oftentimes the tendency/ability to keep posts cycling for years through reblogs feels less like a pleasant cultural baseline and more like the closest thing this website has to long-running commercials. instead of a television jingle, I have that Foucault quote — "While we sit discussing the word, power moves in silence." — just within semi-conscious reach. Now I've read a Foucault book. I've read a couple explanations of what he means by "power" and a few essays that riff on his ideas, but the man is not my bread and butter. why should I have that one koan unintentionally memorized?
