Historically, my anxiety has been very susceptible to "everything you think you know is wrong" kind of talk and this isn't an exception. Even though I believe he's a latter-day sophist more than anything there's a part of me who would like to go back to some of his blog-posts and respond to some of his specific arguments, but that would be a different kind of challenge altogether than trying a barspin on a bike or something.

Among other things, I've seen other commentators accuse him of "gaslighting" before that term became widely abused, and even though he mocked those kinds of accusations I think they're not entirely off the mark.

Also, by chance I came across someone on here a few years ago who bought his philosophical doomsday rhetoric completely, and that was just awful.

(I don't think highly of the community I got that screenshot from at all btw, it just saves me the trouble of summarizing it myself).

I've had an idea for an "apostrophe" poem addressed to the cyclists I see outside the passenger window when one of my parents are driving me around, about how we have some things in common despite our differences.

I sketched down "The superfluity of barspins, the extravagance of tailwhips, all pass by your mind as quickly as do I" in the car the other day and hopefully that isn't as painful to read as when I sprained my knee nearly a year ago.

BMX Stem- Choosing Front Load Vs. Top Load Stem

There are two types of BMX stem. The majority of cyclists must select between a top load and a front load stem. The front load stem positions the handlebars in front of the stem. The top load raises the bars to the top of the stem. However, BMX stem have a minor influence on your riding style.

What exactly is a front load stem?

A front load stem keeps the handlebars in front of the bike. While front loads are the most common type of stem, more riders are converting to topload. The front load stem, in my opinion, is a little weaker. This is due to the weight and pressure applied to the bolts upon impact. The weight pushes into the bolts cupping the bars while landing heavy drops or casing a lot. This will result in more broken stems.

What exactly is a top load stem?                                             

It places the bars on top of the stem and raises it slightly. The little elevation provided by a top load stem will make the bars appear higher. Because of the metal block that supports the bars, top load stems are a little stronger. The weight and pressure of an impact or collision are absorbed by the core of the stem rather than the bolts.

Avoid using hollow stems. They shatter despite being lighter and maybe seeming cooler. Consider how much force is applied on your bars when you land flat. There is less metal to absorb stress with a hollow stem.

When purchasing a stem, the reach is sometimes disregarded. A longer reach stem will increase the distance between your bars and the head tube. This makes barspins and x-ups more difficult. A stem with a reduced reach will now make it simpler to reach the bars. It also makes the bike less controlled and more responsive.

Now it’s your choice which stem & ebike batteries you want to pick to make your BMX more responsive.
