so long, boys! i’ll send you a postcard from paradise falls!  —  descendants ocs & headcanons ; up.
a rundown of up and its role in auradon & the massive descendants project. trigger warnings for a death mention (old age).
with no humans left in paradise falls, it fell under the jurisdiction of auradon central by default. they mostly left the place alone unless there was trouble, though they did try to enact the animal legislation on kevin, aka they tried to turn her and her chicks into humans. they were never able to catch kevin, however, and so she and her babies were left as birds.
dug, on the other hand, was turned into a human alongside his three puppies, ace, goldie, and queenie. while it didn’t make as much of a difference as he had his collar, his children didn’t have the same invention, and so it was easier for them to communicate in human form.
for all intents and purposes, dug and the kids are part of the fredricksen family and all documents say as much. russell jokes and says carl ended up with three grandchildren in one night.
carl was active in the community, particularly with the wilderness explorers alongside russell, until his death several years prior to the start of the story. being the hero that he is, his passing was made into a big deal by the media, who attended his funeral. russell was annoyed by this, wanting to let carl go in peace, and the constant cameras made queenie upset. in the end, though, the family was comforted by the fact that he would be able to see ellie again.
russell started working at the wilderness explorers association part time as a teenager, turning it into a full-blown career by the time he was an adult. he currently runs the branch in his area and always involved his son teddy in his work from the moment he was born, wanting to do everything with him. much of this stems from his own father’s refusal to be part of his life. he hasn’t spoken to his father in at least a good decade, but he doesn’t mind as much nowadays.
teddy is very much his father’s son, an active scout and an accomplished one at that. he has plenty of badges on his sash, most of them pinned there by his father. he is adventurous and is always eager for a new challenge, though he does sometimes have a bad habit of running into things without fully thinking them through, wanting to face things head-on for better or worse. he is also skilled in other areas, playing several instruments, though he’s most proficient with the trumpet and the drums. he is a friendly face to most who know him and has a cheery personality that is infectious a lot of the time.
ace is a jock, that much was clear from the moment he could walk. he was always drawn to sports, no matter whether he was in his human form or dog form, and his family supported this. he’s good at sports, but he will sometimes act as though he’s better than he really is, showing off to whoever will watch. it’s fairly easy to make him stop, however, usually by doing what he is but better or grabbing goldie to shove some sense into him. as the eldest triplet, he often tries to act superior to his sisters, though the girls (goldie in particular) shoots him down quickly. despite his somewhat inflated ego, he’s a friendly person. he does often get distracted by squirrels and balls, though.
like her brother, goldie is good at sports, albeit different ones than him. she’s the most level-headed and focused of the triplets, often keeping her siblings (and teddy) in line when necessary. she’s also been the resident guard dog from a young age, always the one to bark when someone is at the door. she has a protective nature, but also knows when to quit and let her family take care of their own messes. she doesn’t always bark at her problems, however, and is quite eloquent when speaking, especially when arguing. it’s something that bothered carl sometimes, as she was able to get away with anything by explaining herself, and the puppy eyes were just as persuasive.
queenie is the most artistic of the triplets. painting and crafts were something she loved when she was young, dipping her paws in paint and creating jewellery for all of her family members. most of the homemade nick-knacks around the house are made by her and dug insists that any and all of her paintings are to be stuck to the fridge. when the fridge becomes too overrun, they go on the wall near dug’s bed. she is the quietest of the triplets, but has an abundance of curiosity, her dog nose able to smell many things that can sometimes lead her into trouble. she doesn’t consider herself brave like the other three are and often hides herself away in her dog form when something scares her.
teddy is part of the adventurer’s society, the school band, and the yearbook committee. ace is on the baseball and soccer teams while goldie is on the tennis, volleyball, and debate teams. queenie is part of the art club, dance team, and home economics club.
dug allowed his kids to choose their middle names when they were young. ace chose ‘kevin’, goldie chose ‘elizabeth’, and queenie chose ‘ellie’. russell and carl were quite proud.
ace often clashes with other jocks, such as evander dukes and kosmis kallas, as while he loves to show off, it comes from an innocent enough place where all he craves is attention and harmless praise. he never feels the need to put anyone down as he does so, unlike evander and kosmis, who will snub anyone they don’t deem good enough.
before carl passed away, the entire family was able to go on a proper vacation to paradise falls. teddy was a little disappointed that there was no life-threatening adventure, but everyone enjoyed themselves nonetheless. they were also able to reunite with kevin for the week that they were there.
charles f. muntz is on the isle along with his plane, which is stranded there, and no one else. he keeps to himself mostly, unless he’s leaving the plane to yell at the isle kids who decide to egg his house for funsies.
carl’s family were never happy about the isle decision. charles had died already, and russell will be the first to say that it’s insanely unfair that charles gets to live when carl has already passed away.
ben’s proclamation wasn’t a big deal to the fredricksens or the mins, mainly because they highly doubted there were any children there that they personally had to worry about. goldie’s protectiveness rises a little at the thought of them causing trouble for her and her family, but will leave things as they are unless they are directly affected.
