so rewatching the infinite wealth trailer for the millionth time i was thinking that they might have returned to the village where saejima stayed in y5 while hunting bears. mainly because the cabin we see them in is very similar. but i was very wrong on that

as you can see it has a similar look but doesn't fit in comparison. it would have been great to see the gang return to that area. but i guess it's also all the way up in sapporo and it would be a bad idea to go to an area that has a massive prison

but looking at diago and saejima's clothes it looks like they might be working as fishermen?

granted this is just from a quick google search (credit to https://www.spoon-tamago.com/japanese-fisherman-trading-cards/ for them talking about japanese fishermen trading cards)... but look at the headband and the overalls. it matches up really well. also majima looks to be wearing wellies. rip to the fabulous shoes ;;_;;

so they are definitely in a fishing town of some sort. though people who know more about japan in general probably already figured that out

but when i searched for 'japanese fishermen' i came upon a wikipedia article that just.. it just fits this whole thing pretty well. a lot of coincidences at the very least

first of all 'daigo fukuryu maru' translates to 'lucky dragon number 5', according to the article. we got 'daigo' and 'dragon' and the '5' could be for the old gang of kiryu, majima, saejima, daigo and akiyama. but that's unsure, to say the least since kiryu has had many allies over the years but these are the ones who have been around the most, if i remember correctly

the short version of the story is that the crew of this boat was contaminated with nuclear fallout from the US messing with nuclear weapons in Bikini Atoll back in the 50's. we are technically in the US in the game as they go to Hawaii.

and what is nuclear radiation known to do to people? give them cancer. who has cancer? kiryu.

unfortunately, in the story of lucky dragon number 5 all of the crew recovered except for one person. Kuboyama Aikichi, the boat's chief radioman. though a lot of the crew eventually died of cancer over time.

my guess, and this is no more than a guess, is that we might see that there will be a death amongst the og cast. personally i don't think it necessarily would be kiryu since if we go by the 'chief' part they are all patriarchs and or ex-chairmen of the tojo clan

otherwise, considering the correlation between the fisherman get up, US involvement, and cancer i have a guess of where this scene between the old guard takes place...

Yaizu, Shizuoka. which is lucky dragon number 5's home port and known for commercial fishing. south-west of and about 2 hours and 30 minutes away from Tokyo
