Look Tati, I love you and I love your anons, but I need that cliffhanger to not be Barry being arrested. The second half of S3 has been so depressing already that ending it with Barry being arrested for murder would just irritate me, because then it shows that the writers really don't see all the complaints. I like the Trial storyline, I'm just not sure where it could go this early? It feels like it would be more of just everyone being depressed because Barry's in prison, not to mention (2)
all the reviewers who want it to go back to the light tone. It would be more of WA supporting each other, which is nice, but I want to see them not plagued by turmoil for more than five minutes lol. BUT I want it to happen next season at some point, because I want DeVoe to be the one to do it. Maybe he has like photographic evidence of it happening and then after a season of messing with Barry, he gets arrested in the 4x15 ep before the big hiatus. Because then we get a few episodes where we (2)can expand the world, have Iris reporting/investigating, have Barry and Wally training, see CCPD, bring Cynthia back etc. Plus I think Barry being in prison over the hiatus wouldn’t work so much because it’s such a long time, and it could suck all the fun out of the wait. I’m sorry I don’t want to rain on you guys’ parade, i’m just 100% done with all the depressing shit, and I think it would be better as a plot for the final few episodes of S4 (like as WA get back from their honeymoon) (3)rather than the ending of this one and the beginning of the next one. Plus I’m not sure they can pull it off if they do it now, and storylines like this are always felt more potently when they come off the back of a happy season instead of a doom and gloom one. Don’t hate me guys! 🙈 That said, IA that it’s a possibility, so how do you think the season will open if Barry is arrested? And how do you think it’ll play out? (last one)
Hmm, I obviously don’t want the storyline ever if it’s going to be people depressed because he’s in prison rather than actively and hilariously running in circles trying to figure out how to get him off without revealing that he’s the Flash.
But yes, introducing the Thinker next season and bringing Cecile in on the secret this season helps set the stage for the trial storyline at some point in S4. It would only take up a few episodes as you said, and we should get Iris investigating out of it.
There is going to be a cliffhanger this season, or at least that’s what we’ve been told. All I know is it better not be Barry going into the speedforce. What cliffhanger are you hoping to see?
If it were Trial of the Flash, I’d be hoping to see: Iris interviewing Random Civilians who have experienced doppelganger problems as well as tracking down Doctor Light as proof that sometimes people who look like you do evil things. Cecile would have to take herself off the case - she’s the DA - because she can’t compromise herself or Barry’s secret identity. Then her assistant Devoe takes over and seems to come up with impossible evidence proving Barry is a murderer when the team know it’s a lie. That’s how they figure out he’s dirty or working with someone else. Otherwise he is Barry’s defense attorney and gets him off with ease, but in a way that seems suspicious to Joe and Iris.
If Barry’s secret identity is at risk, then Jay G. would return and dress up as our Flash to throw people off the scent. Iris might write an impassioned editorial about the night or otherwise be a material witness at the trial, either way she gets public opinion on Barry’s side. Barry gets out in 2-3 episodes max, but while he was in prison he heard about some shady dealings in the criminal underworld that lead to the Thinker. So they know from pretty early on that Devoe is the bad guy, but they can’t touch him as Team Flash because he’s not a metahuman himself and there’s no hard evidence (yet) linking him to the underground army of metas that he controls.
