#at the very least they could have let todd howard loose. the bare minimum would have been to let us witness him climb the walls.

HEY
YOU KNOW WHAT'S FUN?
Starting a playthrough of Skyrim with all the official downloads because due to personal reasons you don't want to reveal online that people can exploit you with because like Gandalf Mommy Milkers the Gray you have no memory of this place.
You start playing, doing the do, eventually you get to WhiteRun and you make your way to DragonsReach and pass the dying tree and all the sudden you hear [Gender] Can you spare a coin? from a fucking child. :))
And a memory hits you of why Todd Howard is a evil bastard man who can't eat coochie without smearing butter on it.
Putting in the option to adopt kids but throwing in four of them who all have tragic back stories who are living in terrible to down right offensive circumstances rather than the, eventually, nice orphanage but limiting you to only adopt two of them and giving you no other option to help the other two out of poverty at bare minimum.
But also, maybe you don't want to adopt kids, maybe playing a bastard person while you're away from your children for months at a time and people are constantly trying to kill you and sometimes a dragon shows up when you do visit doesn't sit right with you. So you try to ignore that aspect of the game and go about your business.
But at the very least you're going to give Lucia some gold. So you do, and she's happy, and then begs you to adopt her. :))) You just back out of the conversation and run away and make a mental note to just fast travel to the castle from that point on and pretend that part of town doesn't exist.
Fast forward later and your in Windhelm looking for locks to pick that you haven't picked yet and you see a door in an alcove where no one should be able to see you doing your little bastard deeds. You go, pick the lock, go inside, leave cause you don't need the money just need locks to pick, and when you exit you notice an odd shape on the ground. You get close enough and realize it's one of the orphan kids :))) sleeping on permafrost without even a bedroll :)))))) outside in the coldest part of the country :)))))))) with a fucking murderer on the loose :)))))))))))))
Love how you set up your game so that no matter what nothing will kill a child because a lot of people think that it would be fucking disturbing to let killing children be an option in the game. Yet putting children in the most horrible circumstances with giving you limited options on how to help and making it so even if you adopt two children you are damning two others to a life of cruelty and loneliness. That seems just fine for some people.
Also these are four children of the man races, imagine if their update had included children of the rest of the races. Consider adding a child of each ancestry who is an orphan being subjected to the cruelest of circumstances. Think of this and remember that the Khajit are literally barred from entering any of the cities so they have to keep traveling through the holds exposed to the wildest of elements and that someone could have included a Khajit orphan trying to survive in unspeakable circumstances.
Like, the very bare below the bar minimum the developers could have included was a option in the game to remove the adoption quest so you at least don't have to see it.
Update: sorry for not tagging trigger warnings before posting, for some reason I thought just not putting the popular tags would be fine if people don't want to hear about child endangerment and forgot trigger warning tags would be better.
