apple users, i've been wanting to get an ipad tablet for some months now, but i'm not exactly sure on which one to buy (eventually. i'm still saving up) since i'd only use it for notetaking and drawing.. which do you use and would you recommend it?

Hello! Sorry if someone has asked you this before, but I was wondering what type of tablet you use to draw?
I use an iPad! I don’t like being tethered to my computer when I draw so the portability is something I’ve been looking for literal decades, and then I fell in love with Procreate. It’s such an intuitive, clean program.
And if you do want one, but Apple prices are a concern, keep an eye out for student deals and open box deals, but most importantly, you don’t necessarily have to go with the Pro. I went with the iPad Air because it was the cheaper option, while still utilizing the M1 chip that the Pro of that year had, so it has comparable processing power. I had originally started with a Mini, but with less processing, you either have to compromise canvas size or get creative with your layer limit. At the size I usually worked at, I think I could only have 11 layers then.

My 7 year old iPad Pro is retiring... The screen has developed a really large shadow, so I took it to the apple store to ask about repairing, and they said it's gonna cost me 510USD. Like wtf!!!!! With that I can literally buy a whole new iPad!!!
Tumblr media
So. I'll need to get a new one because I can't go without being able to draw and it does bother me quite a lot... However, I need help with deciding which one to get because I'm broke and considering downgrading to iPad Air, but I'm really not sure about how it will perform compared to the Pro which I am very accustomed to.
Mutuals who draw as well, please offer me your wisdom 🙏🏻 or share the poll with other people who draw and invite them to weigh in on this 🥺💛 thank you all so much!!
Considerations:
Air:
+ roughly the same size as pro
+ is significantly cheaper
+ still works well with apple pencil
+ similar spec aside from the chip
- M1 chip (which my current Gen-1 pro also uses, but it'd be good to have an upgrade because it does lag sometimes)
- lower frame rate (not sure how much it will impact my experience)
Pro:
+ I'm used to it
+ M2 chip=faster and better frame rate, can handle bigger illustration files
- more expensive
All in all I'm really sad that I have to replace my tablet and I'm very mad at apple (as always)

Apple setting up new R&D center in Jerusalem
Tumblr media
The tech behemoth will be opening its third such center in Israel, with the Jerusalem site seeking design and backend engineers for the development of Apple’s M1 processors used in Mac desktops and notebooks
Tumblr media
Apple is setting up a third R&D center in Israel in addition to its center in Herzliya and Haifa. A LinkedIn post by a local Apple talent sourcer revealed that the company is setting up a new site in Jerusalem and that the center will mainly be focused on the tech giant’s M processors used in Mac desktops and notebooks. Last month, Apple announced that it is expanding its engineering R&D hub in the city of Rawabi in the Palestinian Authority, which currently employs over 60 engineers.
The Apple hub is run in partnership with Palestinian high-tech company, ASAL Technologies, and works in cooperation with the tech giant's R&D centers in Herzliya and Haifa, which currently employ 2,000 engineers. The teams in Israel are working to develop technology across Apple’s products, including innovations on silicon such as the M1 family of chips, and the depth-sensing camera that is instrumental to Face ID.
Apple’s development centers in Israel are based on a series of local acquisitions and an intensive recruiting spree in recent years. In December 2011, Apple acquired Anobit Technologies for $400 million. Anobit developed a chip that specializes in optimizing flash memories using unique signal processing technology. The company’s chips were integrated into Apple’s popular projects, such as the iPhone, iPad, and Macbook Air, even prior to the acquisition. In 2013, Apple acquired Prime Sense for $345 million. PrimeSense, which was famous as the company behind Microsoft’s Kinect motion-sensing system for the Xbox 360, developed a system that can translate body motion for computer games. The system, which combines both software and hardware, is based on a hardware controller that functions as a 3-dimensional sensor, which can detect and recognize movements and facial expressions. Apple’s other Israeli acquisitions include LinX Computational Imaging in 2015, RealFace (formerly Pickeez) in 2017, and Israeli photography startup Camerai (2019).

M4 Nod Delay for Apple Mac Studio and Mac Pro Until Mid-2025
Tumblr media
Apple’s specially created M processors, which offer amazing performance and efficiency, have completely changed Mac computers. There seems to be an unexpected delay for the high-end Mac Pro and Apple Mac Studio, just as all waiting impatiently for the next iteration. This is an overview of the M4 chip’s capabilities and the reasons these potent machines won’t have it until mid-2025.
The M-Powered Mac Ecosystem: An Unqualified Triumph
With the release of the M1 chip in 2020, Apple has switched all of its Mac models to internal silicon. When compared to Intel processors, the M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, and M2 chips have continuously wowed with their power efficiency and performance advancements. Apple’s status as a pioneer in personal computer chip design has been cemented by this change.
The Horizon’s M4
According to known yearly cycles, there are rumours that the M4 processor may be released at some point in late 2024, possibly in conjunction with new MacBook models. Significant performance gains over the M2 are anticipated from this next-generation microprocessor, especially in the areas of core count, clock rates, and graphics processing.
The M2 Remains in Place
The Mac Pro and Apple Mac Studio may see an unexpected delay, according to a recent claim by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, even though the M4 is ready to power the upcoming generation of ordinary Macs. The M4 update won’t be applied to these high-performance machines until mid-2025; they are now outfitted with the M1 Max and M1 Ultra varieties.
Discussions concerning Apple’s professional Mac lineup approach have been triggered by this announcement. The following are a few possible explanations for the wait:
M2 Optimisation for Complex Workflows
Professional operations like scientific computing, video editing, and 3D rendering can already be performed with remarkable speed by the M1 Max and M1 Ultra CPUs. Apple may be concentrating on improving the M2 architecture even more for these demanding operations, maybe with the help of developer tools and software upgrades.
Setting Efficiency Gains First
The M2 generation of processors is well-known for having far higher power efficiency than the M1 chips. This may be especially important for Mac Pros, which frequently have strong configurations that produce a lot of heat. Postponing the M4 upgrade in certain devices may enable additional efficiency optimisation while preserving optimal performance.
Focus on M4 for Mobile Devices First
Pay Attention to M4 for Mobile Phones First off, it’s possible that Apple is giving the M4 chip top priority for its mobile devices, which include the iPhone and iPad. When comparing year-over-year performance increases to professional Macs which already have outstanding power these devices frequently benefit more.
Implications for Expert Users
For certain professional users, there may be issues over the M4 chip’s delay for the Mac Pro and Apple Mac Studio. This is how it might affect them:
Extended Upgrade Cycle
It may take an additional year for users to see a noticeable performance increase in their professional equipment. For people working on cutting-edge projects that require the maximum amount of processing power, this could be a disadvantage.
Emphasis on Software Optimisation
It could be a good thing that there may be an emphasis on M2 optimisation for business processes. Even in the absence of a hardware update, significant performance benefits may be achieved by fine-tuning the current architecture for particular activities.
What to Anticipate by Mid-2025
Despite the lack of information, the following is what might see when the M4 eventually shows up in the Mac Pro and Apple Mac Studio:
Substantial Performance Leap
With a notable increase in core count, clock speeds, and overall processing capacity, the M4 is anticipated to be a major improvement over the M2. This will meet the growing needs of apps for professional use.
Possible Design Modifications
The Mac Pro and Apple Mac Studio may get new designs in addition to the M4 upgrade. This would entail upgrading thermal control systems to accommodate the new chip’s possibly increased power consumption.
Emphasis on Developer interaction
To guarantee smooth interaction with the M4 architecture, Apple is probably going to collaborate closely with developers of professional applications. By doing this, the new chip’s full potential will be realised, giving users optimal performance for their scientific and artistic operations.
Was it a wise decision or a squandered chance?
Apple made the deliberate choice to postpone the release of the M4 chip for the Mac Pro and Apple Mac Studio. Power users may find it frustrating, but it also points to the need to optimise the M2 architecture for difficult work-related tasks. The ultimate success of this plan will rely on Apple’s ability to close the professional user base gap between the M2 and M4 until the mid-2025 upgrade arrives.
Is the Apple Mac Studio for You?
Content makers, video editors, graphic designers, 3D artists, and anybody who requires a powerful desktop for demanding jobs will love the Mac Studio. The price can be high. For casual users or those who don’t need such powerful processing, the Mac mini may be better.

Apple's M1 iPad Air slips to a new low of $399
Tumblr media
Apple iPad Air (5th Generation) 395$
Tumblr media
Apple 10.9-inch iPad Air Wi-Fi (5th Generation) ₱29,000 Apple’s M1 iPad Air has plummeted to a new low price of $399, just as the next model prepares to hit store shelves. This bargain is from Amazon and it doesn’t include every hue, however both blue and purple are included by this significant price. The other hues are also on sale, although the bargains aren’t quite as hot. Amazon’s discount is on the basic 64GB model. This tablet leads our list of the best iPads, though that’s sure to change as the new versions join the chat. No matter what happens with our list in the future, however, this is still a robust and highly competent tablet with plenty of bells and whistles. We enjoy the stunning screen, which is a major step up from the bottom rung 10th-gen iPad. This one also provides you a more powerful chip. We also loved the form factor. It’s named the iPad Air and it shows. This is a lighter-than-average tablet that’s simple to handle and maneuver, even for lengthy periods of time. The M1 CPU is strong enough to run just about any program or game you throw at it and the 10.9-inch display is bright, clear and precise. It’s very much the Platonic ideal of a tablet. We even termed it “the closest to being universally appealing and the best iPad for most people.”

Apple has recently released two new iPad models, the M4 iPad Pro and the M2 iPad Air. Both devices boast impressive features and performance enhancements, but which one is worth the investment? Alongside this, the new mid-tier Apple tablet, the M2 iPad Air, is now available in two different sizes for the first time. The question arises: what are the key differences between these two 2024 iPads, and is the higher-end model worth the extra investment? The 2022 iPad Air 5, equipped with the M1 chip, blurred the lines between mid-range and high-end iPads, providing an enticing option for those looking for a more affordable alternative to the $799 11-inch iPad Pro. Now, the 2024 M2 iPad Air lineup (6th gen) offers increased choice and power compared to the M1 iPad Air. However, the introduction of the new iPad Air models is juxtaposed with the M4 iPad Pro devices, which come at a higher price point this year, starting at $999 and $1,299. This price difference makes choosing between an iPad Air and Pro come down to a $300-400 discrepancy. Performance-wise, the M4 iPad Pro excels with a 50% faster CPU, 4 times faster GPU, and enhanced memory bandwidth compared to the M2 chip. The M4 Neural Engine offers 38 trillion operations per second, along with hardware-accelerated ray tracing capabilities and more.
