Viva

was 14 during the great escape

nobody has ever seen Viva without her glove and she'll get aggressively defensive if she even feels something brush her arm

when she’s not out and about taking care of the putt putt colony, Viva sits in her room scrapbooking family scenarios she would’ve wanted to experience

Poppy

was 1 during the great escape

remained partly grey after the events of Trolls 1, which was unheard of so she's been the subject of speculation in the village since

Poppy gets insecure when she sees trolls staring or when they ask her about it, but she tries not to hold it against them

Poppy doesn't even know who Branch is, but best believe i'm making Broppy happen in this AU 😤

Creek

did not betray his village bc he wasn't shoved into Gristle's mouth this time

he was strolling the forest and encountered a small group of unconvinced bergens after Trolls 1, struck a deal out of fear in that moment to lure trolls for them every once in a while (NOW he's betraying his village)

still figuring out the moment that led to this but he's outed as a traitor, Poppy tells Gristle about the bergen group, the group is exiled and now they're out for Creek's blood

Creek ran out of the village QUICK and he's on the run. in the forest alone (as he should be)

im gonna use this as a chance to explain putt putt branch au a lil :3c

it started with me going "what if, following this comic, clay finds out branch was also stranded away from the village" so i was thinking about like how would that work out w everything plot wise?

clay and branch help viva establish the putt putt trolls! branch is still gray from losing his grandma but clay is helping him! they travel a while and find the golf course, and viva immediately takes charge of the group. clay is a little distracted by figuring out what's wrong with his brother, but ends up taking charge of the boring side of the operation when he sees viva struggling.

branch eventually opens up and tells him about what happened to their grandma, blaming himself for both that and his brothers leaving. clay insists that it isn't his fault in the slightest. branch asks if they're ever gonna see their brothers again, and clay (kinda hesitantly) promises they'll look for them once it's safe to. in the meantime, clay convinces branch to help him help viva run the place and build up their new society!

back in troll village and the tree, floyd comes back a while after the escape to find the tree dead and the village in ruins and abandoned. after exploring a little he finds branch's glasses in their old pod and thinks he left him to die, which causes him to go gray. he spends a little while there and as he's about to leave, he meets none other than cloud guy, who (very annoyingly) shows him through the tunnels and towards the new village

he gets there and figures out branch isn't there, which only enforces his idea that he died, as well as his grandma being missing. floyd decides to stay and build branch's bunker for him, except he doesn't have the plans so he has to wing it. he is kinda left alone due to being gray and becomes the local sad boy recluse, avoiding parties and being social in general due to his grief and self inflicted shame.

after a few months, a young poppy starts following him around and trying to befriend him. he doesn't really respond but he doesn't chase her off, allowing her to do what she wants. it takes a whiiiiile, but he slowly warms up to her, though he isn't about to drop his problems on a child. eventually, she reveals she found something in the tunnels during the escape and shows him; turns out it's branch's bunker plans, which makes floyd emotional. the two end up in a sorta older brother-younger sister friendship by the first movie!

when movie one happens, poppy runs to him for help when the chef captures her friends. floyd, of course, is immediately on board, not wanting anyone else to die because of the bergens. it kinda plays out similar to canon, with floyd finally admitting he feels responsible for losing branch. she helps him figure out he couldn't have known, and in turn he helps her when creek betrays them all, finally gaining some of his colors back

the second and third movies are pretty rough in my brain atm tbh aksdhjkhdkfh i do know that floyd gets captured during the second movie, leading to the third being jd receiving a forged letter and going to poppy for help and them setting off to gather up his brothers since they're the best chance they have at the family harmony. when they find clay they also find branch, and branch is a little sore about floyd seeing poppy as a sister when he was out there waiting for him, but they talk it out after everything!!!

I need name recommendations for that au where Brozone doesn't split.

Also thinking about how Trolls 1 would go since I feel like Poppy and pals wouldn't be so dismissive of the Bergen threat knowing that some trolls got left behind. Maybe Poppy promises to take precautions, but things get out of hand. She tries to slow the party down, but it's too late as chef shows up. I could see Branch and his Bros at the party at the start, but as it gets out of hand Branch gets increasingly stressed. JD had Floyd escort Branch home while he and Bruce go talk to Poppy. They're about to help her try to de-escalate but ya know, Chef. JD and Bruce help dragging trolls into hiding, JD tackling a pair into some flowers and Bruce grabbing trolls with his hair and dropping them in foliage. Uncertain if I want either or both of them to get captured 🤔 we'll go with both for now. Poppy goes to break the news to Branch, already crying but determined to go after them. Branch blows up at her at first for letting it get so crazy, but he agrees to go with her. Something along the lines of "Yeah, of course I'm mad! But they're my brothers... and you're my best friend. Obviously I'm going with you."

Floyd wants to go as well, but Poppy asks if he can stay to watch after Peppy and the rest of the village. Yeah, her dad is a grown man, but he's not handling the incident well and Poppy leaving isn't helping. Pop Village still ends up in Branch's bunker, but Floyd keeps them occupied and sane.

Meanwhile (with inspiration from Eldest and Youngest ONE OF THE BEST AU'S) JD big-brothers the snack pack. I almost wanted to do a plot twist and make JD the one almost fed to King Gristle, but it'd make the story too wonky imo. So it's still Creek, and JD and the other Snack pack members get ahold of Creek's hair to try and keep him from getting taken. Chef chops his hair short, shocking Creek into silence so he barely fights when he gets fed to Gristle. JD is having Grandma flashbacks, feeling awful for failing someone else, and has to fight off the gray creeping up his limbs.

Creek makes the deal to offer up the rest of Pop Village just like in canon, but he does it out of desperation and immediately regrets it. So when we get to Creek betraying them, it's more Creek trying not to cry and pleading with Poppy to understand. She's still mad, but the fear in Creek's eyes keeps her from truly hating him. Creek begs them for ideas on what he could do, but none of them have any. So Chef grabs him by the hair, his frayed injured hair, and drops him back in her fanny pack.
