I always talk abt Jesse and Cedric's relationship but I also can't get over his relationship with Eva and Aurelie.. like Jesse's relationship with the two is so familial that it gives me cavities 😭 the way aurelie gave her growth staff(?) To Jesse and johan saying that it's something passed down to family/descendants (idr the exact words) was SO!! I mean it was obvious before but to the extent that Aurelie sees Jesse as her own is so 😭😭 she's so soft with him and she's so physically affectionate it's just nice reading. And the hug scene during the sejak arc 🥹🥹 and the way Eva always wants Jesse's attention and time is so!! Unfortunately I can't get much out of their dynamic yet bc they get less time than the mentor-disciple duo but yeah. they're all so sweet. Parent-child and sibling dynamic stories always make me weak. can't describe it w words as I can only muster up "so so so" lol

The way how he's her first and only student 🥹 THE WAY HOW SHE SEES HIM AS HER SON IN ALL BUT BLOOD AND NAME 🥹😭😭😭

She cares about him so much it actually makes my heart lurch. Every time she acts tender and affectionate with him I curl up and cry. They truly have one of the best relationship developments in the novel and I will die on this hill fr 😭 Her gifting Jesse her old holy staff that she used when she was younger as a gift for his birthday, but also giving it in hopes to convey to him how much she wants him to remain with them (her) in the Empire in the future.... 😭😭😭🥹 AURÉLIEEEEEEEEEEE HUUAGGAGHHHH

I know p much exactly at what point youre at in the novel and im SCREAMING because oh god... you're gonna get punched so hard in the aurélie-jesse feels at some point (i love their relationship so much) (or just feels in general—ive said it before and ill say it again, but this novel.... it plays with your emotions so bad, it's the best its so so so so good, i love the emotional buildup and rollercoaster)

And Jesse and Eva!!!!!!!! The way Eva constantly calls him with insults LMFAO but she!!!! cares a lot about him!!! And vice-versa!!!!!!! 😭 Something about Jesse just ends up with him gathering found family everywhere he goes wkdjdkkdksk (he is a much better older brother than Robert was and Eva deserves the best :'))
