The thing that bugs me about tfp starscream is that sure, some of his mistakes were definitely him panicking but some of them really seemed like they wanted him to forward the plot

I also hate how the show made it seem like he didn't stand much chance in a fight against other decepticons who were his inferior. HES SECOND IN COMMAND for heavens sake why do they keep having Starscream be overpowered by everyone. The moments we get of Starscream being smart and cunning and kicking ass are so good. Make him scary. He's the second in command bls. Woulda loved to see him kickass more not just with the Decepticons but over the autobots as well. Show us why Megatron would make Starscream his second in command.

#I'm not actually like legit mad about it but it woulda been rad to see Starscream being skilled more #I get some a fair number of his errors and missteps was bc he's desperate and panicked bc Megatron is an abusive asshat but still #Some of them REALLY felt like they just wanted Starscream to fuckup to encourage the plot. #Yes he does kick ass some times but it didn't feel like enough to paint a picture of a dangerous villain like the autobots said he was #They really couldn't pick if they wanted Starscream to be the comedic relief with no braincells or a competent unpredictable SIC #If it weren't for budget issues I totally think they could have had their goofy comic relief character be like... Skywarp or something #starscream can have goofy moments just give skywarp or tc or someone else close to starscream the funny idiot moments #It could also be used as a device for why Starscream's plan might fall apart #Starscream's ego or acting in desperation are valid reasons for his plans to go awry as well #Side note I understand why the Decepticons might not respect Starscream #Whether it's bc he's underhanded or bc Megatron purposefully undermines him and wants people to look down on him #Either way I get that aspect.
