i find it so interesting to see how the cybertronians are viewed by the rest of the galaxy - we don't see a lot of aliens but its always fascinating when we do, because of COURSE they’re mostly gonna think of the cybertronians as destructive and war-like when that’s what they’ve been up to for 4 million years

ooof swerve :( swerve is one of those characters who you’re like ‘haha he’s funny’ most of the time but pretty often he’ll have startling moments of like, deep pain about life or w/e, and you’re like Oh Shit and then you kinda move on, until finally the swearth arc hits and it all comes together. what I'm saying is that this is some nice building towards that

i fucking love that shot so much. does everyone see this. rewind is a GIANT FUCKIN FLASHDRIVE and he’s hovering ominously thru the air. like, what happened to all the biz from issue 1 or w/e where his husband was roasting him for having a non-mobile altmode? if he can fucking HOVER than Actually rewind is the fucking coolest, no contest

or like, is the implication that they all teleported there (having switched to alt mode along the way i guess?) and rewind is just like, suspended in midair? bc that's what the speed bubble text implies, but it also totally looks like they're just travelling across the area and rewind can levitate

anyways. that panel has always cracked me up lmaoooo

GODDD and there's the joke payoff from a few issues ago - rewind, facing front, hearing drift transform behind him and not only being able to tell its drift without looking, but also being able to tell that drift is upset, JUST like chromedome said he could....fucking PEAK i love that type of payoff humor

ooof and more swerve introspection. i mentioned earlier but i fucking LOVE how this series showcases the extremely wide range of reactions/coping mechanisms that everyone has towards the endless war finally being over - and swerve really nails it here: confusing peace with happiness, and assuming that everything would automatically be better after the war is over, when in reality you still have to work just as hard to build shit rather than break it

also i adore the horror of a guy who is half-embedded in the wall, his face stuck in a rictus of terror & death, waxing philosophical about how peace is about the freedom of choice, and how they should all just feel lucky to have survived...oof, that's very specifically ironic coming from you, dude

but i do love the little characterization we get here for ore, a character who is literally already dead and has so far been used as a plot device pretty exclusively, but we still get to know little things about him here, and how HE feels about the war and the current peace, etcetc. it really makes the story and characters seem believable, like every character has a story even if we don't take the time to see it

kinda love how clear it is that drifts whole hippy schtick is just a front to cover his anger, and a tool to make him seem like an approachable, upstanding autobot

drift dramatically monologuing while pointing his sword at the sky is extra funny with everyone else just staring at him doing this

magnus finally getting some appreciation for being The most law abiding guy like, ever

i love rewind being a history geek, and cyclonus passionately explaining cybertronian creation theory

HHHH i fucking LOVE the myth/lore stuff like....a lot of franchises tend not to dwell in this type of mythology, you tend to get The True Version Of Events, but this kind of explanation rocks bc it totally sounds like the kind of religious mythology that naturally develops based on a species’ progression

and drift and ratchet’s very opposing and polarizing views certainty do make for interesting perspectives, tho i feel like the story sometimes leans too much towards ratchet being ‘more correct’ bc, logic! or something idk i feel like i used to have a couple mild opinions on this but i don't remember

and its funny bc i am, irl, an atheistic medical professional who believes in science above all else - essentially just like ratchet. but i feel like the narrative portrayal skews a little more in his favor than i’d like, despite that

oof, the themes and plot threads of this annual are all so nicely tied up (which is something i love abt mtmte, especially early on when the story is smaller), with swerve now choosing to disobey an order from rodimus

oh yeah, the circle of light! that's who you've been looking for this whole time basically!

and then the ending, hearing that magnus smiled (willingly!) :) i love it

lmao i feel like over half of my sentences in this recap - and in most of my recaps - contain ‘i love it’ or ‘i love how-’ or some variation upon that theme. I'm predictable

anyways - the annual! i love this issue. its really long which is cool and i feel like it does a lot to flesh out the setting and lore, and even the characters as well. also, as i said above, it does an excellent job telling an exciting and well-contained story, with solid story beats throughout and plot threads that emerge and get resolved all within this issue, even while leaving plenty of stuff up for future resolution. that's the Early MTMTE Special, and i adore it. tho i will say I'm glad we’ll be getting back to the regularly scheduled art style, bc this one didn't really do it for me

(Note: there was originally like eight more cynical lines about how birthdays mean you’re that much closer to the end, but I scrapped it because when I try to use dark humor it usually just ends up kinda gruesome.

There’s probably something wrong with me and someday we’ll find out what that is, but today is not that day)

Congratulations! @(^-^)@ You were only sixteen but your mind was older- now you’re seventeen, but I’m sure the latter part of that quote still applies and the blog will blow us all away even more than before! Hope you have a wonderful, satisfying birthday despite how non-stop you are (don’t forget to take a break when you can) and one last time, congratulations!

(also depending on how the timezone difference between Croatia and Korea works, we’re only a day or two apart- my birthday is March 30th, which is tomorrow over here! :D so cool)

I know, I still like the idea of trans Mutsuki better but other than any hints dropped in canon, I just think it’s very unlikely that TG as a Japanese manga will add a 100%, conmpletely confirmed LGBTQ character. I believe Ishida himself is pretty open towards the LGBTQ community (Nico’s portrayal is a bit questionable but in an omake Yomo is shown thinking that anyone he dates could become Touka’s aunt OR uncle (though of course that could be a translation error), Shuu is a subversion of manga stereotypes regarding gay men and TG in general has a lot of interesting themes regarding sexuality and gender), but idk, the idea of a mainstream seinen manga like TG adding LGBTQ themes that go beyond heavy implication seems unlikely (though who knows, it could happen).

Mutsuki just makes me bitter. FIrst all the arguments about their gender and now I don’t even like them anymore (they used to be an adorable cinnamon roll but after recent chapters, while I still feel for them they’ve become a lot less sympathetic).

(Also this just makes me sound salty but I recently came across a very aggressive blog dedicated to reminding everybody that MUTSKI IS MALE AND YOU ARE ALL WRONG and reading through it just made me kinda mad and irritated all at once. Once a trans person made a post saying that despite being trans themself they didn’t think Mutsuki was, offering several manga moments as decent evidence and being quite polite, and the mod of this blog answered them with what basically boils down to 'lol no it’s possible to be transphobic even if you’re part of the LGBTQ community and you are clearly one of these people’.)

Don’t worry, cinnamon roll Hinami isn’t being forgotten! :) I’m really looking forward to her meeting Akira. I’ve always liked Hina but these recent chapters pushed her up on my ‘favorite characters’ list- she’s just way too sweet.

Reading the manga: wth Ishida you are officially my least favorite person like even Isayama is better than you

Reading Ishida’s translated tweets/the comments he makes in TG extras: why are you so nice

Yeah, I kinda hated Urie at first (I understood his goals and motivations but did he really have to be such a jerk? I honestly thought he was going to get somebody killed in the auction arc) but after the auction arc I started to like him better (I think the official moment I decided ‘I like Urie Kuki as a character’ was when Shirazu died) and I kinda freaked out when I realized what happened to him…

He would make a great Burr though. I think he’s way more willing to act than Burr and is not a ‘talk less, smile more’ kind of person (more like a ‘talk less and don’t smile at all’ type) but they’re still really similar. I could also see Urie singing Wait for It…with Kaneki as Hamilton. Not because Kaneki particularly fits Hamilton but because of how Burr is clearly somewhat jealous about Hamilton’s progress despite not approving of his methods in Wait For It (in an interview about the song I think LMM said something about it describing the feeling of watching your friends and acquaintances getting so far ahead in life and thinking 'Wait for it; someday I’ll get there too’).

Am I the only one who headcanons that despite acting super classy and not knowing much about rap/hip-hop before someone (maybe Hori?) gets him to listen to it, Tsukiyama actually turns out to be a really good rapper?

Speaking of Tsukiyama though, I want to see more of his interactions with Naki

Hmm, since Mado died after he was already an adult couldn’t Akira technically count? We know from omakes that Mado was a doting father and made her childhood as happy as possible, so while her life might not have been 100% perfect it was still really good in TG terms. Takizawa before he entered the academy also counts.

but even those two had so much tragedy happen to them as adults…

And yeah, if you have any good animes/mangas to recommend, please do! And genre doesn’t matter- though I usually prefer dark, psychological stories I’m willing to make exceptions when the series in question is really good (that’s what I did with YoI after all :) the only genres I’m really reluctant to read are horror and high school romances).

Gaah, it’s people like that that make dislike the lgbts... Yeah, I guess that would make Kaneki a good Hamilton. STILL DON’T WANT BURR (COOKIE) TO KILL HIM, BECAUSE KANEKI IS A CINNAMON ROLL WHO DOESN’T DESERVE TO DIE! The dynamics between Kaneki and Urie don’t make a good Ham-Burr, but their positions in their job, so I guess they really are the best pair for Hamilton. Why did Ham have to die ;-; That makes casting so much harder for me.

Oh yeah, Tsukiyama would be an amazing rappers, I don’t doubt it at all. In fact, I’m sure that he’d be able to do Guns and Ships perfectly.

Fun fact: You made a typo saying ‘Mado died after SHE became an adult’ (I changed it) and you gave me the biggest heart attack. Pls, my phone wasn’t used to the speed with which I typed ‘TOKYO GHOUL WIKI AKIRA MADO’ to check if what you said is true. Yeah, Akira could count, I guess. That makes a total of ONE character... Not much, eh?

I don’t know if I count Takizawa... I think that the way his life is now, it very much makes up the lack of angst in his childhood.

If you’re as obsessed with the holiday season as I am, you’re probably already streaming all the Christmas- and Hanukkah-themed episodes of your favorite shows. Trust me, I’m right there with you. That’s why I’ve decided to compile this definitive list of the best holiday TV specials to watch this December.

1. The Office, “Christmas Party“

The best thing about The Office is that it’s FULL of holiday episodes, but their first is by far the best. Dunder Mifflin’s “Secret Santa” party goes awry when Michael pulls a classic, well, Michael move and switches up the entire gift-giving process, leading the entire office into mayhem as they compete over an iPod. What’s best about this episode is that it has all the magic of the early Office seasons — Michael’s tone-deaf actions, Jim and Pam’s addictive will-they-or-won’t-they chemistry, and, of course, Dwight’s outrageous one-liners. This is definitely the episode I’ll be playing on repeat this year.

2. Bob’s Burgers, “God Rest Ye Marry Gentle-Mannequins“

I’m honestly obsessed with the holiday-themed Bob’s Burgers episodes, mostly because they really focus on the spirit of the season. In this episode, Bob finds a squatter named Chet in a storage unit he inherited and the Belchers decide to take him in for the holiday season. But there are two distinctly unique things about Chet: he’s great at creating window displays and he claims he used to be a store mannequin. As Chet becomes increasingly unstable, he threatens to ruin Christmas if the Belchers don’t reunite him with his past love. This episode is as weird as it sounds, but it manages to be quirky and sweet all at once.

3. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, “A Very Sunny Christmas“

If you’re a fan of It’s Always Sunny, this episode is classic. Mac and Charlie are gearing up for Christmas when they make some rather unpleasant realizations about their childhood holiday traditions, leading to a rather violent fallout as they attempt to confront the past. Dennis and Dee, on the other hand, try to get back at Frank for years of shitty Christmases with a plan a la A Christmas Carol, but that backfires when Frank realizes they still haven’t learned the lessons he’s been trying to teach them all along. The whole gang comes together at the end when Frank has a change of heart, but because this is It’s Always Sunny, it doesn’t have the heartwarming ending that you’d expect.

4. Community, “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas“

Community’s first-ever Christmas episode is a huge nod to Christmas classics like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, considering the whole thing is in claymation. Abed is stoked for Christmas, but his friends start to get concerned when he tells he views the world is stop-motion animation. The gang decides to indulge in his fantasy in hopes of controlling it, attempting to turn the day into a much-needed therapy session, but Abed has other plans: he’s going to find the meaning of Christmas, whether his friends plan on helping him or not. It ends up being a sweet episode with a great meaning, and I, for one, can say that it definitely helped me get over my fear of terrible claymation.

5. Friends, “The One With The Holiday Armadillo“

When Ross’s son Ben stays with him for the holidays, Ross is bent on honoring their Jewish heritage and teaching him about Hanukkah. But instead of being excited, Ben is upset that Santa won’t be visiting him this year, prompting Ross to figure out how to mix both Christmas and Hanukkah into one succinct holiday. The whole debacle ends with Santa Claus, Superman, and “The Holiday Armadillo” all banding together to teach Ben the meaning of Hanukkah. Elsewhere, Phoebe tries to sabotage Rachel and Joey’s living situation when she worries Rachel doesn’t want to be roommates with her anymore.

6. Bojack Horseman, “Sabrina’s Christmas Wish“

It may not be part of the actual television series, but Bojack Horseman‘s Christmas special definitely could fit nearly anywhere in the storyline. Bojack doesn’t plan on celebrating Christmas, but Todd manages to convince him to watch the special holiday episode of Bojack’s old show Horsin’ Around. The entire episode is a show within a show as we watch the youngest daughter on Horsin’ Around discover Santa for the first time, but she has a big wish for him: she wants him to bring her dead parents back. Horsin’ Around brings us the normal Christmas sentiments we’re conditioned to look for in holiday specials while Bojack Horseman delivers the strained, somewhat sad satisfaction we’ve learned to expect from such a dark, funny show.

7. The OC, “The Best Christmukkah Ever“

The OC introduced me to the idea of “Christmukkah,” the merging of Christmas and Hanukkah into one beautiful, festive holiday. At least, that’s what they celebrate in the Cohen household, where half the family is Jewish and the other half Christian. It’s Ryan’s first year with the Cohens, which means he’s along for the ride. But because this is the OC, there’s still plenty of drama between festivities: there’s a lavish party, Sandy and Caleb have a showdown, Marissa gets drunk (lol are we surprised?), and Anna and Summer compete for Seth’s confession. Let’s not forget Summer’s Wonder Woman surprise, which is definitely one of the best OC moments of all time.

8. SNL with Alec Baldwin in 1998

You wouldn’t expect SNL to be high up on the Christmas special list, but boy, did this one hit all the right notes. In his opening monologue, Alec Baldwin is visited by the ghost of Christmas present and future (John Goodman and Jimmy Fallon, respectively), though not past, who happened to drink just a little too much the night before. This episode also introduced us to “Schweddy Balls,” which is hands-down SNL’s best holiday-themed skit (and yes, it’s about almost exactly what you think. Almost.)

9. Modern Family, “Express Christmas“

When the family realizes they won’t be able to be together on Christmas day, they make a plan to celebrate early — only to realize that the only day they’d all be free to spend together before New Year’s is actually that very day. They decide to throw together a last-minute holiday get together, meaning they have only a few hours to get a tree, decorate the house, buy gifts and make a special Christmas dinner. The episode is full of all the gags and witty one-liners that you’d expect from Modern Family, as well as one parting Christmas message: even when everything goes wrong, you still have family.

10. New Girl, “Santa“

The gang decides to spend the holidays jumping from Christmas part to Christmas party, but they don’t expect the drama that comes with it. Jess is revisited by an ex who hopes to make things right, Schmidt must deal with Cece’s rejection, and Nick has to come to terms with the fact that his girlfriend is a bit of a wild child – and that she definitely wants to have sex with him in public. It’s a cute episode that’s all about love and friendship, and I’m here for it if only because of Nick’s terrible attempt at a lap dance.

11. 30 Rock, “Ludachristmas“

It’s Christmas in New York and the TGS cast is getting ready for their annual Ludachristmas party, but the whole thing is ruined when Kenneth locks everyone in a room and forces them to focus on the true meaning of Christmas (with a little help from a reverend, of course). Elsewhere in the city, Liz’s family and Jack’s mother have all come up to visit. Liz’s seemingly perfect and oversupportive family gets to Jack, whose mother, Colleen, is as critical and bitter as ever. As both storylines head toward disaster, the show reminds us of two critical things: Christmas isn’t just about the gifts and every family is, at its core, dysfunctional.

12. Parks and Recreation, “Citizen Knope“

During her two-week suspension, Leslie decides to use her extra time to focus on her campaign and forms a citizens action committee to continue involvement in the local government. She also surprises her friends at the Parks and Rec department with incredibly thoughtful and meaningful gifts, which prompts her co-workers to build her a miniature version of City Hall made of gingerbread — and another present that’s far more meaningful.

13. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, “my mom, Greg’s Mom, And Josh’s Sweet Dance Moves!“

When Rebecca’s critical mother Naomi visits West Covina for Hanukkah, Rebecca finds herself bending over backwards to please her — and even going so far as to lie about her life. Rebecca hopes that if Naomi is proud of her new life, she’ll finally give Rebecca a precious heirloom she’s been waiting her whole life to inherit. But when Naomi discovers the true reason she came to California, it threatens to ruin their entire relationship. Meanwhile, Greg visits his mother for Christmas, though he’s still bitter about how she left him as a child. To cope with the situation (and to finally have a witness to how horrible his mother is), he invites an unexpected guest along for the ride. If you haven’t seen Crazy Ex-Girlfriend before, this episode might be lost on you — but if you have, it’s an absolute staple.

14. Arrested Development, “Afternoon Delight“

The Bluth family is quite literally incapable of having a normal family gathering, and Christmas isn’t any different. Everyone’s getting read for the Bluth Company Christmas party, but naturally, there’s plenty of drama. When George Michael ditches the party for his girlfriend, Michael teams up with Maeby, who wants to get back at her parents. This prompts Lindsay and George Michael to unite after both feel abandoned. The writers rely on their usual hijinx, from ridiculous incest gags (watching Michael and Maeby accidentally perform “Afternoon Delight” together never gets less awkward) to Tobias, once again, being completely disregarded by the entire family, despite being hit my a car. It’s a pretty standard episode for the series, but hey, it’s still about Christmas. Who needs Santa Claus when you’ve got G.O.B. running around in a banana suit?

15. Black Mirror, “White Christmas“

Black Mirror is a strange show to be on this list, but they DO have a Christmas episode, and it’s actually a pretty interesting one. The episode revolves around two men who are stationed at a remote outpost who finally decide to open up about their lives while sharing breakfast on Christmas morning. The episode consists of three different storylines, but the most heartbreaking (and Christmas-themed) one is about how one of the men was “blocked” from seeing his ex-girlfriend and child, but how he visited him every Christmas regardless to leave his daughter gifts. Like most Black Mirror episodes, the whole thing has creepy (and quite frankly sad) undertones, but if you’re looking for something holiday-themed, this one still fits the bill.

MW : You live in Cambridge(shire) , what's best about the area in terms of work, rest and play?

TG : I live in a small village just outside Cambridge, which is perfect for our family. Thank goodness for good broadband, otherwise work would be more challenging. I have two small children who enjoy the countryside and it's lovely to see fields at the bottom of the garden, which is also home to some sheep. The children are really lucky to see various farm animals and it's perfect for family walks. There's easily access to the A14 and commuting to London isn't too painful. The only downside is there's no pub...

MW : Your new project, 'Tarba's House', is webcam based and social media interactive. What’s it all about? Your hopes for?

TG: I've always been interested in broadcast and technology, having left my job in London with a major broadcaster in 2016. I started missing that element of my life. It's in my blood. I explored the idea of trying a 'TV-style' format on the Facebook platform. So, along came the idea for Tarba's House, which is streamed live from my kitchen. Currently, I interview guests either at home or use Skype/Face Time. We interview a wide range of guests, from business through to music. Initially it was going to just be focused on music, but with copyright and licence issues it's very complicated. The sound for live music is also very important and we are still very much learning how to get it perfect. All of which is something we will have to get our heads around eventually.

TV viewing behaviour is changing, even more so with the younger generation and I really believe LIVE broadcast across social media platforms will take off. America are already ahead. Currently, we are only one of three people in the UK using the software...in America it's in the thousands...

Apart from wanting to learn and play with new technology, I wanted to start pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I was looking for someone to present it, whilst I worked behind the scenes, but no one stepped forward. I haven't presented in a long time. I'm pretty rusty but I'll keep going even when I really feel like I'm out of my depth. I'd rather be criticised for doing something rather than being someone that doesn't do anything.

My hopes for Tarba's House is carry on tinkering around with the content of the show until we are happy. It's been great seeing the number of 'likes' grow and the support has taken me by surprise. I do have a brilliant 'fairy god man' who I've never met, he believes in what we are trying to do and has helped so much. A few people have got in touch about re-introducing the comical stuff but that's likely to end up on a You Tube channel. More likely to be a 'mock-doc' but not until 2018.

MW : You founded, Buzzella, tell me about that...

TG : My very new website! It's a listing site, hopefully to help parents like myself.

Every birthday, my children always seem to have ambitious ideas for their parties. My daughter wanted a film party for her 6th birthday. So we googled to see if we could find a cost effective option - locally. Nope. She gave us her film storyboard and wanted all her friends to star in it. Our jaws dropped. Borrowing some equipment, we managed to shoot the film in our garden with around 30 children.

The next bit was to show her film, so we got in touch with the local cinema. We hadn't realised that they actually hire the screens out, and at an affordable rate. That's when I thought it would be really good to have a site that helped parents find out what is available locally. Also, hoping that it does inspire people to have fun doing something different. Slowly businesses are finding us and traffic seems to be increasing, which is great :-)

MW: You've over 21 years experience at all levels in the broadcasting industry, including radio and television. Tell me about your Radio Avalon days and your different adventures with Red TV and Cambridge Presents community TV...

TG : Radio Avalon (Glastonbury Festival's radio station) played such an important part in my life. I learnt so much and it really did drive my love for radio. It was really hard work, especially walking from one field to another. The site is so huge. I really enjoyed doing the live shows. I have some brilliant and fun memories from that time. Most of the interviews were set up before going on site, and catching them before or after their performances. I've had to do interviews while the bands are being driven across to stages and even one in someone's tent, whilst it rained heavily, with their girlfriend's knickers and clothes everywhere.

I wanted to see and understand how the television production side worked, lucky to spend time with a local television station called Red TV. The only way I could get through the door was to offer to produce a show. I had no idea what I was doing. Eventually I found myself running the TV station, with little experience. But, for me it was a dream come true. Red TV lead me to working for a major broadcast company in London, where I was for nearly 11 years until 2016.

A former boss of mine got in touch after the local TV licence for Cambridge was advertised, and asked if I was interested in helping with the application for Cambridge Presents. Putting the application together wasn't straight forward and getting the right people on board was equally challenging. Staring at spreadsheets trying to get the financials less daunting. We did try to find additional backers and people that really believed in producing local television but Cambridge is better known for tech rather than broadcasting. Earlier this year the station was sold due to the main stakeholder running for local mayor.

MW : Who have you most enjoyed interviewing, and why? Who would you like to chat to, but have yet too, and your reasons?

TG : It's got to be the small bands, they are so fresh and excited to do interviews. They haven't had the same questions fired at them over and over again. On the other hand, the more famous are the more challenging trying to come up with interesting questions. There are quite a few famous names, but probably Muse - when they were supporting Skunk Anansie. Years ago. They were completely exhausted, and I remember they just wanted to watch the band and then do the interview. I ended up on their tour bus, doing an interview whilst they were almost nodding off!

Who would I like to chat to? Mmmm... that's a hard question! When I was younger it was all about bands and music, now I find myself wanting to chat with anyone who has gone through the tough times and come out the other end through a good fight, with a successful story to tell. They don't necessary have to be famous. Those are the people that inspire me - and others.

If I had to go for someone famous, it would have to be Stephen King. Brilliant novelist who kept going despite hardship and rejection. I'd love to know what he's like as a person. I have been bold enough to email his agent to see if I could get an interview. I wasn't surprised when I got a 'no, but thank you' response.

MW : Tell me about the last gig you went to, and the biggest/best you've attended to date...

TG : The last gig was Beth Orton in Cambridge as I was curious to hear her new music. Beth was one of the first interviews I did at Glastonbury... years ago! I don't get the chance to go out to gigs as much since becoming a parent! Now that the children are a bit older I'll be making up for lost time!

Nothing will ever beat seeing 'The Prodigy' at Glastonbury Festival. I was totally blown away by the atmosphere. Watching Keith walking on people's shoulders in the audience. The lighting. The crowd going wild.

MW : Why is creating so important to you, and where does this unique talent from do you think?

TG : My dad. He was very knowledgeable, creative, and above all eccentric. My childhood wasn't a conventional one - Hippy parents - and living most of my childhood in different parts of Africa. It was normal for me to catch fire flies, spy on lizards laying eggs through to seeing puffer fish on beaches. My childhood wasn't a fairy tale either and imagination is certainly a way of escapism. As a coping mechanism as a child I use to write lots of short stories, full of fairies and unicorns! I also watched my dad try to run his business, whilst looking after 4 young children when my parents split up. He always seem to have the ability to survive but do it in a way that was far from straightforward, especially when he had to give up his business to look after us as a single parent.

I don't remember hearing him moan about money, that would be a waste of his time, instead he would find ways of making money. He seem to have a constant flow of ideas from wood craft kits to sell one week. By the next, we would find ourselves on a boat at Henley selling strawberries and cream to surprised passersby.

He was also a great storyteller and always seem to have a captive audience. Some of his stories were greatly exaggerated, which made them more interesting and funny. So, yes,definitely my dad.

MW : What are your book and music recommendations?

TG : I tend to read biographies and 'helpful' books. We were given a brilliant book called ‘Good Night Stories For Rebel Girls’ by Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo, which centres on a 100 real heroic women. I've been working my way through this.

My fiction fix is reading bedtime stories to my children. ‘Paper Dolls’ by Julia Donaldson always leaves a lump in my throat. It's such a beautiful story. It's also a reminder that children grow up quickly and that time is precious.

I've been listening to a local indie-rock band called History & Lore, really think they are the next big thing. Heard them on the radio and have been listening ever since.

MW : Tell me about your record collection...

TG : Please don't remind me... my collection use to be around 20,000 CDs until I managed to get it down to around 10,000. Recently, I'm having to start going through the process of clearing it down again. Find the whole process pretty awful. Just don't have the space. I have CD collections all around the house ; I even have boxes under the bed.

My collection is very mixed. You'll find Jeff Buckley next to DeeJay Punk-Roc, Tchaikovsky next to Metallica, and so on. Somewhere I even have a Sam Mendes CD!

MW : What's your favorite pizza topping and favorite fizzy drink to go with?

TG : Veggie Supreme! Usually with an orange juice or water. If I'm lucky, a small beer! I don't tend to drink fizzy drinks.

MW : Plans for the rest of 2017?

TG : At the moment it will be about growing www.buzzella.co.uk and Tarba's House by means of cross-promotional marketing with a few other companies that we are talking to.

I will probably be armed with lots of books learning more about SEO too. An area that I'm not familiar with, but extremely important in terms of helping develop any brand or company.

We are also having to look at new ways to engage and book guests. In an ideal world I will have guests booked well in advance for Tarba's House!
