Oh don't get me wrong. Just trying to find some amusement? I am not here for the baby storyline. There's so much I have issue with like them just dropping the ball on Robby/Johnny and just having Robby happily accept everything, and them not working on their relationship while Johnny also tries to navigate Miguel, and making both boys feel important. Instead it feels like the baby is just "Johnny's second chance" and the writers dropping the ball on what could have been a great storyline.
Yep. pretty much.
The Babyplot feels hollow because it is. It's a shortcut to building a 'family' - and a cheap shortcut at that. (Also an unnecessary and time-wasting shortcut because everything the babyplot does narratively speaking could be accomplished by having Johnny concerntrate on Robby and Miguel.)
After 4 seasons of build up, it would have been nice if we got to see Johnny and Robby come to a better place organically, and for Johnny to figure out how to balance the needs of both boys and start untangling his own trauma and taking steps towards recovery. I was really hoping for some great found/blended family vibes.
And instead we got Bam-Baby, you're brothers now - and insta!dad Johnny.
There is no emotional resolution or payoff to that.
(lack of narrative payoff is one of my pet peeves. They've been dragging the Johnny-Robby tension out for four seasons only for it to completely dissappate with that).
(Damn, all four characters get done so dirty by this plot-point. Robby and Johnny and Miguel and Carmen are some of my favs and dayyyum they all deserved better than this).
(And like, if they were going for a tragic set-up, then they're on the right track. Giving Johnny what he Wants (a blank slate) rather than what he Needs (to work through his problems and make effort to change his ways) is a classic tragic set-up.... but I don't think they are going this deep. I actually think the shallowest interpretation - a baby fixes everything - is what we are meant to take away from this)
but if you are trying to find some fun in the plotline, have at it. Take what I say with a grain of salt. Full confession - I am pregnant right now. I have very very very low patience for Written By A Man Pregnancy Storylines normally, but right now that patience is non-existent.
But this plotline has actually killed my faith in the writers stone dead, so now I have literally zero expectations for season 6. I'm open to being pleasantly surprised, but I think I will just view Cobra Kai as the shiny dumb karate soap-opera it is.

On a lukewarm take.
I'll tell you right now, most adult mainstream media is not more "subtle" in is subtext than children's mainstream media.
Why is that? Children's entertainment can't get away with a lot of literal imagery.
Like queer rep, ND rep, and or most political issues.
So it requires the use of symbolism and subtext to get through it to it's audience with enough deniability to not upset the status quo.
Symbolism I've found to be much more powerful in a lot of all ages media than in adult and YA entertainment.
That is to say, all media should be consumed with our own biases in mind.
Instead of saying, X was bad and irredimible, people should be asking themselves, "why does this character make me FEEL this way about them, how much of that is intentional and how much of it is my own interpretation, why Y character forgave them so easily, what reasons do they have".
I consume all sorts of media, and most adult media I enjoy is adult media produced by artists mostly known for children's entertainment, they more often understand nuance and earnestness that a lot of newer adult guested media does not.
Do you think kid shows are black and white? Boy, I have bad news about cop thrillers.
I jest tho it's easier to extrapolate character from simplicity and earnestness than from media that is constantly embarrassed of being "too weird and unserious".
Some people consume only adult media, (not cartoon adult media like, just in general mainstream media) and have the media literacy of a fish.
I do think is important to watch everything you find mildly interesting, wether or not it's withing your preferred générés, demographics, and styles.
But I find it iffy to imply that all ages media is mostly not nuanced, because "they have to appeal to children black and white mentality" when that's just a big misconception.
Any weird vibes check my tags

Your thoughts on Susie Haltmann? since everyone in the kirby fandom has been talking about her as of late.
Tbh? I like Susie as a character and a villain! What she did is kind of horrifying to me in Planet Robobot which i really did like in terms of how horrifying Susie really can be? It really showed that in the game, especially with the whole Mecha Knight and Dedede Clone. Even how she and Haltmann mechanized an entire planet[s] for their goals is disturbing. It really shows how far they'll go for their goals even if it meant destroying the homes and lives of the innocent inhabitants. Which makes for an interesting villain and how they used the true horrors of Capitalism for them in this aspect.
I do like other things that show in her character like how she sings aloud while walking around, how into it she gets to it as well! She also likes to play piano which i thought was pretty cute to for her to! And the fact she has a full name!! That her favorite food is Ice Cream and how she's able to get ready for an interview five minutes after waking up!! I like her cool and collected personality to! this is but the little things i do like about her
The lore for Susie i find really interesting to, I love the lore for the kirby characters and how some of them connect in some shape or form!!
However I don't like that the fandom either totally tones down what she did/still does or just totally antagonizes her. To me Susie is an interesting and a very laid back sort of villain compared to other villains he was met in the kirby universe! Like most characters she has both good and bad qualities about her and i feel like everyone seem to forget that.
This goes for other kirby characters, especially the villains since I noticed that a lot when it comes to them, like Magolor for example, he has it worst out of most of the villains when it comes to his character and what not!! and vice versa.
