New Rule: Boss is not responsible for employee's suicide, says SC
The Supreme Court has cleared a senior Maharashtra Education Department officer who was accused of abetment after a junior partner of his committed suicide.
Kishor Parashar, who worked as a clerk in the department in Aurangabad had committed suicide in August 2017, supposedly because of burden, stoppage of increment and humiliating treatment in the workplace.
Parashar's wife in her complaint claimed that her husband was suffering mental torture as his higher officers were completing more work from her husband which required him to work from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm.
She likewise asserted that her husband would be called at odd hours and even on holidays to complete the work; that officer named Vaijnath Kondiba Khandke had stopped his salary for one month and was threatening her husband that his increment would be stopped.
Suppress the criminal body of evidence against the office, a division bench of Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit said "As a superior officer, if some work was allocated by the applicant to the deceased, only on that count it can't be said that there was any liable personality or criminal expectation. In view of the massive fire incidents which took place recently in Noida and Karol Bagh, the Additional Municipal Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), YS Gupta, on Saturday held a meeting with the officials of fire department and directed them to conduct a fire safety survey to avoid such mishaps in the area.
He said that new and advanced devices will be provided to the fire fighting teams to combat such incidents. Besides, health check-ups and counselling sessions will be held periodically for the firemen to give them a stress-free environment while working.
Gupta further directed the officials concerned to clear all the files related to fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) in a prompt manner. In addition to this, he stated that proper arrangements should be in place in all the commerical and industrial units.
Chief Medical Officer Brahmadeep Sandhu, Assistant Divisional Fire Officer I S Kashyap, Fire Station Officer Satyavan Samrival and Pankaj Parashar, Additional Fire Station Officers Sukhbir Singh, Narendra Singh, Sunil Kumar, Lalit Kumar and Ramesh Kumar were present during the meeting.

Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya and Shantikunj honored for Cleanliness Campaign
In a felicitation ceremony, Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya and Shantikunj were honored by the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar for carrying out Cleanliness Campaign. It is to be noted that the Cleanliness Campaign is carried out all over the country from September 15 to October 2. The Municipal Corporation of Haridwar honored the NGOs, Universities, institutions etc. who played leading roles in the campaign. This campaign was conducted on large scale by DSVV and Shantikunj. Programs like shramdaan under “Cleanliness is the Service”, poster, rangoli, slogan, pamphlet distribution, etc. were organized. All of these programs have become an integral part of the University and the Shantikunj. The idea of Shramdaan and Anshadaan is now being recognized all over the country.
On behalf of the University and the Shantikunj, the honor was received by Shri Hari Mohan Gupta, Dr. Arunesh Parashar and Shri Narendra Thakur. There were many dignitaries who along with the Municipal Commissioner, Dr. Lalit Narayan Mishra, honored the institutions.
According to the Honorable Chancellor of the University, Dr. Pranav Pandya, there is a distinct identity of Shantikunj in the field of cleanliness and service. This message is promoted by the University in its own spiritual and scientific way.
