Ok so I saw this post yesterday, and while I'm not entirely on board with the main body of the post, this part of OP's tags did catch my attention:

I had never seen anyone draw a comparison between the two scenes, so I went to take a look, and I can definitely see the similarities:

Both have dark voids as the background, with a star-like effect from the distant floating orbs, the orbs in each location are of a similar size, and have the same sort of glow around them, and as is pointed out in the tags, the green Afteran souls are moving towards whatever comes next for them, while those from Remnant are stationary.

Now, because I' obviously going to make this about Penny, there are a couple of interesting ways that this connect to her:

The first is the out of place golden colour of the Maiden power transfer to Winter. There are several theories as to why it was golden instead of green, but with the information that souls in Remnant seem to be golden in colour, maybe this indicates that her entire soul was transferred, rather than just aura? Souls and aura are separate things after all, despite being very closely related.

The second interesting thing to note is that if these are in fact souls from Remnant, then that would imply that the central location of the portals is Remnants equivalent of the Blacksmith's workshop, and so the fact that Penny died there could maybe be significant. The Brother Gods took away the concept of Ascension from this world the created, but would they be able to remove it entirely from a place this closely connected to it?

And this last one is admittedly a reach, but I was thinking about Penny's voice being in Ruby's head in the beginning of V9, as well as the fact that she was subconsciously draw to the Jade Marionette before she knew what it was, and it made me wonder if this moment from when Ruby was falling might have been another instance of Ruby being drawn to Penny's soul, and perhaps causing some sort of connection between them?
