i like to headcanon that Erik, while looking worryingly thin and overall, feature wise, gives a more sickly impression, is actually really hard to kill. real cockroach type shit. during his life he often knocked on death's door and was more than once happy about it, thinking the shit show called life would soon be over, just to curse everything when he woke up the next day anyway. and that's why it's so ironic that a broken heart does him in in the end.

watched a moulin rouge (2001) youtube reaction today and they lost the woman when christian returns to the moulin rouge during the musical number to "pay his whore". she really addressed the audience saying that was a big red flag and he's actually an asshole, no one who actually loves someone would act that way and satine deserved better.

which.... is such a boring way to watch a movie?!?? 😭 like would she say this when we only had christians' POV? if the movie would portray satine as a cunning bitch who deceived our bright eyed and charming christian for weeks, made him fall in love with her and only then was like i AM a material girl and will chose the man you thought we both looked down upon??? she definitely would think him publicly humiliating her is totally appropriate for deceiving and hurting him that way if she was potrayed as villainous as she would have seemed from his pov (and yes he was dramatic about it but tbh he didn't even really humiliate her publicly because the audience doesn't know what the fuck is going on). also if he had been like "ok, she didn't choose me, but because i do love her i respect that and idk.. go home now" it would be a super anticlimactic ending. is jealousy a good trait for an irl partner, usually not at all, in fiction? yes, because it will drive the plot and usually reads more passionate that being totally rational all the time.
