Outlander Convention Vegas part 3
Okay, so I’ve had some questions and requests that warrant a third installment on my blog.  I’ll try to do you all justice, but remember I was only there one day and I didn’t see certain casts members at all.  I did get details from my friends who were also in attendance for the entire weekend.
Stanley Weber:  His birthday was during the Con so they gave him a cake and sang Happy Birthday.  He’s 33.  Just a baby yet...He mentioned that he and Cesar were chatting backstage before his q&a and Cesar said, “How are you?  Good to see you!  Did you know you’re my father?”  Stanley had no idea the Comte was Fergus’ dad because he’d never read the books.  He hopes this means that maybe he can come back at a later date because it would be fun to explore that revelation further.  Oh and by the way, he was wearing dolphin socks “because they make me happy.”
Stephen Walters:  Stephen did a lot of singing during the event and was a great MC!  He had a fan song called Outlander Fans Are Here To Stay that was really cute.  The lyrics said we were all crazy, but he wouldn’t have us any other way.  He also sang Black Bird by the Beatles.  He performed original music like I Would If I Could and Invisible Child.  He and Andrew Gower sang a song together called Do You Remember which will be on a documentary they did together called “Humpty Dumpty.”  It was very pretty and melodic.  Stephen really surprised me with how musically talented he was.  He and Graham are now working on a movie together that Graham is going to direct.
Stephen Cree:  I’m sorry, but I don’t have much on Stephen.  I know Jo from Aloha Outlanders gave him a leis and a grass skirt which he proudly wore most of the day. I do plan to meet him at an event in October so I can share that experience afterward for anyone who wants to hear it.
Cesar Dumboy:  Cesar was so happy to chat with fans that he was chronically late to all his photo and autograph ops.  His handler kept wrangling him all day because he just wouldn’t stop talking.  He was an absolute sweetheart!
Grant O’Rourke:  Grant is so charming and hysterically funny!  He’d come sit in the audience during the q&a sessions and watch the other actors talking.  He was completely approachable and kind.  During his q&a, he talked about reading the description for the role of Rupert and it said, “Widowed fat man with a beard.”  He said, “well, I can grow a beard and I’m already fat so I could definitely do this part!”  He went on to say he created a whole backstory for Rupert and “made a tiny doll of his late wife to carry around.”  He talked very lovingly about how he created this doll and had it constantly with him on set for more than a month because “I had to really channel that widow aspect of the character”  Graham made it abundantly clear this doll was kind of ridiculous and creepy.  He called it “like a little voodoo doll” and the audience started laughing.  Grant acknowledged that it was a little extreme, but he was SO proud of his little wife doll.
Someone asked about Deb and the pickle pins.  I did know she was there, but I never met her and alas I did not receive a pickle pin.  Maybe next time.
I never had the opportunity to ask Richard about his equestrian training for season 4.  The line for his q&a was very long and his time was very short.
Okay, I think that about covers it....
