparing lesson materials to world cultures. That, of course, usually ends up not in a library but on the Internet.
Before I set them loose in the virtual world, though, I teach them the “rules of the Internet road” because make no mistake: There are rules. The Internet’s Wild West days are fast disappearing, replaced with the security offered by abiding to a discrete set of what’s commonly referred to as “digital rights and responsibilities“. It boils down to a simple maxim:
With the right to discover knowledge comes the responsibility to behave well while doing so.
The privileges and freedoms extended to digital users who type a URL into a browser or click a link in a PDF or scan a QR Code require that they bear the responsibility to keep the virtual library a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
Digital Rights
Most people if asked could easily name the benefits of the Internet:
Everyone can speak their mind knowing they’ll find like-minded individuals. 
Privacy is ensured by its vastness. Think about living in the desert — who could ever find you there? It’s that sort of vastness. 
As a creator, you can expose a world of people to your creations to purchase or just spread the word. 
You can find any information you want just by typing in search terms and slogging through the multitude of hits. 
You can create an online persona that doesn’t include your faults, lousy personality, or mistakes. 
These rights are so pervasive to our daily activities that many consider them to be inalienable, not unlike those laid out in the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. To these folks, disconnecting people from the Internet is a violation of international law and tramples all over an individual’s human rights.
Digital Responsibilities
But there are two faces to this digital coin: Inalienable or not, they require great responsibilities. Some think the Internet’s lawlessness (because no world authority holds legal authority over the world wide web) precludes cultural norms like kindness, morality, and ethics. After all, if you purchase porn from a third-world nation where it’s legal to sell, who’s going to enforce what law?
That’s where I teach my students that with rights come responsibilities. Think of the Internet as having comparable expectations to a neighborhood:
Act the same online as you’d act in your neighborhood.
Don’t share personal information. Don’t ask others for theirs. Respect their need for privacy.
Be aware of your surroundings. Know where you are in cyberspace. Act accordingly.
Just as in your community, if you are kind to others, they will be kind to you.
Don’t think anonymity protects you—it doesn’t. You are easily found with an IP address. Discuss what that is.
Share your knowledge. Collaborate and help others online.
Information Security Education and Awareness posits these Ten Commandments for computer use:
